Our family just moved to Oregon and someone had mentioned this place and said we wouldn't be disappointed so I reserved a few spots. It started with my husband and I and our 4 year old but quickly grew to all of the children in our family ranging from 28 to 1.5. Nobody really knew what to expect but EVERYONE loved it and had a great time. We were all able to just have good clean fun and enjoy the beautiful location because the excellent staff did all of the heavy lifting as far as activities and energy. We are going to make it a family tradition we enjoyed it so much!!! Thank you YMCA Camp Collins!!

I went last year as a camper and it was not fun. my counselors were gone almost every day and the…read moreother counselors had to sub in and take care of us. one of the counselors (I had 2 in my cabin) was super uptight and rude towards all the girls in my cabin. for example she yelled at my friend for leaving her bunk light on on accident. she was very unsupportive and the counselors seemed to care more about hanging out with each other than taking care of us. I didn't feel comfortable and happy in my cabin and was actually waiting to go home at the end. it says on the website that you can see your friends from other cabins and sit with them at mealtime, but I was barely allowed to go talk to them real quick then come back to my table. you can see them if you somehow tell them to come to the same daily activity as you. but the worst part was one rainy day we were playing bingo inside and I guess my counselors got bored because they were telling me a bunch of different times that certain squares had been called, so that I would get a failed bingo. I stood up and said bingo and obviously it wasn't valid so I just got humiliated while they sat there giggling. it was unnecessary and cruel and I definitely don't recommend this camp to anyone.

Rock Haven Climbing - Solving problems

Rock Haven is a fantastic space for kids to rock climb. (It's bouldering only; no ropes work /…read morebelaying.) It's very clean and organized, with huge, immaculate bathrooms. This wins me over every time as some of you may know. :) There are a number of walls of varying difficulties, rental climbing shoes in good condition, nice, laid-back staff.... and... some nice looking beers on tap for grown ups to relax with after a climb, while the kiddos wind down at the ping pong table or with crafts, games and books. Great place to spend a rainy afternoon. I'd be so stoked if we had this business in NYC.

I can honestly tell you my finger strength to weight ratio is not right for rock climbing, but it really does make you want to come back and keep trying again and probably put down the extra burger!! They have a $22 fee for two weeks pass as of jan 2023... you can sign up for as little as one month with no sign-up fees, and nothing about that!!! You just need to give two weeks notice to cancel so basically the minimum you can pay is $44 for a month! I'd say it's well worth it if you didn't have to pay for the damn kids to come with you! They have a small weightlifting session and yoga classes very easily. You could make this a gym if your main intention was to be healthy and have fun. Come and give it a shot. Need more unique business is like this opening up in our area.

If you're a parent and care about your child's safety, I wouldn't recommend enrolling at this gym!…read moreI'm writing this review not just as a parent who pays $150 per month for my membership with childcare, but also as a school director myself ,and a mandated Oregon State child safety reporter. Before posting this review, I have tried contacting the owner several times about child safety -- with no response. Here are a couple of child safety issues I have observed: -- Instance #1: About two months ago on a week night, a one and a half year old ran out from the kids center. And due to short staffing, it wasn't noticed by staff members. Luckily, I stopped the child from running out to the gym floor. When I brought this to the director's attention, (Cindy), she said that it never happened because the cameras didn't see it happen. Scoffing and rolling her eyes. She then got back on her tablet, and ignored me. --Instance #2: The child care was short staffed. When this happens, they put the older kids with the infants/toddlers. On a few of those instances, other parents and I, have seen the older kids hurt the smaller children (violently at times). After witnessing this, I tried to find the Director and she was no where to be found. She was on "Break". -- Instance #3: Last night (4/7/26) at roughly 5:15 pm. There was one staff member to probably 20 kids. I tried to talk to the director. Once again, she rudely rolled her eyes at me. Then her and the front desk girl started laughing and mocking me. And said within earshot, "What's her f**** problem". Hopefully after posting this review the, child safety issues are addressed. And the employee culture as well. ***Review update: The owner finally contacted me, and he said all the right things. I will update the review further if changes regarding the safety issues and toxic employee culture are truly addressed. ***

We left our…read moreneighborhood school mid-year because our son was being bullied and despite numerous conversations with his teacher, the counselor, and the principal little to nothing was done. When I picked our son up from his shadow day at FMES, he said it was the best day of his life. Within a week he was more joyful than he'd ever been at our neighborhood school. Three years later, he has some of the sweetest friends and is the happiest I've ever seen him. This past weekend (end of spring break) he said he was missing school because he is really enjoying math. Our younger son has ADHD and is also thriving. The options and flexibility really work well for him. FMES feels different from the moment you walk through the door. It's a very warm and welcoming community. Having taught special education in public schools for twelves years it was tough for us to make the decision to switch but we could not be happier. The love and care our children receive at FMES protects their innocence and joy, giving them a wonderful childhood.

I'm not a fan of all Montessori pedagogy, but they have such a wonderful blend of taking the best parts, and being flexible where it's not working. The leadership was incredibly thoughtful, patient, and communicative in dealing with the pandemic. I felt respected, heard, and most importantly, that our kid's safety AND education were being put at the forefront. Lastly, the environment is open to all sorts of people. The religious components are opt-in. We were literally in tears of joy after the tour, feeling that we had found a match for our family. Four years later, we couldn't be happier, and now have FOUR kids enrolled. That shows how happy we are!
