Vegetarian Pizza

GREAT Italian food option in downtown Killarney! The inside was beautifully designed and menu had a vast variety of options for food. The service overall was a bit spotty as (2) different girls services out table but food and drinks were turned around quickly. Our group got the bruschetta to start followed by the margherita and vegetarian pizza as well as a pasta dish for mains. We loved every bite and the food had good flavor to it. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for after a long day!

Fish and chips

Nice meal after a long day hiking in Killarney National Park. Portions are huge, a little expensive, but you definitely get your moneys worth. I had the fish and chips, and had two large filets on a bed of fries, plus salad and coleslaw. The service was quite quick too!

Food was decent. Nothing phenomenal but a solid choice. Service was quick. Feels very fast paced vibe with an electro swing playlist for music. Clean friendly atmosphere. Not my top choice but I'd go back.

Seafood chowder

We almost passed this one by because of the ratings but, boy, am I glad we took the chance! We tried the caprese, fried Brie and seafood chowder starters and all 3 were fabulous! I had several seafood chowders on my way around the island that were very fishy tasting but this one was exceptional! We ordered the pizza and it was very good. Our pasta campognola was out of this world-fresh pasta every day and you could taste it. Very happy with our choice to stop in to this jewel!

Carbonara. Damn amazing.

Eat here. I've been in Ireland for a week, and this is the best place I've eaten at so far. Ladies, gentlemen, and gays, this is the place to eat. Idk who did the hiring process, but all of the staff is so damn attractive. Slightly, biased, but the men were gorgeous. One of the chefs facing toward the customers, with salt and pepper hair, was ZADDY AF. As having lived in Italy for a bit, I can vouch that the carbonara is on point. Fresh pasta, cooked perfectly al dente. It was so good, I forgot how hot the staff were when they followed up to check on how we liked the food. The lamb shank doesn't need any prior experience with food to know that it is amazing. Tender AF and not gamey at all. I didn't get a chance to try the Guinness stew because my parents demolished it (we shared the three plates to get to try a little of everything). So, I'm going to say it was good. The dessert was good. I only had a bite, but my parents loved it. Definitely going back again before we leave the area!

Free night from the tour, authentic Pub was my first choice. The Mrs Seafood was on the top of her list. We browsed Main and High Streets. Salvador seemed to perk her interest the most. Greeted, walked to a row of occupied tables along the wall and we were shown the first vacancy (Hmm #1). The menu primarily featured an Italian fare; if I were in Rome, yes, not in Ireland (Hmm #2). So, by this time a seafood plate seemed a likely choice, too. After all, Scottish and Irish Salmon are touted as some of the best. But, first were drinks and a bread basket. Me a local Killarney Red IPA and the Mrs a white wine, which is usually a Riesling, but only sold by the bottle. Bland glass of house white was selected (Hmm #3). The bread was a fresh, sliced Italian and thin, pre-packaged bread stick (Hmm #4). We order, in the poorly light dining room, Hake & Shrimp for Mrs and Salmon for me. Sadly though I pointed to the wrong item. When serviced I received half of a chicken on a cutting board, which caused some confusion and no offer to provided what I had intended. After all, it was essentially my error. On the flip side, any establishment looking to maintain a reasonable reputation would put some effort forth to please the customer (Hmm #5). The Hake and (small thawed) Shrimp were good. The chicken dry (Hmm #6) and the marinated tomatoes and side of carrots, potatoes and spinach provided a moisture balancing effect. No dessert or coffee, just the check PLEASE.

Great restaurant, great food, and the great local flavor beer, however the service was very lousy, no one came to check after the food had been served. We are Americans in always appreciate services and in return you get a generous tip however this is not going to happen I regret to say.

Real candles on the table, good pizza, excellent pasta and seafood chowder. This was one of the best meals of our Ireland trip!

Tasty pizza; decent service. Interior is dull but clean and servicable. A fine restaurant for a casual meal.

€8.50 for a burger and €3.00 extra for chips at lunch time, they don't tell you chips are extra. What a waste of money.

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

Music starts at 9pm. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had fish and chips, the stuffed chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.

