Had a very good smoked salmon benny there. Was on freshly toasted baguette and just the right amount of hollandaise (which was tasty). My partner had the vegan benny. It seemed to be mainly kale and avocado with some vegan hollandaise - wasn't very filling for him. Would have helped if they added a slice of smoked tofu of something. read more

If you don't get an "Oat Back Cookie" from this place, you are just losing money. This oatback cookie will feed you and your family all day. It's full of nuts, dates, coconut, fruit, oats, and everything in between. You need this cookie in your life. I got 2 over the course of 5 days and I've been eatin' this last cookie. The fruit smoothies are great. Can't go wrong. They hit the spot and easily the best on the island. Let me tell you about the last time I went here. I was hungry, some might famished. There was a breakfast bun available, but it was 16 dollars. And I don't eat a lot in the morning so that felt steep to me at the time. I looked in the window and saw a 10 dollar chicken pesto croissant. I chose that, since it was a little cheaper and I figured I'd only eat half. No. No sir. I ate that whole thing. It was one of the most delicious croissants I've ever tasted. The garlic butter was unreal. I could have drank it from a stray. Fresh and delicious. read more

Came here again for a coffee! Saw that they were offering a Lavendar Earl Grey drink and decided to try it out. Unfortunately it tasted VERY watered down, and quite bland :( If I were to go back to the island, my go-to would be iced mocha and their cappucino. read more

A surprisingly good cooked breakfast menu to go with the famous coffee. A large indoor space and patios on both sides of the restaurant. A nice alternative to carb-heavy bakeries, though I could have eaten twice as much toast with my eggs, bacon, potatoes, and salad since the blackberry jam was so delicious! I'd definitely come back here when I visit Ganges again, even though I make Salt Spring Coffee every day at home. read more

We were on saltspring looking to get a snack and coffee in the morning. The website said that Salt Spring cafe was open at 7 am. Good said "now open", so we went there at about 8 am, but there was a closed sign on the door and all lights were off. read more

Good coffee and decent croissants? What a welcome discovery! The bathrooms are clean and modern. The wifi was reliable although the internet uplink was a bit congested. Good enough for working remotely, even if the video and audio got a little choppy at times. Pretty great! read more

Salt Spring's flagship location has a lot less 'rah' than one would expect: it's large, rather plain and bustling with locals. Without the famed name, there would be no way that I'd suspect this was the birthplace of one of BC's most well known coffee businesses. And that is what I like about it. The funny part? Well, it turns out that the beans are no longer roasted on the island due to complaints about the smell (umm), so now the famed Salt Spring beans are roasted in--wait for it--Richmond BC! My iced coffee was great and I'm looking forward to tasting an even fresher sample from the beans in my back yard. Who knew! : ) read more

When we are staying on Salt Spring, this is the first place we go to start our day. The coffee is wonderful and their breakfast sandwiches are delicious (I highly recommend the pesto). They offer a great gluten free breakfast sandwich that my wife simply adores. We can't find anything comparable to it in Vancouver. read more

Coffee's good! Tunisian Tomato, soup of the day, was meh! We visited here a few times in the last few days while we were vacationing here on Salt Spring, but part of the allure for us were the wierd people about (and I'm not referring to the younger hippy crowd). A soupy weekend at Salt Spring island landed me at Salt Spring coffee, Fresh sandwiches, good coffee, ample seating, Salt spring coffee is a very genuine spot to grab lunch or a hot drink. Not really astounding decor or anything, but it's a modest, comfortable, and fairly modern space (Not minimalist but 2013 industrial modern) If you're visiting town, check it out. I have mixed feelings about this place. The coffee is great, a little disappointing that the beans are no longer roasted on-island, but still fantastic flavor (and a crazy buzz off their newest addition, the Cold Toddy)...My major complaint is their tea, particularly the chai. I thought for sure I'd be getting a delicious brewed tea, I was handed a cup of milk mixed with chai concentrate. For a coffee shop with such great joe, you'd think they'd put the same efforts into their tea. read more

I saw these guys at the Salt Spring in The City show at Heritage Hall over the weekend. I am not surprised that they had some representation at the fair as you can but their coffee locally here in Vancouver at various locations. I am a huge fan of their roast next to 49th Parallel, therefore, huge thumbs up for me. read more

4 days on Salt Spring Island, and 2 visits to Salt Spring Coffee, sitting inside on a drizzly day, and enjoying the outdoor seating when the sun was shining. There's a large flat screen monitor on the wall that had a gorgeous array of island photos showing, and the shop was buzzing with locals and tourists. The coffee was excellent, and the strong fair trade mission abounds on wall panels and packaging. The aroma of roasting coffee is missing - apparently some NIMBYs decided that the coffee company couldn't expand its roasting facility on the island - they didn't want to smell the coffee? Wow! Anyway, a great spot in downtown Ganges, with super people watching seats on the front porch, and just a few steps away from pretty much everything else Ganges has to offer. QUICK TIP: The Visitors Bureau is close by and offers an amazing amount of info on the island and activities - stop by and chat with the friendly folks! read more

This is a terrific lunch or breakfast or coffee/tea & a goodie stop in Ganges Village. Fair trade roasted coffee from the parent company, of course, plus on site baked goods...and one of the best cappucinos on the Island! Pies, chocolate croissants, soups, sandwiches, all the coffee and tea options you may desire...and they allow artists to display works on their walls...you never know who you will discover, here! McPhillips Avenue location, close to everything, with patio tables for finer weather. Did I mention peanut butter cookies?? Put this one on your linger & enjoy list...people watching, too! read more

The pie, and service by Brittany are world class. Great way to start the day with the best cup of coffee on salt spring. It's a shame the beans are no longer roasted on salt spring, but the excellent quality remains the same. Another underrated favourite is the delicious toffee bar.
