My Wife gave birth a couple days ago and most of the staff was friendly besides her bedside nurse which was not helping a stressful situation at all and if anything her authoritive tone was nothing but rude, that's not why I'm giving the review. I am angry that they practically left my daughter in the dust with her records: They never put me as the father number one which I was the the entire time and never filled out the information, or even put me as a contact information (which means I can't even take MY daughter to her doctor appointments or hell maybe even the ER), they also never updated her name so her name on her records was just going to be "girl (mothers name)", they also never told us we needed to get her, her own insurance so luckily we did our own research or we would have had to pay for her expenses even though they said it would go off of the mothers insurance (apparently not true). If i had to sum up Albany general hospital in what word: Negligent. read more

My partner was mistreated by a night shift emergency room physician named Blaine Rourke. My boyfriend woke up at 2am having a seizure and has never had one before. He fell over hit his head, was unconscious and rushed to the Emergency Room. He gained consciousness in the ER and they wouldn't let me back because they were questioning him. My partner said he was scared and in hysterics waking up in the hospital and having Blaine immediately telling him he was on something. The nurse there was soothing my partner and telling him he's okay and just had a seizure. When I was finally aloud back to my partners bed, I myself heard Blaine Rourke accusing my bf of doing drugs because "seizures don't just happen for no reason". Mr. Rourke then yelled at the nurse because she had a hard time scanning the patient bracelet to take my partners vitals. After testing was done and no drugs were detected, physician Rourke started being kinder to my bf and told him he doesn't know the cause of the seizure. They then sent him home with no answers to what happened and why. Paper work states he came in for OD and suspected drug use when he was brought in because he woke up and had a seizure. Paperwork also says no drugs detected and that they are unsure of the cause. They are so mean for accusing someone of that as soon as they wake up from being unconscious. How unprofessional for that physician treat my partner like that when he woke up scared and was crying asking where I was. And then yell at a nurse as well? Why is he acting like that. He seems miserable with his job and clearly treats people poorly if he personally THINKS they're on drugs. read more

Staff has been nothing but helpful. Had to speak to many different nurses and a few doctors being admitted from the ER to the hospital for a few days and not one was rude. They were all sweet and caring. I came in with a virus more severe than i thought and the entire time the team was attentive, caring, and listened to all my concerns and needs. read more

I have never had luck going to Albany General Hospital several years ago I went in twice by ambulance to the emergency room. I was having severe back pain, I could not get out of my chair the first time the second time I could not get out of bed because of the pain. Well, I don't know who the doctor was back then was a piece of garbage. He kept saying "there's no need take me pictures there's nothing wrong with you". Then said "here's a prescription for pain pills". I did not need a prescription for meds I had some already. As it turned out I had an infection in my spine and I tell you it was the worst kind of pain that I've ever experienced. Last Thursday which was February 2, I went in to get some blood work done prior to my surgery on Friday at Corvallis hospital. I was walking down the aisle to go to where I need to be, there was a woman standing in the middle of the aisle talking to another person with her two kids with her she had a boy approximately age 7 he had his mask underneath his chin coughing his lungs out. He also didn't even bother to cover his mouth when he coughed. The woman did nothing didn't even look at her child well I mentioned it to the girls doing my blood and then the woman walked in with the two children walking in to the lab area still coughing and still a mask under his chin and I pointed it out to the girls but it seemed nothing was going to. I had my surgery the next morning and I have been sick since Saturday, fever and all. I'm sure nothing can be done but maybe people can be more attentive. Dianne Nelson read more

I took my daughter to the er at Samaritan hospital in Albany yesterday. She went to urgent care first but they told her to go to the er. the dr from urgent care called over to the er and told them her condition so she would be seen sooner. She had recently had surgery and was bleeding possibly hemorrhaging. We arrived there at 5:30 in the afternoon. We finally left at 12:30 am without being seen. My daughter had soaked thru 4 super pads while we were waiting. The staff was horrible and couldn't have cared less. When we left my daughter said to the receptionist " I'm just going to go home and bleed to death". The receptionist said and I quote "SOUNDS GOOD". My husband tried to call when we got home but they hung up on him 3 times. he wasn't yelling at them only asked to speak to a supervisor. read more

