The chef we were assigned is a joy to work with and accommodating to our family's meal preferences. However, the salted chef platform and service is abysmal. Communication is horrific. Itemized documentation for charges does not exist. No one answers the phone. Email responses take days to receive. The program has potential, but it needs leadership, transparency, and accountability. I worked with Ryan at salted Chef for over six weeks on the menu that would accommodate all the food allergies in our 10 person family group who would be staying in Eden Utah over New Year's 2025. Ryan was very responsive. Barely a week before the meal was to be prepared, and after I had been told, the chef would be arriving at 1 PM on the day I was told that there was no chef. The chef had canceled and he could not reassign another chef. There was no recourse, we had already purchased some of the items for the meal. I have a really great experience with Salted Chef. I've been stressed about my diet lately and have lost the desire to cook (which I normally love!) and needed some help getting on track. I found Salted Chef and Ryan was communicative right away. I was able to be very specific with my dietary requests (weight loss, clean eating, no dairy or soy etc) and they sent a proposed menu. I was able to review and pick what I wanted and didn't and chef Dylan was available for my grocery shop questions. I chose to shop for myself but might have them do it next time. We scheduled two meals with Ryan at the salted chef. Checked and rechecked menus. Both nights menu's were approved and three days before our first dinner for 18 people, I got a text simply stating, there would be no chef coming.... for either night. I did not get a reason or an excuse, just 'thank you for understanding' which I did not. If you need to count on a chef, do not book The Salted Chef. read more

So far so good. I've had excellent customer service as we've got started. Ryan at their customer service answered my every question and helped me understand the process. Chef Bruce has been a dream so far, I am happy to say. We're still getting our feet under us, in terms of what we really like and need, but that'll come along, I have no doubt. He made lovely dishes for us, talked with me about what we really like, as well as what we avoid (dairy, seafood, some other things we just don't like or prefer not to have in our food). We're setting up our second menu today. Chef Bruce came on time, was in touch about ingredients - he prefers to shop for himself, which makes sense to me, and it's worth the delivery cost to me to have him feel good about what he's cooking. This first time around, things were not as strongly seasoned as I hope the will be in the future, but I'm sure that will come. I'll post another review once we are in the groove. He shopped organic as much as possible and used his connections with a local butcher to be sure that the salmon, steaks and chicken were top quality. Klaus arrived early so we could get to know him better. We learned that Klaus received culinary training at age 13 as a vocational choice in German schools. Then he received more training in Germany's Merchant Marines. His experiences in Australia, the Bahamas, the Marriott Hotels gave him experiences beyond the average chef. Klaus has perfect timing and comes prepared with the ingredients ready to go. He taught me as I asked questions and with all the extra ingredients left behind I am motivated to be a smarter cook. I decided to try Salted Chef after it was recommended by some of my friends. I have been using Hello Fresh, which we like, but you still have to prepare. I really wanted to try something that would already be prepared and ready for us to reheat. The chef came and worked independently. She was very professional. Pretty disappointed.... our food was very cold. We waited about 20-30 minutes between courses. I almost felt like maybe they didn't buy enough groceries to feed all of us because we got the bare minimum on our plates. I contacted Salted Chef in a panic when a company I was originally working with cancelled on me less than a week before my event. I emailed them on a Sunday evening and had a response Monday morning. They quickly put together a menu for me to review and were so patient with my alteration requests to that menu. The front end business part of this transaction was seamless! The chef assigned to my event, Jaren, executed everything perfectly! He called and consulted with me a few days prior to the event to make sure we were on the same page with everything, he was on time and extremely kind and easy to work with. The food was AMAZING!!! I was planning a dinner for 6 ladies and contacted the company 4-5 weeks before the din er date. I got an email back the next day with instructions to call. The 800 number didn't work (odd). I emailed back to call me that day. No response. I got another email the following day with apologies. Ok. Ryan was going to call. Nope - it never happened. A few days later, I emailed again saying I didn't get my call back. Again, no response. I was contacted by Ryan and he informed me I would be paid a agreed amount to execute this dinner, after I had some suspicions and felt slightly reluctant to do the catering I decided to do it anyway. Well when it came to getting paid I was NOT paid the agreed amount. My service was not the issue the client left fantastic reviews on my own Facebook page, and I've been doing this for more than half my life I know when I have a good night. So I emailed Ryan to ask him if there was just a mix up in pay roll, you would think someone who wants to act so professional would at least email me back but we are Days Inn and I haven't heard anything? Ryan why won't you email me back? What a joke, they use people to get there jobs done and then after the job is done good bye like a rotten case of chicken in the dumpster. they were emailing me back within minutes days before that party. The communication was fine and since Ryan and Glenn both encouraged me to communicate with my Chef for menu development to suit my needs as well as scheduling there was never a problem. First, she called to let us know she would be an hour and a half late because she got a late start and forgot ingredients at the grocery store. I got a call from her 30 minutes before dinner was supposed to be served to let me know she was having trouble finding the location. At the time dinner was to be served she called to let me know she was heading back and would not make it to our location. I called the company and they were unable to get in touch with her.
