Today, or perhaps it's just this particular library, there are so many kids running around, crying babies, and so much noise! It almost felt like I was at Walmart without the groceries! Depending on who you ask for help, but most just sit around and point you to places without giving proper direction or information. I don't know his name, but he was the only man working there and practically gave me a mini tour of the place! Not only can you borrow books, you can borrow DVDs, CDs, and play online games on the computer. Oh yea, the guy also showed me how to check out! Remember I told you it's been years? Well now you stack your books/DVDs/CDs and the scanner will read all the barcodes at once. Mind. Blown. Hahaha. When you do come in here to get a library card, make sure you bring a photo ID and proof of your current address to get registered. I got a temporary card so I can only borrow up to 3 items and return them within 21 days. You can print out a receipt for a reminder to return them.

Pick up on Wednesday and drop back on Tuesday. Saved $75.00 and we used it for 4 state parks. Like Goblin Valley, Green River State Park, Dead horse point and Jordanelle reservoir to name a few . One library perk I won't complain about. FYI one time use a year. Two thing about turning the pass back in; every day its late its $10 bucks and you have to turn it in person, no drop box.

All of the levels and common areas had an abundance of space and tall ceilings! The stairs and elevators were close together and easy to navigate. The Children's Library on the downstairs level was adorable! It brandished childrens' artwork, play tables and many other fun ideas. We ventured through each level and then made our way to the rooftop which had a lot of seating and spectacular views of downtown SLC and its surroundings. The weather was perfect to stay up there and chat for an hour. We also visited the Library Bees- we didn't expect to find Langstroth hives inside a library. This is the coolest library I've been to in the US. If you love books and libraries this is a can't miss experience.

There's an enclosed outdoor area as well, an "attic," so much tactile stuff, even an enclosed play pen for littles with walls of board books. And that's just one of five floors (+ rooftop garden). There are shops and a cafe on the main entrance. They give you two free hours of parking, which will FLY by. Honestly, I could live here.

What an amazing little gem. I've tried the Taylorsville branch which is a little "nicer" but doesn't have the play area like this. It really is amazing. I never leave reviews but I was so upset by my visit today that a review felt necessary. I went to…read moresee if I had a library card and the lady at the help desk told me I didn't and showed me how to apply. After filling out the lengthy application I went to the card desk to find out I had a card 14 years ago when I was a minor and it had a balance. The lady at card desk then asked the manager on duty and if they could set me up on an informal payment plan. She approved the plan and they left a note on my account stating so. I went back a few hours later to see a new staff. One of which was stating they were the supervisor. I stated that I had to check out with an attendant due to a balance owed, that I was on a payment plan and they said I could still check out during that time. She stated that I would not be checking out anything until the amount due was under $25. That is not what I was told by their morning managers. She was very rude and after me explaining multiple times she eventually said "did you even pay anything today?" I said I did and she very rudely stated I could check out 1 book only and that would be the only book I check out until the bill is under $25. I understand that there are policies in place but those were not previously stated to me. I did not appreciate the fact that she was not nice or welcoming at all and had a big attitude problem. I don't see how we're encouraged to go to libraries and use our local resources when there are people like this running them. It would be nice if everyone were on the same page. Most likely won't be returning to this location even though it's closest to me, I don't appreciate being spoken to like that especially in front of others. I hope she's nicer to her employees.

My daughter begs to come everyday so we are frequents! I would expect my daughter to enjoy the park outside so much that she forgets about the library altogether but that's just how awesome it is! She cries to go inside and read all the books.

The Taylorsville…read morelocation isn't my typical go-to since there are others closer to home, but I found myself here for a book club recently and took some time to look around. In typical fashion, they provide much more than just books. There's a community bulletin board at the entrance-I love to explore those; they give such a sense of what's going on locally. It was also autumn season and the library was giving away a roll of leaf bags-one per family. What a neat service! The vibe is energetic, but quiet-just like a library should be. Not dead, but a place where people can study, concentrate or quietly mingle. Plenty of seating as well as meeting rooms where groups can gather, such as the book club I attended. I don't love the parking lot situation. The drive up to return books crosses with the main traffic and there's no clear place for pedestrians. When there are a lot of visitors, it makes for a confusing intersection, and possibly dangerous. Otherwise, it's a lovely place to curl up with a book and enjoy!

One of my favorite memories from when I was younger was seeing the adorable hamsters they kept in a small enclosure near the kids' area. Sometimes they would even let the hamsters explore the library in little hamster balls, which was always fun to watch. The library does an amazing job creating a space for children. They regularly host fun events and activities, and although the play area isn't huge, it's a place where so many great memories are made. There are also tables set up for kids to read, draw, and work on crafts. I used to spend so much time playing there after walking to the library with my grandma. Eventually we stopped going, but now that I'm a little older I've started coming back on my own. It's become one of my favorite places to relax. Normally I don't enjoy reading very much, but there's something about the quiet, comfortable atmosphere here that actually makes me want to pick up a book. They also have a quiet study room, which has been a huge help with school whenever I need a peaceful place to focus. This library has been a part of my life for years, and I'm grateful to have such an amazing place in the community. Whether you're looking for a good book, a quiet place to study, or somewhere to bring your kids, I couldn't recommend it more. It truly deserves five stars.

The staff are so friendly and helpful to the community and I am so grateful that students have more opportunities to perform and share their talents at the public library. In particular, Andrea Wilkinson, who is the director for the children's programs, was so welcoming and friendly to us at our Christmas recital this week! One can check out telescopes, use 3D printers, get personal meeting rooms and more. The library programa are constant and extremely well put together, catering to kids (reading clubs, parties) to teens (D&D, cosplay) to adults (book clubs, art exhibits). On top of all this, it's beautifully decorated! Only occasional problems are those stemming from people bringing their cell phone conversations into the library and talking out loud.

How appropriate right?! We had a private reserved room for our discussion and could see the bookshelves through the glass wall. It was perfect! This library, as I'm sure many do, had a section for children, teens and adults. That makes it nice for people to browse age-appropriate books and maybe make some friends while they are here.

There are big windows everywhere, comfy seats, little pockets of calm where you can read, think, or journal about how magical the place is. SLC Library…read morepeeps have already proven that with the downtown wonder, but even though this lil' guy is just a wee one, doesn't mean they didn't make it nice, because they really made something wonderful. I was looking to plan a meeting and as a card carrying member, I remembered that they let you book rooms here for free with your library account. We grabbed one of the study rooms, booked it out several days in advance, and had a really productive time. You can only book two hour blocks total, but how handy is that? The library itself is beautiful inside and out, with stories worth of stories (see what I did there?). The room we were in was on the second story, but now that they're building that massive structure to the north, the northerly views are obstructed. Still, that second story has an outdoor deck area that looks like it would amazing in better weather. Kudos to SLC Library for planting this in the up-and-coming Marmalade District and making it a fixture for years to come.
