We wanted an authentic winery experience when we visited Michigan recently. We were so pleased to stumble upon Cody Kresta because it was just what we were looking for. It was a great area and space with plenty of seating. Even on a cooler fall day, there was a good crowd. We each did a tasting, which was very economical and allowed us to try a bit of everything. We really enjoyed our experience, but we went on a day when they had food trucks and the truck was kind of sold out of most items, so we wish there were more food and snack options, but other than that, we had a lovely time. It was a great place to visit and we were able to take some great family photos with the beautiful scenery here. read more

This was tucked away in a neighborhood off the beaten path and highway. But I'm so glad we stopped in. We took seats out on the patio, which is super themed and comfortable with high-top tables or smaller short tables. There was a food truck parked in the driveway for pizza and other snacks - because I don't think they serve any food. We did a tasting of 4 wines for $8 - you use a dry-erase crayon to circle the ones you want, bring them up to one of the bars (inside or outside) and they will start you off on your first one. We took a few photos - had some good conversation - and I left buying a bottle of wine. There are some good varieties here and the atmosphere is comfy and enjoyable. We tried Cody Kresta after it was recommended by the staff of two other wineries. And we are glad we did. Amazing outdoor space with a large water feature surrounded by flowers. Great for relaxing with a glass of wine. Inside, the tasting bar is the smallest we've ever seen in a tasting room. It might sit five. There is also a couple of tables. We were there on a weekday when they were not busy. On weekends, they may use the outside bar. All the wines we tasted were very good. However, if you enjoy sweet wine with residual sugar north of 8%, Cody Kresta may not scratch that itch. read more

A lovely spot tucked away in the woods! This would be amazing to visit in October. We just did a quick tasting on a Friday night before closing (they stop pouring at 5:30pm) but it was quiet and cozy. There was only one other group so we were served right away. Next time I would get a bottle of the oaked Chardonnay or Chambourcin and go straight to the igloos in the back. They do have some snacks for sale. read more

Ambiance and wine quality are the two strengths of Cody Kresta. I'm so happy to have this gem a hop skip and a jump away.

While this isn't probably a five-star winery in comparison to Napa Valley or Sonoma (nor, frankly, compared to the upper echelon of Michigan wineries like Mawby, 2 Lads, Dablon, etc.), I think it's definitely the superstar of the Kzoo/Paw Paw scene due to its somewhat superior wine quality and vastly superior settling. We love their events featuring live performers and food trucks, and they do a yearly arts and crafts vendor event that's also can't miss. Their gardens offer a tranquil and lovely idyll just outside the hussle and bussle of the city. It's out of the way but worth the drive. read more

I'm going to preface this by saying it's wine made in Michigan, so I tempered my expectations. The atmosphere here is lovely and the staff are fantastic, we particularly enjoyed chatting with Lucas who seemed to really love the vineyard. The did they tasting of the 'heavy hitters'/award winning wines. There was a sauv blanc that was ok but the rest weren't great. We got a bottle of the sparkling wine which actually was decent. The patio was lovely and the snacks they had for sale were good. It would have been nice if there has been more options for the under 21 crowd but overall very pleasant experience and will happily come back if we find ourselves in this part of the world again. read more

It pains me to write this review. I always take people to this winery and have been here a couple times with the same issue each time. After a glass of wine We got a warning 30 mins before closing time (6pm) and paid up and left as soon as we had to. We were not done with our conversations, so we continued to catch up in the parking lot for about four minutes. At 6:04 Someone came out of the house and told us that we had to leave because they "had to let the dogs out, and we don't really like smoking on the property." We had a nicotine vape 100 yards from the tasting room. No signs saying this was against the rules. We politely said we were going to say our goodbyes and leave and the lady was completely rude to us continuing to tell us to leave. After 2 $15 glasses of wine a purchasing of several bottles this is the treatment we got. I am huge on customer service and I am so disappointed. This is I absolutely the last time I'll go back to this place. Winery staff tend to be friendly and passionate about their jobs and the attitude here is totally out of the ordinary. If you can't treat your customers with respect and not rush them out of the parking lot at 6:04 when closing time is 6 PM then you do not deserve my business. read more

They're were 3 ladies working that didn't explain anything about wines and didn't even rinse glass in between pores. The place is fairly difficult to find, but yes, GPS (and the event signs) helped. I keep coming back to the word "adorable" to describe this winery. When we arrived, I couldn't help but snapping pictures and felt I'd be doing everyone a disservice if I didn't share them on Yelp. The landscaping is really well done which starts the wine tasting out right. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. You check off six to seven wines to try, and they were excellent at giving recommendations based on what kinds of wine we said we liked. To be completely honest, I was waffling between four and five stars. On one hand, the wine wasn't particularly spectacular. On the other, it still tasted good, and I don't have a single negative thing to say. I ended up going with five stars because the whole experience was so completely enjoyable, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It's $5/person to taste (and an extra $5 if you try the ice wine), but these will go toward any wine purchases you make. Tip: the extra $5 for the ice wine is totally worth it. We love coming to this winery, especially on Friday nights for live music and wood-fired pizza! The owners are super nice, and all the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting fee is a bit higher than other wineries, but you get a portion of that deducted from any bottle of wine you purchase. I love the setting here. Inside is small with a LOT of charm. You can venture out back to enjoy your wine on the patio, set with wrought iron tables, bubbling waterfall/pond, and gorgeous views....you can even catch a glimpse of wildlife, if you're fortunate enough! There are many trinkets and gifts for sale, along with the wine. The wine bottle prices are very reasonable, and Cody Kresta offers a very nice selection to choose from. One of my favorites is made specifically to help fund the new, local hiking trails of the Portman Nature Preserve...I LOVE that they are giving back and supporting the community! Beautiful outdoor seating in a lovely green setting. The wines are delightful and work for those who like sweeter tastes......but in particular for those of us who enjoy dryer wines. This place is pretty adorable. They have only been open for a year but apparently the proprietor has been making wine for 15+ years. The landscaping is beautiful and welcoming. The tasting room is small-ish and only set up to help a handful of people at a time. You pay $5 for a taste of 6-7 wines, and the fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. The employees are very pleasant and helpful and the there will probably be about 16 wines from which to choose when you go. It is hard for me to comment on the quality of the wine because I am not very knowledgeable about the stuff, but I had several which I enjoyed and you will most likely want to buy a bottle. I am giving this place 5 stars because you have to consider that this is a local Southwest Michigan winery. If you have realistic expectations then this is probably the best wine tasting experience available in the area. Enjoyable wine, fair pricing, pleasant employees, and a beautiful setting. Went here in the dead of winter a couple of weeks ago and my friend and I were the only patrons there. They have a good selection of wines to try and the lady who helped us that day was extremely friendly and personable! While I wasn't a big fan of their reds, I did like their blueberry wine (made from MI berries) which was quite dry (I liked that!) and unlike any other berry wines (which normally taste like juice to me). Their ice wine was one of my favorites! It had a delicious burnt honey after note. Overall, I think their chardonnay was the best of what I tried. I'll definitely come back and visit during the summer/fall time as their property looks cute even when its buried in the snow! read more