The name "Bricín" is Irish for "little trout" and is also the name of a stone bridge in Killarney National Park. The restaurant was established by the McGuire brothers, who restored the building with antique timber and stained glass. The restaurant is upstairs from a gift shop that I believe the owners also operate. We had made reservations and once upstairs, we were personally greeted and welcomed by maybe one of the brothers. Mary was our wait person for the evening, who we found to be warm, friendly, and attentive. We were also seated at a nice corner table (#14) that allowed the right amount of dining privacy with a very attractive room. Bricín offers a fixed price meal (appetizer, main, and dessert) for 46 Euro and an "Early Bird" special for 34 Euros. We opted to order off the Menu as follows: - Hake and Salmon Gratin (Fern) - Boxty (House Specialty) - Traditional Irish potato pancake, cooked on the griddle with mixed salad and a choice of meat (Don) - Rack of Kerry Lamb (Gayle Loves Lamb!) - Thai Red Chicken Curry with Thai jasmine rice (Eric) - Adult Beverages (Wines) - Spanish Rueda (White), Pinot Grigio, Siegel Reserva (Chilean Merlot), and another Merlot. - Split 2 Desserts (One Special) plus teas and coffee. It was all a wonderful dining experience, when food, atmosphere, service, and good company all become greater than the sum of its parts. And we expressed that sentiment to one of the brothers who checked in on us at one point and Mary.

The upstairs restaurant is decorated with antique furniture and scenic paintings that make it feel like you've stepped into a charming old inn. I tried a boxy for the first time and would describe it to an American as a thin potato pancake with chicken pot pie filling. The scallion and leek tart was noteworthy, but the rack of lamb could have been a bit more tender. The servers were friendly and accommodating, even offering to hang our raincoats and umbrellas in the side nook and fetch them when the service was over.

My mother was also able to try the seafood pie which had large chunks of white fish spread throughout but balanced with a white cream sauce, she liked her dish as well. I tried the homemade lasagna which was good as expected. All of the dishes here are offered at a very fair price and filling for what you get. The place was packed which was a good sign and we quickly ordered our meals as we were starving. The Beef Stew came with three different servings of potatoes and from what I recall it was decent. What made this meal really exceptional was the dessert. Warm banana pie with delicious cold ice cream. Over the span of our 15-day trip in Ireland this was either my favorite dessert or tied as my favorite dessert for the trip. Also, this restaurant is in a very nice shopping area that you can easily walk and shop for hours in after your meal. As always people SYOY!!!

We chose the prawn cocktail to start, roast supreme of chicken, and the 16 ounce t-bone. The prawn cocktail came in a large crystal serving dish with about 10 prawns covered in a Rose Marie sauce on a bed of lettuce. Prawns were well cooked, nice and tender, and sweet. Two slices of brown bread and butter. The chicken was lightly fried and came with a stuffing of thyme and spring onion, gravy and French fries. Chicken was well cooked, flavorful and juicy. The fries were nice and crispy. The t-bone was 16ounces and came with mushrooms, onions, onion rings and fries. The steak was cooked as requested, medium rare. The mushrooms were small button mushrooms with sautéed onions. Part of the steak was nice and tender but there were parts that were tough and grisly and fatty. It was okay but not something I would order again. The onion rings, 3, were heavily breaded, stuck together and were not appetizing to look at and definitely not to eat. The fries were nice and crispy and served very not. This was an okay meal but based on it I'm not sure we'd make a return trip. Seating was probably the most comfortable that we have found recently but the place is very noisy and makes it hard to hold a conversation. Service was mediocre in that once we got our main meal we didn't see a server to come back and check to see home things were. They were extremely busy so this might account for that but I'm not sure. .

We starting with a fish cake, that was quite good and included a tangy sweet sauce and a small salad with it. We got the fish cake as the first course of a two-course special. The main entreé was a Hake fish. It was an incredibly light and flaky white fish, that was served with a side salad and side of mash. There were two filets, however it appears one of the filets was not de-boned, which required some extra work on my part. Though, the flavor was fantastic. The sticky toffee pudding was mostly okay, but there was a burnt bitterness to it that was a touch off-putting. Ultimately, it was still satisfactory. Unfortunately, the service here was quite slow. It was difficult to get a waiter's attention for a dessert menu, and I was unable to flag down a waiter to put in my dessert order. After a few failed attempts I went up to the bar to do so. ...And to get the card machine to pay. Also, it really speaks to if you're in a touristy section of town when there's a notice about gratutites not being included. And it was only the 2nd time in my two weeks here that I was asked if I'd like to add a tip. I realize the tone of this review is rather negative because of the bad service on the night, but the food itself was rather good, despite being pricey for the portion provided. The quality of the fish alone is holding onto that fourth star by a thread. Would've been an easy five if the service was up to snuff though.
