A+ was very accommodating and offered to pick up my car from Hare Repair since they were close by, saving me a trip. It was a Friday and they were already kind of busy, so they had to keep my car over the weekend since transmission diagnosis takes a really long time. They didn't find anything wrong with my transmission (even though something was definitely up -- my gears would slip every time I accelerated) so I took it my the dealership and it turned out that my engine computer was on a recall list, which Toyota fixed for free. I appreciated that not only did they not charge me for the diagnosis (since they couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission), but that other less-honest shops would have jumped at the chance to offer me a rebuilt or refurbished transmission anyway to the tune of thousands of thousands of dollars.

At A+ on Beverly Hill, that was not my experience. My car was having a minor issue. A+ quoted me $325 to fix it. They broke an important part in the process. I find out that the dealership for my car, and other car shops, charge $150 for this particular job. I then find out that A+ Transmission didn't do the work (which they concealed from me); they took my car to the shop next door (RPM Auto) to do it instead, who did it for $150. So they were hoping to get $175 out of me for driving my car about 50 feet next door. But since they broke the part, they wanted another $325 for the replacement on top of the $325 for the initial service, totalling $650. But A+ wasn't done with me yet. They wouldn't let me take my car unless I paid for the service that broke my car. So after being forced to do so, I took my car to get other opinions. Other shops agreed that it was unfair to charge me for breaking the part. The place I finally found that fixed the damage done by A+ was extremely kind and understanding and helpful, did all of the work that A+ failed to do and more, and did it all for less than the $650 that A+ wanted for it. I tried to speak to someone in management at A+ about my experience, but the owner at A+ was very hostile, argumentative, and did nothing (well, other than insulting my intelligence). I was then blown off by the Director of Operations office, after talking with the office via phone and being promised at least a call back, but I never heard from anyone. Again, all I ask for is some decent, common honesty so I know what's going on with my car, and not to be blown off. I'm not angry, just very disappointed, and down a few hundred dollars for no good reason. I hope that A+ and its management and Operations Director eventually find a way to run this business profitably while also treating people - whose cars are in their hands - with decent common courtesy. It would have gone a very, very long way in my opinion. I will update this review if I ever hear back from the Operations Director, with a higher review if he can offer literally anything in this situation, even if it's just to hear me out. But after several weeks I find that unlikely.

I am a senior woman and so many people treat me as if I'm not as intelligent as they are. They look at age as a disadvantage, not that I have had a lot more years to learn more. He helped me figure out that it could be a recall on my truck and after contacting Ford and the dealership was able to have the over $3000 worth of work done for free. Therefore even as a cost of not getting the job he was very honest and helpful. If I have any other problems with my three vehicles I will definitely go back to the shop. You may not have a beautiful waiting room and snacks and Designer a coffee, but you also will get honesty and a good job when you need it. So god bless you A1 transmission staff!
