Five stars all around for our experience with OAR. My husband wanted to go whitewater rafting on…read morethe Ocoee for his birthday this year, and after a quick search through Yelp and beyond, OAR is one of the best rated rafting companies in the area. We booked the Middle River trip, which totals about 3 hours and includes 1.5 hours on the river itself. I booked our trip a couple of weeks in advance online, and I'm glad I did, because they sold out for the day! It was $65 per person, which feels like a fair price for the experience. They recommend arriving 30 minutes early, which will give you plenty of time to get checked in and get your party situated. Definitely bring sunscreen and a plastic water bottle, along with the proper water shoes and attire. You're instructed to leave everything in your car, and then drop your keys off with the front desk staff for pick-up after your rafting trip. The safety briefing started right on time, and basically consists of what to do if you end up going overboard. It's not meant to be scary, and most of it is self-intuitive. There were about 60 people in our group, and the majority of rafts held 6 people. After the safety talk was over, everyone gets their own lifejacket, oar, and helmet. Then you and the rest of your crew hops on a school bus, which will take you to the drop-off site about 20 minutes away. This is where we met our rafting guide, Cleveland, and after a quick demo on paddling and how to sit in the raft, we were off on our adventure! Our time on the water was so much fun, and I want to shout out how incredible Cleveland was from the beginning to the end. He was an awesome mix of friendly, engaging, and informative, which made our trip all the more memorable! As a group of two, we were paired with two other random couples to fill out our raft, which was a great way to meet some new people. Overall this was an amazing experience, and we can't wait to do it again soon. We'll definitely be booking the full river trip next time!

We came yesterday and I genuinely can't stop thinking about how special it was…read more I called last minute in the afternoon after my little one woke up from his nap, not really expecting much -- but they fit us in that same day. From the moment we arrived, Ray made us feel so welcome. He had the horse ready for us, walked us through everything, and was so patient and attentive making sure my little one felt safe and comfortable the whole ride. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does. What we didn't expect was everything that came after. We got to explore the petting zoo, meet the farm animals, and then a staff member came over and introduced us to a baby goat that was only a few days old, my little one's face was absolutely priceless. And then the moment that made this visit truly unforgettable, while my son was laughing away on the horse shaped tire swing, I glanced over and noticed a wobbly little goat behind us. Turns out we were witnessing a mama goat giving birth right there in front of us. Completely unplanned, totally magical. My little one got a nature lesson he'll probably never forget. This place has the most wonderful energy and the staff clearly care deeply about both the animals and their guests. We will absolutely be back. Highly recommend!

I'm an experienced rider and my husband is a beginner, and our guide, Dave, did a fantastic job matching us with horses (and a mule!) that fit our individual experience levels. He also tailored the trail and ride to our abilities, which made the experience fun and memorable for both of us. For our second ride, it had been raining quite a bit, so Dave took us on a one-hour route where the trails were dry enough and safe for the horses. We really appreciated that their safety and well-being came first, and we still had an amazing time. Both rides were such a highlight of our trip. Thank you, Dave, for being such a great guide and for making us feel so welcome in Blue Ridge! We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in the area

For our wedding anniversary, we exchanged our original wedding vows again and shared such a lovely emotionally intimate moment that I will cherish for a lifetime. Our tour guide was so down to earth easy to talk to. She pointed out wildlife and took so many great photos for us! We rode through the woods, did a small creek crossing where the horses got a nice cold drink, and even took photos where we could see 3 places at once! (NC, TN, GA) the horses were very tame, sweet, and obedient and I can't wait to come back!

The river is just a short walk down a well lit path at night deep enough to wade in with lots of chairs, fire pit and a horse shoe pit. We'll be returning when staying in that area again. The instructors, from my experience and what I heard, were super animated and energetic! They made the experience for us first timers, a breeze and fun. There's a photographer who follows you along the way in which you can purchase all the photos at the end for $45. Given the quality of the photos, I feel as though it's a very fair price especially as we ended up with almost 40 pictures to look through. Overall, I had a perfect first white water rafting experience. There's bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms on site if you want to freshen up for the long car ride home. All the staff members were great especially our guide, Justin!! I would love love to come again and do the longer 6 hour ride in the near future. Highly recommend this company!
