Pulling up in the modest parking lot, you see glimpses of old rat rods in the garage next door. In the small shop (two chairs for the two guys), there's a classic small town feel about the place, the walls are lined with years of memories, including things like a full snake skin, some prop gas pumps, and a classic register. Reading materials consist of old jegs catalogs, again car guys! At just $12 a cut, it was one of the more reasonably priced barber visits as well. Located in the historic African American neighborhood, King Lincoln District, this studio was built and designed by the owner/barber. You can tell he put a lot of pride, thought, money and effort in to it. There are big comfortable chairs, big screen TVs, snacks and products for sale. Beside the owner there are two other barbers, one of which is also a stylist. It's always a good sign when other barbers come here for a haircut. The owner has creds. Been in business over 25 years, has a long list of long time clients that have followed him from other shops. This would not be a "pop-up". You know, here today, gone tomorrow. Business is good. The studio is closed on Wednesday and Sundays. You can walk-in on the other days, but just know Thursday and Friday are the busiest days and you may find yourself waiting longer than you want. If that is the case, the "man talk" is great. Topics like politics, cooking, sports, TV shows, vacations, etc. Nothing off limits. Its hard not to join in. I generally do a high fade and leave the top with some length. I'm never really sure what I want with the top and have always given my barber/stylist free-ish reign with just some suggestions about length. Dontae was able to pick up from my vague description what I wanted and executed it flawlessly. As for the fade, it is always spot on. The lines are always super clean and the blend is perfect. I'm always super grateful coming out of here cause I feel like they get the cut/look I want much better than I could ever describe it. As for the space itself, its very clean and they definitely followed COVID guidelines which makes me feel like they care about their and your health. It is a little small but they space out the barber seats and have people make appointments and wait outside until they're ready to cut.

Then she talked about what she thought would work, which was a brief departure from my normal, boring old-man haircut. Fast forward thirty minutes and it was the best haircut I've had in years.
