After returning from a trip where I was on my feet for 3 days straight and walked ~ 18 miles in as much time, I was in new pain layered on top of existing back pain. After reading about how a certain popular massage chain comes in heavy with a sales pitch post massage, ruining your calm, I wanted to look into local options.
I was able to book online easily late the night before for a following day evening appointment - I was glad to see they had availability! When I filtered to "female only" providers, no spots were available, but if I clicked "with anyone," evening appts were open, so I was fully expecting a male therapist. I got a female one, so this filter has something wonky going on - FYI.
The parking lot was a little odd. It's right next to Rejects Brewing and the spots are right in front of the building. Their sandwich board sign had fallen over which probably is why I was confused at first. My therapist met me right in the lobby and introduced herself and shook my hand. The facility had trendy decor and relaxing music. It smelled of spa oils - mostly calming, but they almost smelled like they started to go a little bad, so that was slightly offputting.
The massage room was dim and the table had heated blankets. I felt like a cozy fetus tucked into the womb during my whole appointment, I could have laid there for hours relaxing! I chose a "Blended Pressure" massage, as I thought a light one wouldn't be therapeutic enough for the pain I was in. At only one point when she was working on my shoulders was it remotely painful, but it was over quickly, and having done therapeutic massage in the past I knew sometimes this is necessary to get out knots.
I had asked for a lot of problem areas to be worked on - feet, legs, back, shoulder, hips - and she got to all within a 60 minute session except for hips. She also did some massage on my arms and hands, head and face which was unexpected, but actually felt amazing! I didn't realize I had tension in my jaw as I was laying there, but it immediately went away.
My therapist checked in a couple times to make sure I was OK and asked if I was feeling relief yet. When I flipped over, she had a towel wrapped over my eyes to block out any light. Some aromatherapy was used - a perky blend of eucalyptus and lemon oils that helped me breathe deeper. I was able to get up slowly at the end and had a huge glass of water (I felt so fancy drinking it out of a wine glass!) waiting for me, as well as a little snack of the juiciest pineapple ever and a bit of chilled chocolate - such a sweet touch to help you come back to life before you drive away!
I was able to tip on my credit card and the therapist was asking for some feedback afterwards and we had a nice conversation, I wasn't rushed out at all even though it was the end of the day. It was a bit pricy but I'm already brainstorming who I can take with me to do a private session for my birthday. This would be a great spot for a couples or friends event as they do private rentals or small group events. If you're in pain or desperately need to relax, this beautiful and clean facility is a wonderful option! read more
