Quirky stuff plus yummy desserts are right up my alley. I first got to taste Samanco's fish shaped ice cream sandwich back in college where we had this Korean food stall I frequent in the cafeteria which is owned by a Korean man. My 2 Korean friends were the ones who told me about it and they told me how good it was and how fun it was to eat because it wasn't your typical ice cream scoop or popsicle. It's this ice cream sandwich that has a thin outer layer of waffle that's shaped like a gold fish! It's so quirky and cute! Kids would love these. It's pretty big too so it's a filling dessert. Inside is vanilla ice cream with either sweet red bean paste (I thought there was only one flavor!) or strawberry jam (there could be more flavors..I'm not sure). I love the red bean paste! It's definitely a unique pairing with ice cream but it works well together with the vanilla flavor. I love the red bean Samanco BUT when we were at SM Tarlac, my older sister bought Samanco from the grocery section and they had strawberry so she bought 2 packs (They come in packs too!) of 4 ice cream sandwiches. The strawberry flavor is now my go-to since strawberries are one of my favorite fruits. You can buy these cute and yummy treats at SM groceries (not sure if all branches have them), Kaya (probably the most accessible and sure place you can find it in), Man Sun, Wang Mart and probably any Korean grocery or convenience store you come across. read more
