I love Korean Supermarkets, I had fun shopping and browsing around at…read more G-Mart, although I wish I could bring back tons of stuff from here ( perishables) I can't wait to shop at my local HMart for some products that I've seen here, hopefully they carry them. G-Mart is huge, colorful, and messy in a way due to tons of products, parking is limited and parking lot is kind of confusing. We parked on the street the first time and the 2nd visit when I went back again to grab more stuff, we parked along the side since we couldn't find any open stalls. I don't know where to begin looking, upon entering, I head straight to the ramen section, which is my favorite/weakness! I noticed lots of new ramen brand that I haven't tried before, To sum it up, G-Mart has a great selections of all the Korean products you'll need. There are also fresh meats, produce and great assortment of ban chan and kim cheeee!! I killed 2 birds over here, dined at the restaurant upstairs and shopped here. What really caught my eyes and was happy to see while shopping here, I finally get to try ice cups (.99) which I used for packaged ice coffee, it was pretty cool to pour the drink in the cup ( from watching Instagram vids on Korean convenience store) Also the viral ice cream, so happy I get to try it here! That was some creamy, sweet & fancy viral ice cream, I also got to try frozen Kimbap, never tried it but seen those viral vids too. Besides those goods I got, I also bought a box of OFood seafood ramen, Turtle chips, seaweed, candies and cake. The Mala Turtle chips was really good, I hope to see them here. So Happy -feeling just like a kid at a candy store.... hehe. I heard from local that this supermarket use to be Paldo, Hmart, now Gmart. Not sure if same owner as Hmart but I do notice the Hmart adds, I am confused! hehe. Overall, I had a fun shopping experience here, love Korean products, great place to shop for your Korean goodies and groceries!

I was like a kid in a candy store. I found a good handful of items from Hawaii that I was either wanting or needed while in town. If you make lau lau, I found some nice luau leaves for a very good price. It wasn't all stem, like how some of the store sells em so it was a plus. My daughters enjoyed the variety of musubi in the hot case. Reminded them of Foodland. They said it was good.

Extremely Unprofessional Behavior at the Poke Counter…read more Today my friend and I drove to Uwajimaya specifically to buy fresh poke, which we usually enjoy here. When we arrived at the poke bowl service counter, we were standing in front of the menu screens trying to decide what to order. We were not in line yet, because we were still looking at the options and deciding. We had only been standing there for less than three minutes. At the time, there was an Asian male employee helping another customer. After that customer finished ordering, another male employee (tall with long hair) gestured toward me and asked if I was ready to order. I said, "Can I get a mini bowl please?" Instead of confirming my order, he immediately asked whether my friend wanted the same thing. My friend was still deciding and had not said she was ordering yet, so I politely replied that she wasn't sure yet, but I was ready to order mine. The employee then shook his head and slammed the rice container, which completely surprised me. The gesture and attitude felt very disrespectful and unnecessarily aggressive toward a customer. For context, I work in the food service industry myself, so I understand that things can get busy. However, at that moment there were no other customers waiting behind us, so the pressure and frustration displayed by this employee felt very inappropriate. Because of how uncomfortable the interaction felt, I told him that it was okay and that I would not order anymore. My friend also said it was okay and that we didn't want anything anymore. Instead of simply letting us go, the employee shouted loudly across the counter, saying "Come back, come back! What do you want? Come back!" while waving his hand at us as if we had to beg for him to serve us. We had done nothing wrong--we were simply looking at the menu and politely asked for a mini bowl. The experience left us feeling confused, pressured, and honestly quite uncomfortable. We later reported the incident to the customer service counter. The female employee there (wearing glasses) listened and said she would forward the report to management. I have visited Uwajimaya many times and usually enjoy shopping here, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I hope management addresses this situation and reminds staff that basic courtesy and patience are essential in customer service. After the incident, we decided not to order poke and only purchased a bottled tea before leaving. We ended up going to another Japanese restaurant nearby for food instead. I'm sharing this experience not to attack the business, but to provide honest feedback. Uwajimaya has always been a place we enjoy visiting, and we would be happy to come back in the future--once we feel confident that customers will not be treated this way again by this particular employee.

first off, me and my family have been going to this market since i was little. that being said,…read moreback in the day there werent many asian markets to choose from. if youre thai, there are some items that manila market tends to carry that other larger asian markets dont. (the less popular items amongst other foreigners) and if you cant find it there, the viet/thai market down the road will most likely have it. as to the previous remarks about customer service, i'd have to say that i agree. it seems to be a family owned business, and i usually try to avoid too much interaction with the staff/cashier. they (or she) never seems to be in a good mood and i get the feeling that there is a major lack in drive to work or to run the market successfully. as for the unfair treatment based on ethnicity or race, i've witnessed it as well a few times and feel the distinction quite clearly - which is unpleasant and inexcusable being asian, we have never been asked to pay cash and she even gave us a free bottle of fish sauce when we spent over 30 dollars all in all, there are alot of better options nowadays to pick up asian groceries - manila has been bumped down to one of my last choices for asian grocery shopping. i only really go now when i need certain particular items that other places dont carry.
