This spot reminded me of an SF type of liquor store/deli that my brother took me to. I liked their selection of alcohol, and they even have a small shelf of sake! There's a deli in the back and then a spot next door to eat your food. If timing ever works out on my next visit, I'd like to take part in their tastings. I stopped in at Salut because they are now sharing space with The Cheese Lady (better known for their shop out at Texas Township on Q). The Cheese Lady has a lot of super goods to go with your cheese, like Marcona almonds, nifty crackers, and fig spread. Pre cut cheeses are in their cooler case, or you can try a sample of an item before you buy. The selection is a little heavy on Goudas and hard cheeses like Manchego, but you can still find goat and mixed source cheese among their selection if you hunt for it. read more

Yet another amazing tasting at Salut for Kalamazoo Beer Week. Because it's less busy than other venues, brand ambassadors seem to really bring their A-game here. Last year we got the chance to try an ultra-rare Shorts beer during their tasting, and this year the Deschutes rep served as one of the best tour guides for his brand. He also hinted that Abyss should be hitting shelves this week, possibly at the Deschutes and Ladders event at Shakespeare's Friday. read more

I recently visited Salut Market for a night cap while visiting some family in Michigan. I wish the Yelp listing was more updated to showcase the bar they recently added to the market. The bar is a great addition to the Kalamazoo food/drink scene and brings a little 'boujeeness' as well. They have a fantastic wine and beer selection as well as nice small plates to go along with your beverages. Not 100% sure if they're open till 10pm or 11pm, I would call if you're looking to get a drink on the later side to ensure they are still ready to fill your tummies with craft beer and delicious Italian wines. I will be back to Salut Market next time I'm in town and I plan on exploring more of the menu. Pro Tip - the market attached to the bar should become your go to place to get wine. They have competitive prices and are cheaper than places like Tiffany's, but perhaps not as cheap as some places such as a megabev. They have a somewhat decent liquor selection, though it feels like they chose a new location that is going to be far too small, compared to their gull-road location. They sound like they want to get in more products but won't have much place to put them. Their staff tries to be helpful, and even if they can't help they're at least very friendly. Haven't tried the deli, but their prices are really fair and I look forward to trying it someday. read more

This is a nice little store with a good variety of products. The staff is friendly. I tried 2 of the deli sandwiches and just really don't like the dense bread they use. And each sandwich had a different bread. The caprese has mozzarella balls instead of slices, which is odd. The po boy was on a pretty thick sub roll. The items are fresh but just not for me. It's on my way home and I will stop in again for some other items. read more

Really good sandwiches hidden away in the back of this tiny wine store. They are pretty pricy but you pay for quality. Wine selection is so so but you can find some solid deals. I miss when they had more sides to accompany the sandwich. Rachel takes great offence to sandwiches served with chips. Definitely worth a try finding this hidden gem. No reviews for this place, eh? Well it's a wine and liquor store so what's there to talk about? Well, yeah, not much but it's worth noting a few things about this place. The selection is deceptively good considering it's tucked into a relatively small space in a strip mall and it's worth noting that when I was there one of the employees (manager?) was very friendly and helpful. Not pushy, just available enough that I knew he was there if I needed anything. We chatted briefly and all in all a good experience. Have been there a few times and would go back again. read more

My husband is in Kzoo often for work, so I generally force him to run beerands for me to bring back fresh beers that don't distribute to Illinois. (FYI, not all beer mules are women, case in point, haha). I gave the store a call, and low and behold, they had exactly what I was looking for in stock, and even told me it had just come in that morning. I sent my husband along to pick up said beers, and he also grabbed a BBA beer I haven't had from a local brewery. I was really pleased with the customer service (from Salut, not my husband, lol), and appreciated that the guy who answered the phone (who I assume is the owner, based on his knowledge) knew exactly what I was looking for when I called. There's nothing worse than having someone answer the phone at a liquor store who clearly has no idea what you're asking about. Thanks, Salut Market! read more

We just moved to the neighborhood. The full bar and food is wonderful. Been here 3 times and tried various drink and food options. Superb food and lovely beer, wine, and cocktail choices. Cuban sandwich, gumbo dumplings, street tacos...all surprisingly delicious. Don't be thrown off by the strip mall on the outside. One side is the market and deli. The other side is a dimly lit, warm and inviting, well decorated (think Restoration Hardware), friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant. I highly recommend. read more

Me and my wife stopped in for some liquor. The service was absolute top-notch and for a small store, it had very good variety...The employee was not pushy; he even recommended us a different brand of the same liquor we havent tried yet that turned out to be infinitely better than our choice. I tried asking if they have a certain type of weird liquor just to see if they had it; lo and behold, they had it and knew it the instant I mentioned it. Update: I was finally able to find a liquor that they don't stock; a french regional aperitif by the name of Pineau des Charentes but lo and behold they are willing to order it for you. To their defense, I've never found a liquor store stateside to carry it. This place is still my liquor store of choice just for the quality of customer service that I get. read more

Two weeks ago I stopped in the store to order 6 bottles of a wine my husband and I purchased a few days earlier that we enjoyed. We also asked the brand new female clerk where the Campari was, she had never heard of it. Today we stopped in to check on our wine order. NO, nobody called, but thought we would check anyway. Again, a brand new clerk, and he wanted to know why we would come in without a phone call informing us it was in. So he went to get a woman, manager I guess, never saw her before, who looked through a book and it was apparently never ordered or entered in the book. I did see the original girl write something somewhere with my phone number. The worst part of the experience is nobody was too concerned when we said we would never be back, that there are other wine stores. The store is more a beer store. I have been there other times, the inventory is always low. One would think that a small store in a strip mall that is never busy, they would care about the customers they do have. read more
