I've had fish and chips around the UK for much cheaper, but at a slightly higher price point you get a perfectly crispy piece of fish with double-fried chips. It's really more about the experience of being in a posh fish shop. But I was bummed that the ketchup and mayo was in little Heinz packets instead of bottles. This is so unnecessarily wasteful and also kind of a pain to constantly be opening and squeezing them. Mine tasted pretty good and seemed to be up to the standards of any other chip shop. My flatmates agreed claiming that the fish and chips were decent but nothing to write home about. Tony's Fish Bar is an inviting chip shop with good service. Although perhaps not worth going out of your way for, it's definitely worthy of your custom if you're feeling peckish on the long walk up Ratcliffe Terrace!

The chips are great, and very good value at £1.50 for a regular portion. Most places charge £2, so this sets Franco's apart for me. Of course, the place also serves burgers, fish, sausages etc. All the things you expect from a chip shop. And the quality is good.
