The sauce was fine but without any defining taste - either spicy or sweet. Toppings were fine. The crust was tasteless - neither good nor bad, just kind of there. It got the job done as I was heading into Nebraska and needed something to tide me over on a very long drive and, in that respect, it worked just fine. While I was waiting for take out, I can say the interior was nicely decorated and the staff was super nice. It's a franchise, and the food is decent. I got the lobster and seafood Bianco ($20) while my friend ordered the shrimp Alfredo ($21). They come with sides of Caesar, or broccoli, and a slice of garlic bread. Th inside is spacious, with red brick walls, and tv monitors. Service is fast and professional. Having spent seven years in New York and the last decade in Los Angeles, I've eaten at more pizza and Italian restaurants than I can count. I generally try to judge a restaurant not only by its food, but by the overall experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short. We arrived with a larger group, and from the moment we walked in, it felt as though our presence was more of an inconvenience than an opportunity to welcome guests. Large parties can certainly require extra effort, but hospitality is often what separates an average restaurant from a memorable one. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling like we had disrupted the staff's day. As for the food, it was okay. Nothing was bad, but nothing particularly stood out either. It was serviceable and met expectations, but it wasn't memorable enough to outweigh the disappointing customer service experience. I'm sharing this review because I genuinely hope ownership takes it as constructive feedback. We stumbled upon Sam & Louie's by pure luck! Located in the charming downtown of Sterling, across the street from the beautiful County Courthouse. Everything about the evening was perfect! We shared a Margherita pizza with added pepperoni and two side salads. The crust is homemade and hand tossed. We sat in the bar with our service dog. Mo looked after us and told us about the town and area. Mo brought a bottle of honey and suggested we pour it over the pizza crust. It tasted like a sopaipilla! A delicious dessert! Worst Italian food I've ever had. I'm 68 and have eaten Italian food all over Colorado as well as many times in Utica, NY. This was by far the worst ever. I ordered a Pepperoni and Sausage Calzone with green peppers and onion. The bread had no flavor and neither did the pepperoni or sausage. The tiny amount of sauce was also largely flavorless. The inside was mostly a flavorless Ricotta and Mozzarella cheese blend so it was like a blob of cheese in a nearly empty crust, with chunks of green peppers that were still raw. Everything about the Calzone was terrible! I also ordered 'boneless chicken wings', basically chicken nuggets. Like so many places now days that serve fried food the nuggets were extra breading with hardly any chicken, like chewing rocks. Overall I wasted almost $40 for a Calzone I threw away and 'wings' I'm not sure I can get through. read more

It would NOT except the discount code " tuesday " ( Tried a couple months ago, same thing and I told them about it ) So I ordered on the phone. The special is $15.00 x 2 + $30. ( with tax $32.10 ) The man on the phone said it comes to $34.40 So I ask to see what he is charging me for 1 pizza. He says $13.20. so I say it says $15.00, but ok. So I tell him $13.20 x 2 + $26.40 + Tax $28.25. As I try to explain this to him, he says it is correct and its $34.40 Again I ask what is 1 pizza and he say $13.20 so then I say what is 13.20 and 13.20 2 Pizzas He says $34.20 and he is correct. Found this place on Apple Maps traveling East from Keystone. On first impression, it's a neat little town just off I-76. The environment at this place is amazing also. Great service brought out a huge pizza and 3 other meals in around 15 minutes. Our whole party agreed that the food was phenomenal. I just love this Italian style brick layered pizzeria. You will find fabulous street side parking right downtown on Main Street. As I approached the restaurant I noticed multiple customers enjoying the outdoor seating area which is slightly set back behind a black fence and a brick archway that holds USA and runs along the side walk. The open concept, rustic style was alluring and I couldn't wait to look around. Yep, I spotted the gorgeous bar and dining area on the bar side. The main dining area featured hightop tables and some booths. I just love theses large tables for dining. I ordered the pretzel bites for an appetizers, the lasagna and a side salad with butter garlic bread. The pretzels bites were melt in your mouth amazing and the cheeses sauce was just as tasty. The lasagna was so fresh and the pasta cooked perfect. Stacked with a flattering sauce and melting cheese with plentiful herbs and a garlic blast! A delightful italian dish for sure. The food temperature was perfect, just enough to eat your meal comfortably. The wait staff was pleasant but not so much engaging. Great place for gatherings or just my yourself. We ate at Sam and Louie's for a wedding reception, and