Part 1 of 2 Parts; On Thursday, November 17, 2022, I…read morecontacted Ms. Mashelle Winters, job coach at Worksource Tigard Office #268 and have not received a response regarding the following. I must post my Complaint to Yelp because there are no managing officers listed on the Worksource Oregon website. On 11/17/2022 I emailed Ms. Winters regarding the following disappointments with the services at the Worksource Tigard field office #287, 11950 SW Garden Pl. Suite 100, Tigard, OR 97223: Dear Mashelle Winters, Tigard, Business and employment specialist, State of Oregon: 1.Thanks also for claiming to be a Career Counselor while what you do is explain the navigation of WORKSOURCE two complex websites and procedures while shaving off 10 minutes from all the sessions except for October 2022. Not appreciated. 1A. Thank you for calling me during the job networking session October 14 at 10:30 AM which was the session that you yourself scheduled for me and forgot that I was scheduled to be in session while you called me. 1B. Thanks for telling me you did not know the answer to my question about SNAP to STEP program income limits to stay in the program while studying and following the STEP program. On one or more more occasions, you told me that you did not know about the benefits and income limits (of your employer, WORKSOURCE) and directed me to call DHS instead of finding out for yourself. I did follow through and it took me a month of my time in September 2022 to get the answer. The DHS manager who finally called me back, also told me it was a very complicated system and he was not very clear on it either. He failed to o follow up with the requested documents that I needed, as the SNAP TO STEP website has NO details and suggests that the Customer call the office for information. 1C: Thank you for canceling my in person visit last Monday and claiming that you needed to cancel it because you were assigned to work at home instead. However, you have not scheduled me for zoom or in person appointment despite my repeated requests. Reader: please note that next week has only three days of work because it is the Thanksgiving holiday week. This makes it much harder for me to keep in the SNAP to STEP program by having my monthly interview only during the last week, if at all possible. 2. Thanks for not giving me the monthly SHELL card, as previously offered by Worksource. Not appreciated. 4. Thank you Eman Abbas (I switched from Eman Abbas to Mashelle Winter after the fiasco, as described in the points below) for telling me there are very few positions in Technical Writing, that they are hard to get and that they do not pay well. All this was said to me during my initial online meeting in 2022, and while you had a shadow employee on the line for training (who is also an immigrant of your same culture and language). Thanks for mis-spelling your educated advice into the online form that you used. Very Sincerely Yours, Gabrielle J Strassmann

The mission behind Dress for Success is definitely something I can get behind. Its not just about…read moreproviding clothing. Its about giving women support, the knowledge, tools, and yes clothes, so they have a better chance of landing a job and providing for themselves and their family. Women earn the right to select accessories or special clothing based on how many interviews they went on, completing learnings, etc. This ensures that both sides are committed, the ladies seeking help and those working at Dress for Success. Yes, the hours are limited for accepting donations, and if you are like me and went through the emotional release of your clothes, you want to drop it off immediately! But sorting the clothes takes time and as I mentioned above, the majority of their time is spent meeting the women in need of their service, teaching interview skills, helping with resumes, showing ladies where to find job postings, helping the ladies select interview outfits, discussing childcare options, etc. My biggest "ah ha" moment came when I dropped off yet another motherlode of dress slacks, tailored jackets, dresses and formal business attire. I mentioned to the women receiving the clothes how my next stop was Goodwill to donate my more casual slacks and sweaters. She said, no! Bring them here. That is exactly what most of these women need. The majority are not seeking high level office jobs. And in Portland, even those in professional business jobs dress casual. Casual Friday is everyday! If a woman is seeking a job in retail, at a grocery store, for example, she needs nice slacks and a top, maybe a scarf and a handbag. Not a designer suit! Now I bring all my clothes that are in good shape to Dress for Success. I give them my fomr business attire, which I no longer wear, AND nice khakis, jeans and dress slacks. Plus sweaters, cotton tops, blouses, jackets, scarves, handbags, shoes and costume jewelry. Basicsic clothing and accessories to build a wardrobe upon. Dress for a Success is definitely worth supporting. It is about women giving other women a hand up.

They helped me quickly land the job of my dreams and they found some unique and awesome jobs for me at that. Chelsea brought me on board and has been wonderful to communicate with since. Choose Emerald, you won't be disappointed.

I think Nick meant well, but even times when I would call my messages would go unanswered. I didn't feel like I matter and getting a job is about people's livelihood. Anytime there was a possible job situation, I'd never get a follow up return call or the timing was off. So I felt disappointed time and time again with my experience with Emerald Staffing. I'm glad that the first job I found through indeed ended up promoting me to full time. Because I never heard back from Emerald Staffing at all, even when I needed career advice. Don't use them. They'll waste your time and they're a lousy resource.