I was having trouble breathing and my inhaler wasn't working, they gave me a "spacer" attachment, told me it was an infection and sent me on my way. later the same day I was panicking about my breathing and decided to try corvallis er. They were very helpful and considerate, gave me a breath treatment twice, a chest x-ray and a prescription. They were very helpful and thorough. Good Samaritan Hospital in Albany is very incompetent. They misread my test on a CAT Scan, and said I had blood on my brain which was wrong , they sent me to Corvallis, and Corvallis told me they read the test wrong. They sent me home from the hospital another time and I had serious Conditions in which took me to the ICU . This caused me to have an ambulance bill which could have been avoided if they had not released me back home. This hospital needs serious training in the ER department. read more

Went to ER because I was told by another doctor at Urgent care I had a stroke. Waited in ER for 4 hours, and left. Next day I went earlier and still waited in ER for 4 hours. Finally was called back and told I had a stroke. They did MRI and it showed I didn't have a stroke . They did blood tests everything came back fine. Sadly they never listened to me. I kept telling them I was bit by a tick but they didn't listen. They did not screen the blood for Lyme disease. I was there for 8 hours and they sent me home with no medications. The staff was great, personable, and friendly but they just didn't listen to me. So I give a 3 star rating. this means I have to find help elsewhere. read more

Excellent! In case this is as far as a reader gets. I was a patient at the surgical center at Albany General hospital for a full hip replacement. Dr. James Ryan was my surgeon, took me some time and research to find but well worth it! Five stars for him and everyone of his staff. From the receptionist that checked me into all the friendly competent nursing staff, as well as the PT & OT professionals, a huge thank you, all professional but also personable. Also a shout out to the supporting cast, those who took my meal orders and delivered as well as the gentlemen that cleaned my room. Thank you to all of them! read more

My daughter went there in severe pain due to history of ovarian cysts that rupture causing internal bleeding and severe pain. She was having chest pain and felt like she would faint. After four hours of non care. She called me crying telling me no one had come to the room that she'd been waiting. She said she felt like she may pass out and asked if her sister should take her to a different hospital. She's had emergency surgeries in the past: I told her not to leave or panic and I'd call to talk to someone. I called and talked to a woman named Paige. I explained everything to her very calmly and expressed my understanding of how busy ERs can be. I told her I just wanted to give her my daughters history of health so she'd be aware it could be emergent. As I was explaining she cut me off and said ' I see they've ordered imaging' and I said oh great , I don't want her to leave but she needs some communication and Paige very Rudely said' were no a prison she can leave if she wants. I was shocked at the lack of empathy and total disregard of my concern and to even compare a hospital to a prison seemed completely out of line. I was very upset and let Paige know that her comment was rude and obviously I know the hospital isn't a prison. I then called my daughter and advised her to go to a different hospital. She went to Santiam hospital were she was diagnosed with two ruptured cysts and nutcracker syndrome. Both which she will need surgery. Terrible service and care at Albany Hospital. Never again! One star as I can't do 0. Took my wife in for a popped out and dislocated knee injury. Been here an hour hoping they would do a xray soon. Went to check after an hor6 and the triage guy hasn't even checked her in yet. There was a good 30 min with no people coming in in which he had time to check her in. This is why the wait is always so long. We were literally 1 of 2 people in the waiting room when we got here and now there are about 10 folks. Come on. I would not recommend Good Samaritan or the Samaritan Health Service's DR's. I took my Mother to the Albany ER because she was having a hard time breathing, they gave her a CT scan and told her it was her lucky day, the Dr said she should go buy a lottery ticket because she didn't have any of the bad news stuff, he said she had phenomena. She told him that she didn't think that was what it was, she really thought something more serious was wrong, she tried to explain all of her symptoms and the Dr just blew her off. They gave her a large dose of steroids and some antibiotics and sent her home. 4 days later when the steroids wore off she was much worse so my Dad took her back to the ER, this time they barely gave her the time of day. They gave her more antibiotics and sent her home again. 2 days later she said she could feel her body slipping away she said she was dying. So we took her the Corvallis ER and they admitted her to the ICU almost immediately, she died a few painful days later of pulmonary fibrosis. Her lungs were black, how could Albany have missed that . She hadn't felt well in 3 years, we all thought it was because of her arthritis, the Corvallis ER discovered an X-ray in her file showing fibrosis 3 years ago and everyone in Albany missed it including her Samaritan Health Service GP who she had been seeing on a regular basis for years. So here she was at the end stage of a horrible disease and they still can't figure it out. Even if it had just been pneumonia she was too sick to have been sent home. If I lived in the area I would take the time to drive to Portland for my healthcare. The facilities and the providers I have experienced in both Albany and Corvallis have been extremely poor read more