had a private room. While there were a few miscues around the food and drinks, overall, I loved the atmosphere, which had a more upscale look for the area. Plenty of TVs for games, and the private room was also nice for gatherings, with a massive 70+ inch tv and large barn doors for privacy. The food was honestly incredible- I got to try their lasagna, and the tortellini, which came with sausage and chunks of chicken. I topped mine with their special seasoning, which I highly recommend, and I would buy some next time! The food was honesty way better than I was expecting, and some of the best Italian I've had in a long time. As far as the service - we did ask for buckets of beers and margarita pitchers, and they didn't deliver on that. They took the drink orders 1x at a time, which took forever, and the groom didn't even get his Margarita. They brought out all the food too early, and it got cold, and they also requested desert brought out last, and it was also brought out with everything. I've found myself in Sterling on a number of occasions and when it comes to the available restaurants in this town, Sam & Louie's has felt like the most enjoyable and reliable. Other than Mexican and Chinese (if you're in the mood for that, both options are good enough in town), Sterling mostly offers American/Italian food options or fast food options. Sam & Louie's is the best of those options. I've mostly gone there for the pizza. As a vegetarian, they have a wide variety of topping options that I enjoy. If I find myself on a long drive and end up in Sterling along the way, I may get an 18" pizza so that I have plenty for the drive. I've also sat in at Sam & Louie's. The staff is always kind and helpful. The seating arrangement gives the nice feel of a community environment where everyone from individuals to families are out and maybe watching a game on one of the TVs. It feels like a pizza place out of a family TV show. I've also enjoyed their patio area. On a nice day, that's also a good spot and a way to see this nice little stretch of Main Street in the town. The price point is a bit high for pizza but, I've experienced other comparable restaurants in Sterling, and I'd say it's at the same price point for simply a better quality experience. The atmosphere was quiet and the decoration was beautiful to admire. But that's where it ended as far as enjoyable experiences go. The waitress was snoody and played the ghost card the whole time. We ended up waiting for an hour just for our food and there was only two sets of people there. The other party of people had their food when we sat down. I was a little concerned given the lower ratings for this place. Thankfully, our experience was top-notch. There was only one small delay and that was between being sat and when our waitress first came to get our drink order. After that, Jennifer S. was efficient and attentive. Our glasses never ran dry and she didn't look at me oddly when I asked for honey to go with my pizza. For real, honey on your pizza crusts. Try it. Anyway, the food was hot and fresh. The crust was a little overdone, but I prefer it that way. Overall, great experience. If I lived here, I'd become a regular. Was in Sterling for a couple of days and went to Sam & Louie's two nights in a row. The first night was so good. Great Server and awesome atmosphere in the bar area. Food was delicious and it was a great experience. I liked it so much I would have given the place a 5 star review and I decided to go the next night. My second visit was hard to believe it was the same place. The Server was a dud. I was seated at a booth in front of a broken tv. The food was burned and the entire experience was a blah. We were in town for the night and ordered carry out. It was Saturday and the place was packed-- a good sign. We ordered two pasta dishes with meatballs ($3 extra each and we were charged) with side soup and salad. When we got back to the hotel, our meals were missing the meatballs and we were not given any plastic ware. Fortunately, we got some plastic ware from the hotel front desk. The pasta was good and so was the garlic bread. The soup was not to our taste, but others would probably like it. The salad was fresh and served with hard boiled egg slices. read more

Stay far away from this place! Went there and the entire staff was drunk. A bunch of them were sitting at a table, drinking and talking, while customers like me were waiting to be waited on. There was a girl there that we nicknamed Eeyore because she looked and sounded depressed when dealing with us. She was completely rude. Saw us and really couldn't be bothered. I didn't want to make it a race thing(I'm brown), but after overhearing staff talk about how the Mexicans need to be run out of town, I'm pretty sure it was a race thing. 100% unprofessional setting. As for the food, I bit into my meal and it was frozen, not to mention bland as hell. Completely disgusting. And only 2 small meatballs for a plate of spaghetti? Get real. With this staff and food, I honestly can't figure out how this place is still open. But trust me, DO NOT GO HERE! I couldn't wait to get out of there and I will never go back.
