I consider working with Mike Dannenberg as one of the worst financial decisions I have ever made…read more Although I did not need it, he recommended I get a bridge loan without explaining the cost, complexity or terms. Once I was stuck with that bridge loan and closing on my new house, I discovered that it cost well over $45k and had lots of administrative complexity and additional costs of refinancing. I was stuck. When I complained to Mike, although I had witnesses to conversations he claims he remembers all our conversations correctly and I do not. He has not been a trustworthy counselor and he definitely made a lot of assumptions about what was financially good for me. He also told me a bridge loan would be good because interest rates were set to go down. This was when they were at a historic low of 3.8%. After the bridge loan closed, he didn't follow up to help me through the very complex and costly next steps. I had to reach out to him and everything was poorly explained. I got a much better rate in the end and better counsel through First Republic Bank. Now, I'm well over $45k poorer and have a loan .5% higher because I took his advice. He continually tries to tell me how wonderful a thing it all was and claims he remembers things correctly and I do not.
