Finally made it to Salted Butter Farms and let them know we were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary! Showed up to this lovely greeting and proceeded to have incredible food. Greg had the Biscuits and Gravy with Scrambled Eggs(delicious) and I had the Beef Tips with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli! Yum! As an anniversary gift, we received a free dessert and got the Apple Pie Cinnamon Roll with Cream Cheese and it was to die for decadent! The Owners/Chefs came by the table to welcome us and shared delightful historical details of their stunning property with us! If you get the chance, I highly recommend stopping in and dining here! Just after crossing the Border from Canada to the USA we started looking for places to dine and we luckily found the Salted Butter Farm. The purple old house is inviting and has a warm feel. First ones in, we were seated immediately and welcomed like family. Owner's wife stopped by the table and chatted about the place and then went off to make our appetizer. We told us to look around the house and check everywhere. Hot tip, bring something purple, you make get a free treat from the lady of the house Hummus plate is delicious. All homemade hummus, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, Parmesan cheese and GF crackers. Main dish, blueberries with sal was light, refreshing and perfectly balanced. Potatoes were completed cooked and crispy on the outside. Bacon, I mean come on. Thick and crispy. We are trying to figure out how and when to come back. Located on the corner you will find a charming purple house known as Salted Butter Farm. They came recommended by the owners of Grizzly Antiques. So after shopping there I headed to SBF for a quick lunch. Parking is easy peasy, just find a spot in various areas around the restaurant. Once inside I was warmly greeted and seated quick. The house is beautifully decorated both outside and inside. The local town and area charm is throughout while keeping the history alive. They have a pretty extensive menu and specials for the week. I chose to get the winner winner chicken dinner and the strawberry shortcake. The winner winner chicken dinner came with breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli and a goblet of gravy. It was all fantastic. A classic dinner, no bells or whistles which is what I was craving... a classic meal. Everything was flavored well and hot. The strawberry shortcake is the classic I know and love in this area of northern Maine. It was a grilled biscuit, whipped cream and juicy sliced strawberries. It was the perfect end to a classic dish. The biscuit was the perfect size and grilled nicely. The staff were so kind. It was great seeing the interactions with other guests. If I could have one last meal, and know it was my last meal, it would be from Salted Butter Farm. It's that good, and the owner is that nice. Birthdays are special, and it was my companions. There was a birthday card on the table, and a sweet gift. Who does that? The dining rooms are in a house from the 1800's and there is art on each wall. I loved the old windows, each with imperfections that screamed charm. M There were games for children who were bored with their dinner companions. I got to surreptitiously watch a kid beat his mom at a Connect Four--and it was fun. The food was exquisite and entirely scratch made. The starter, bruschetta, was on great bread that was made a few houses over. The lasagna was on house made pasta. The limoncello desert was so light and airy, it was a lemon cloud. I have never had such a great cake! Prices were great and I left happy and full, with leftovers to have another full meal. It's worth the ride. I'll be dreaming of that lasagna. read more

From the moment our party of 6 entered the purple house it was all smiles. We were greeted with smiles, seated promptly, and a server was by our table to take a drink order. The atmosphere is fun. The interior of the house displays pictures of the history of the house, and some fun signs for a giggle here and there. Our orders were taken and the food came out hot and delicious. The beef tips were tender, the chicken parm was cooked perfect. Two of us had pork sliders, which were my personal favorite! So so good!!
