Green bags and labels. Trying to find the green bag kiosk was crazy. Why would you have the kiosks at ONE end of the store and the bags to buy at the other?? I know we need exercise but it's inefficient Fred Meyer!! I do think think that the cool scream mask Lego guy we saw was pretty cool and I'm glad we got to see it. I just prefer efficient placement of items and putting the things that belong together TOGETHER. So perhaps think of moving the bags y'all.

Worst customer service ever with an employee named Elena there. She couldn't have made the transaction any more complicating and difficult than necessary. She was rude and made everything difficult and made me feel like she was intentionally trying to be difficult and unhelpful. She also just socialized with the customer in front of me for a few minutes and was completely friendly with her, regardless of the next person waiting in line, yet was very cold, unhelpful and difficult with me over a defected product too

    Huge clothing department

This location is a Superstore which means it is MASSIVE. Every department, every section within a department, is huge and contains a large and varied selection. For example, the health and beauty section could be it's own store! This could never be my regular Fred Meyers for this very reason. I want to get in and out quickly which is why I prefer the smaller Fred Meyer stores which have everything I need. Stopped here multiple times when in the area and every time, I have the same reaction! Yesterday I needed something in Garden, some half & half for coffee, and needed to use the restroom. That required me to walk almost the entire store! Not sure how people who have mobility issues or even are just not in the best shape could manage. All that being said, there is a great selection, produce is high quality as is the cheese, meat and fish. The staff is friendly and there is a Fred Meyer Gas Station right in the parking lot. The large turquoise planter I wanted to purchase did not ring up on sale even though there was a sign showing a discount, and the other planters rang up with the discount. Without hesitation, the manager, Diane, authorized a manual discount. This is why I shop at Freddie's!

This is a Super Store. This one location has a gas station, clothing section, shoe department, furniture, groceries, etc. Plenty of parking in their private parking lot. Good grocery prices but I didn't spot many manager specials. My checkout did not take long. They have a BottleDrop station here. Half the time the kiosk is not working. Quarter of the time the drop station is full and cannot take any more bottles.

    the glorious Murray's cheese counter

Very large and busy Fred Meyer, with the sort of variety expected at a Kroger chain location. The big draw for me was the Murray's counter. There were a lot of cheeses, but I had hoped for more local ones, though they did have three from Rivers Edge from Oregon! Self-check out was quick and easy.

    Is a freaking big store!

Fred Meyer grocery stores are a new experience for this Californian, and a good experience at that. The first thing I noticed upon entering Fred Meyer for the first time is just how big it is: at least four times the size of my local Safeway. FM seems like a grocery store with a Walmart, a Costco, with parts of IKEA and Bed Bath & Beyond tacked on. There's a bank inside, and a clothing store, and even sporting goods. It's just that big! The selection of frozen, packaged, and ready-to-eat foods are impressive, with helpful staff to point me toward whichever horizon I need to navigate to find something. It's pretty gratifying. FM doesn't have that higher-end foodie vibe that Whole Foods or New Seasons Market emit. It doesn't have that "best friend looking out for you" vibe from Trader Joe's. FM does have a place, and it might just be your primary store for all things you get on a regular basis. That's how I'll use FM.

    Nice, clean location!

Side entrance from garden side. My favorite usually less crowded.

It's pretty rare that I get a pass -- usually it's through my 107ist membership -- so I end up going maybe once a year, if that. On the plus side, there's plenty of parking and the store itself is clean and well organized. The clothing selection is definitely trendy... maybe too trendy. It feels geared more toward teenagers and young adults. I've visited a few times now and honestly haven't found any apparel that interests me. A lot of it comes off as flashy. I was hoping to see more outfits tied to big events like the Winter Olympics or the World Cup, but while they did have a few jackets and pants, they were pretty boring overall. The real draw here is the shoes. About half the store is dedicated to footwear, and there are some really nice options. Most shoes are around 40% off, with the non-discounted pairs clearly marked. Prices on display shoes usually range from about $145-$220, so you can do the math to decide if it's worth it. Even with discounts, many pairs still start around $80 and go up from there. Clothing, on the other hand, still felt overpriced even after the employee store markdowns. I've been here three times now and still haven't bought a single thing. In comparison, I've purchased multiple items at other brand employee stores. That said, if you're already planning to buy Nike shoes, this can definitely be a solid deal. One standout positive: the employees have always been very friendly and helpful.

It's hard to differentiate this area from the main floor as it seamlessly blends aesthetically and is so well maintained. Definitely the best I've seen and it's a pleasure to shop here. Backstage is Macy's version of a discount store similar to Marshall's but at a much, much smaller scale. They have a little of everything - clothing, bedding, housewares, kitchen gadgets, home decor, shoes, seasonal, handbags, accessories, luggage, pet items, lamps, art, and holiday items. Men's, women's and children's clothing are at lower prices but are also of lower quality than the main store. These are not items that were in Macy's and moved to Backstage; those items go to Last Act on the main floor. The items in Backstage seem to have been made for this purpose similar to how Nordstrom Rack carries a different and lower quality item. The Tory Burch tote is what caught my eye and when I saw the price, I was confused. Just $199 and originally $298, it was a bargain. That's when I looked up and realized I was in the Backstage area. The canvas tote with signature logo in camel leather and matching straps was classic and simple elegance. Timeless and for every season. I had to resist buying it as handbags are a known weakness! But since the pandemic started, I've gotten dressed up 3-4 times, and that includes Christmas, Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's! So I swung it on my shoulder, looked in the mirror and smiled, then did a catch and release. The day I was there they had lots of other purses; tons of sweaters in neutrals as well as colors; loungewear, the new pandemic clothing attire; pants, jeans, coats, pajamas. Basically everything! Since Macy's has a sale practically everyday and sales often apply to items that are marked down, I rarely shop in Backstage because I can get higher quality items at phenomenal prices. The Tannesbourne location is now the exception! With beautiful clothes neatly arranged on racks with plenty of space in between the clothing and between the racks so that you can browse the selection without frustration, I make a bee line to this department! While at Backstage, do check out the kitchen area. It is small, but I always find a gadget I need or to replace one that is old. Bakeware , small white dishes and bowls and serving pieces are also great finds for under $10.00. The home decor area has textured pillows, throws, candles, frames and seasonal items. Easy to find a gift or a small item to give your room a perk-me-up. This Macy's is not anywhere close to my home! But now that Lloyd Center Macy's is closed, I come here even though it's further than Clackamas or Washington Square because I like that it's small. I don't have to go through several floors to find various items. Parking is super easy on the street out front or in the garage next door. This Macy's Backstage is definitely a winner in my book!