Waited well over TWO HOURS to be seen by the Emergency Room with an open wound at least an inch deep and a fractured wrist. They covered the wound with gauze and told him to wait for ER staff. Don't ever come to this hospital for any of your emergency needs. I'd rather drive anywhere but here for an actual emergency. Complete neglect of patient care. read more

I have taken my children here multiple times. Each time I have waited less than an hour and they were treated quickly and with a smile. The nurses were amazing and were so great with my kids! This is why I drive from Salem to get emergency care. Dr McUne is great with my daughter who does not like anyone. Dr. Braun is quick, efficient, and does not sugarcoat, which I appreciate. Dr. Nowlis was great when I had to bring my father who had an acute problem and could not get anyone in Salem to help him. And Dr. Maurer was so comforting with my son when he burned his arm. read more

We had a wonderful experience the last time we were at the ER. The doctors and staff were very helpful, and answered all of our questions.

This happened a couple years ago but I figured I'd say something don't bring your loved ones to this hospital they don't care about your well being my grandmother went to the Corvallis hospital because she was seeing things and delusional said Albany would be better suited for her so she went here when she arrived they saw she was a drinker and had MS wrote her off saying it was Alzheimer's turned out her intestines were failing they did surgery on her watched her for a while then sent her home a day after she got back the bugs on the walls were back so back we went my mom begged them to do labs and blood work as my grandfather had died of Covid complications a month prior and she was worried her mother was next they said they had turns out they hadn't my mother gets a call from the doctor saying they finally did labs and the stitching from the surgery had opened and she had gone septic a day or two later me and my 3 brothers were standing over my grandmother as she was in a coma we left and they pulled the plug if they had caught it sooner and not lied and done there jobs maybe she'd still be here read more

Came in at 12 me and one other person at the time,he was waiting on his wife. I came in as my arm shoulder hands were in pain numb pins and needles..this was from an mva in 2019..thanks COVID and COVID life..I just dealt with the pain. It became worse than it's ever been and I had not slept in 24hrs. I came in asked for a cortisone shot or cut my arm off as I was in tears. 4hrs later being handled not gently by x-ray...which an x-ray shows fracture bone issues...this was from almost two yrs ago and OBVIOUSLY TISSUE TENDON OR NERVE ISSUE = MRI OR CT NOT AN XRAY. No dr. watched it get busier with headaches, sprained wrist ect all seen before me and left...I'm sitting half laying w two chairs ice bag nothing. I finally walked out. Made it to the curb had to sit down in tears and pain...I WATCHED 10 NURSES AND STAFF WALK RIGHT PAST ME NOT EVEN ASKING IF IM OK????. I just moved here and my PCP is in washington so I was hoping to get an MRI and referral for ortho and a cortisone shot in my shoulder. HORRIBLE. I will be asking for a detailed billing ledger to make sure I didn't get charged an er Drs fee or other as no Dr. Saw me. Just a rough x-ray and go back to the waiting room. Oh and I told each person a detailed issue and timeline...no one responded back or even a knowledged what I was saying. I just had a Total knee replacement done on Wednesday and couldn't have had a better experience. The staff was very attentive and friendly and very professional. I have had many surgeries in my life but this was by far the best experience ever. From the surgery center staff, to the surgery staff, to the third floor nursing staff all of them were great!!! I saw Dr. Michael Maurer in the ER on 6\11\19 for what my clinician and I were worried was a blood clot, or some other disfunction of my veins in my right leg. I was sent back to ultrasound from the waiting area as my primary had ordered the ultrasound in my chart. I am disabled and have dealt with this clinician before in the care of my mother where his absolute lack of care about patients who are disabled or on medicare\medicaid lead to my mother passing away a week later from an infection he could have caught if he cared enough. So needless to say I wasn't real thrilled to see his face. He then diagnoses me with venous stasis, has ZERO recommendations for care, tells me to follow up in two days with my primary, which is darn near impossible because he precepts over residents in his clinic, but I had an appointment on the books a week from then. When I see my doctor nothing adds up, diagnosis doesn't really fit, we need to run more tests. I am furious. This man has zero bedside manner, won't even look you in the eye unless you force the issue. If you have chronic medical conditions he sees you as a problem he just wants out of his ER. If he is your doc, request someone else. He may lead to you getting sicker, as I have since this visit. Or dying like my mother did! read more

Early this fall I had an emergency c-section at this hospital. I was very impressed with how quickly they got me in, prepped the room, reassured me, and then the mother/baby ward took such great care of me. The room was quiet, the food was good, and I knew that if I needed something that the nurses would come and help me.
