The beach location was beautiful and the instructor showed up on time with good equipment. e spent more time practicing on the sand than actually surfing, and once in the water, the instructor gave minimal feedback before leaving us mostly on our own. The "guaranteed to stand up" promise in their email turned out to be more of a marketing line than reality, and the session ended awkwardly with a long wait for the boards to be collected and no clear wrap-up. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but for the price and reputation, I expected a more organized and engaging lesson.

It was comforting to know Marci was right there in the water with me and she was great at assisting me in getting waves. The long foam board that was provided was perfect for learning since it was light, soft, and super buoyant. I'm looking forward to phase 2 of training where I'll learn how to pick my own waves and paddle. If you are a kid or a kid at heart you'll love learning how to surf with Marci (or her sister who I'm sure is just as wonderful)! So, when my friend came to visit us we figured what better than surfing lessons? My husband met Ryan Ragan of Vast Oceans when Ryan was teaching another class. Ryan was patient, thorough and prepared. Our experience was that Ryan was not only prepared for our children with right size boards, but had a tent up for the parents to relax in the shade on a very hot day. (Chair not included. So bring one!). Ryan went over board safety, how to fall properly so as to not get hurt, when to exit the board so as to not get hurt, proper board care, style and grace, how to get out into the surf, the steps of getting up on the board. He helps the kids get confidence and comfort. He does not push them to go beyond comfort zone but continuously reminds them what steps they will be doing. He is patient and kind. Definitely wants kids to have the joy of surfing and solid instruction. What to bring: long sleeved sun shirt (aka rash guard) sunscreen for legs and all other exposed areas, towel, chair (if you want to sit) your cell phone or camera for some great photo opportunity's if you are watching. Bring a snack and drink. You will have a break and it's a great time to get hydrated and apply sunscreen on legs again. Don't forget to tip!

I was hoping I could get in that afternoon because I was going to be busy with work the rest of the week. Ryan got back with me before I landed and was happy to say he'd fit me in a couple hours after I landed. He said he's been at it all day, but wanted to fit me in (we ended up going to 6.30 or so). I had read around at some lesson reviews in the area, and I saw numerous ones that gave me the idea that I probably wouldn't even be standing up on the board that day -- but hey, I was gonna get in what I could. To my amazement, Ryan had me up on a board and riding within the hour. I was ecstatic since I wasn't even expecting to get up on the board at all. At the end of the set, he was sure to push me to get a good one in so I could end it on a smile instead of a fall. Killer lesson, had a blast and I'm hooked now. Really wish I could've made it back for more that week. Anyway -- super personable and nice guy. Thanks Ryan! I'll definitely swing in again the next time I'm through there.

Not only did the employee NOT wash his hands, he was NOT wear gloves while dislodging the ice cream off the scooper into the cup using his fingers... On that note we decided to head out & while planning our next stop before pulling out, the employee went outside & took off his shirt & started smoking something (not sure what, but it was no cigarette). Needless to say our experience there was rather shocking & un-sanitary; even by pre-covid standards.
