Janna…read morewas awesome about communicating the changes with the weather and helped us rebook our tour so we wouldn't miss out on seeing dolphins. We also had the best captain on the island, Captain Todd! I cannot say enough about this wonderful gem of a man. We had booked a private tour since it was originally supposed to be the entire family, but because of changes not everyone was in town yet. It ended up just being four of us on the small boat and it was worth it. Captain Todd was so knowledgable about the island, the dolphins and the tides. Our 4.5 yo is very curious and Captain Todd answered every questions like a pro! After she told him that she loved seashells he made a special excursion to shell island (I never even knew all those banks were shells and not sand!) and found her the most amazing shells to take home. We saw so many dolphins! The dolphin tour was equal parts exhilarating and relaxing and we were so happy it worked out even with the impending storm. Both my 4.5yo and 9mo loved the tour and neither were afraid at any point even though it was there first time on a speed boat. We will definitely be back!

We saw TONS of dolphins and jellyfish, and he took us to shell island! Mark was super knowledgeable about the island and the nature around us. Highly recommend doing a tour with Commander Zodiac - it feels like such a personalized experience with people who know their stuff and care about the environment.

For nostalgic reasons, I decided to treat the family to one on our visit to Hilton Head this year. We were fortunate to find a parking space in the parking lot near the Lighthouse at Sea Pines. We walked around a bit until one of the benches in the harbor opened up. The family stayed there while I went to figure out where to get onto the boat. This gave me the opportunity to take some pictures in the harbor. When we boarded the boat, we were guided to a table on the lower deck which was air conditioned. The sun was blazing through the window and we unfortunately did not have a shade that we could pull down like there were at some of the other tables. We made the best of it. Our server was very friendly. He explained that he was working to meet people and to see what he could learn. By the end of the trip, he exchanged information with my son. The meal was surprisingly good. I was skeptical and thought that it might be bland because it was mass produced. Every dish was prepared well and had good flavor. Everyone in my party truly enjoyed their meals. The sights are tremendous. We saw a few dolphins while the boat was underway. The sunset was breathtaking. I definitely recommend this experience.

The island is walkable, but we opted for the 11am Ferry and if we had opted for no golf cart, it would have felt like we missed a lot. The ladies at the check in were great. Unfortunately, they had to deal with a Karen that obviously didn't read how it worked. If they made the reservation online, you clearly picked a departure from Hilton Head and then your departure from Dafauskie Island. With that being said, if there's a review for Memorial Day 2026 that's bad, don't pay attention to it. Our Ferry ride operator was cool. It was a smooth ride in both directions. Left on time both directions.

When we finally got the boat, it was in very poor condition. The cushions were ripped and worn, making it clear the boat hadn't been well maintained. The biggest problem, however, was the motor. It struggled the entire time, topped out at around 9 mph, and constantly sounded like it was about to die. We spent more time worrying about whether we'd make it back than enjoying our day on the water. Overall, the condition of the boat did not match what we expected, and the combination of the incorrect meeting location and poorly maintained equipment made for a frustrating experience. I hope the company addresses these issues so future customers have a better experience.

I live in a tourist town in Florida so it's annoying but part of life in paradise. I guess the entrance fee covers your parking because it's all free once you pass the guard gates, all that's required is luck finding a space within a reasonable walking distance, I got lucky today being someone was pulling out just as I arrived at the preferred parking lot a stones throw from the pier. The pier is well constructed and offers some great views and a covered sitting area at the end. There are plenty of charter businesses that run parallel to the pier and a number of placards describing some of the local bird and sea inhabitants. I always spend some time on the local piers when visiting different areas they all seem to offer a few moments of serenity. There is also a walking beach close by that looks like it offers some shelling opportunities but today that option looks limited, I'm sure most visitors grab a few free souvenirs from here. It's a must do while visiting Harbour Town and this alone is worth the price of admission when considering the parking is free...

We checked it out, took our pictures, and moved along. I think the Daufuskie Island Ferry might stop here, but certainly any number of harbor (harbour?) cruises depart and return from here.
