I came for a simple cleaning. My teeth do not hurt, and I had no complaints. The doctor asked many personal questions not related to my visit, which felt uncomfortable. The exam was very rough and painful. I told her multiple times it hurt, but she ignored it. My gums started bleeding. She was rude and kept repeating that she is a professional in a very aggressive way. Instead of explaining clearly, she said I have "very big problems" and that my whole mouth is unhealthy, but gave no clear answers. I felt uncomfortable and left. Like other dentists, Sammamish Smiles pushes hard the purchase of a night guard. They'll warranty their crowns and other dental work provided that you actually USE said night guard. They also offer a saliva test to help identify bad bacteria strains which they can then treat with antibiotics (albeit at extra cost). Alternatively you can bypass them and obtain a similar test by mail, possibly cheaper and providing more useful info (e.g., insight into oral history, suggested diet changes, needed supplements, etc.) Heads-up (so to speak) on the checking of gum pockets! In my case, numbers called out seemed wildly exaggerated, say by some twofold. Consequently, SS advised a deep cleaning which was odd since I just had one months prior. Anyway, will obtain a second opinion to be sure. Compared to other dentists Sammamish Smiles tends to be pricey, service for service. Not a problem if you have deep pockets or double coverage. As far as ambiance, is spacious and airy if not anxious. A dog is kept up front which seems unusual for a health facility, no? During your exam, other staff might stand around observing, training, or who knows what. Doc may pepper you with questions like, "Why are you here?", "What does periodontal disease mean to you?" etc. etc. Not a big deal but it does render the dentist chair as somewhat of a hot seat. Give them a whirl if inclined, for the thrill and chill, perchance a prophylaxis--unless they manage to upsell you to a full scaling and root planing. Your smileage may vary. read more

I wished that I had read the reviews prior to scheduling a teeth cleaning for my son. Believe all of the negative reviews for this dental practice as they are consistent with the treatment my son received. They kept my son waiting for one hour prior to giving him an exam. They claimed that he had serious periodontal disease requiring antibiotics, a deep scaling treatment and a mouth guard. The dentist pushed hard to upsell him on treatments that he didn't need, did not want and his insurance would not cover. They tried to schedule him for multiple follow up appointments which he did not want. He spent over three hours at the office and NEVER received a teeth cleaning!!! I saw a review today online that was both shocking and just terrible. 1. This person actually had the nerve to criticize the way that the doctor's office speaks. Totally rude and totally low class. 2. The daughter doesn't brush her teeth. That is the fact. How is that offensive? My updated review for Dr. Jinita. I finally hit my 6 month mark on getting my gum treatment. Today it was measured from 6's to only 4 4's and everything else was 2-3. I still need to follow the doctor's orders and invest in a good Philips Sonicare but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dentist. If you believe what she does and how amazingly excellent she is, then you will have the same results. You have to trust your dentist and seriously people, you have to listen and follow the advice and directions. Love love love love this place. there is probably not a worse dentist out there. to start, I work in an outpatient clinic so I am somewhat familiar with insurance billing and asked them to print the financial form that I signed prior to the appointment. The form said I would owe $0 for the teeth cleaning and exam and xrays - standard since my insurance covers it. When I went in for my 1 hour appointment, not only did they leave me many times (appointment ended up taking almost 3 hours) but they tried to push extra care that I did not need on me, which they insisted insurance would cover most of (still with an outrageous out of pocket cost of $1000). In fact, had I gone through with this plan of care set out by the doctor, I would have eventually owed over $5,000, since they had simply lied about what insurance would and would not cover. I refused the extra treatment after the doctor tried multiple times to convince me that I needed it for my supposed gingivitis. After this whole rigamarole, they refused to treat me ever again and said I was "dismissed from the clinic" for refusing their treatments. They later tried to bill for codes (treatments) they had not performed, which is fraud. Don't know who they paid to write these five star reviews but I can tell you they probably aren't real. read more

I recently went to Sammamish Smiles with a chipped tooth. Dr. Galohda was distracted and what looked to me like bothered. So, when my simple visit turned into a haggling session, I wasn't surprised. Either I buy this $399 mouth guard or I cannot be helped! and btw, my insurance doesn't cover it. I left with out being serviced because although everyone doesn't feel the effects of this recession there are those of us that do. I didn't go in there for a mouth guard that btw I dont need. Our family has needed a variety of procedures - wisdom tooth removal, gum care, night guards for grinding as well as routine cleanings and x-rays. All services have been 10/10. The physical space is bright and clean and the equipment is all top notch. The front office goes above and beyond to make sure patients understand all charges before any work is done, including what insurance covers and what might be out of network or out of pocket. Dr. Parekh had poor bedside manner. She was rough handling my mouth during cleaning and examination. She found periodontal disease and made it seem quite neglected and dire. My previous dentist and a second opinion were both less dramatic. Negative stars. Witnessed the call first hand while visiting. My brother had an appointment the next day and got a call where the dentist was refusing to do a covered cleaning because he didn't want to pay for an optional gum cleaning. They refused to clean his teeth and the receptionist agreed to cancel the appt within 24hrs because it was the dentist who refused to do the cleaning without this upsell charge. We will see if they charge him for the cancellation. I've never heard of a place doing this. Do not go here. read more

Dr. Jinita Parekh recommended to get my daughter's all 4 wisdom teeth be extracted. We decided to get a second opinion with Dr. Walker at Sammamish Pediatric Dentist and he said that these were her molars that are coming in late and don't need extraction. There was an infection which Dr. Parekh had written an antibiotic for her that day. About the antibiotic- Dr. Parekh's clinic did not have my daughter's allergies listed and Dr. Parekh prescribed her medication that she could not take. We called the after hours clinic and they said we would get a call the next day from the clinic which we never did. We called the clinic in the morning and got antibiotics that would work. read more

My whole adult life I've had nothing but bad dental experiences. It made going a nightmare and my dental health suffered. Luckily I was able to find Dr. Parekh. For once in my life I didn't feel judged by my dentist. She is very honest in telling you what's up with you mouth but does it in a kind and understanding way. I was told that I had a gum disease which I did not (verified with my family dentist) they wanted to bill my insurance for 2K. After saying no, she poked my gums to prove that my gums have an issue. Cleaned for 5 mins and then was done. They are trying to desperately make money and not providing a good treatment. I was traumatized for days after the visit and my gums hurt for several days. When I visit this office I forget I'm even at the dentist! The front staff are amazing! Liz is incredibly helpful and welcoming and always greets me with a smile. If I could give this dentist zero stars, I would. My husband broke a tooth in the front and went to see Dr. Parekh. The tooth was removed and an implant was placed. My husband followed the dental plan that Dr. Parekh recommended. When it was time to put in the tooth, Dr. Parekh used too much torque and broke off the abutment in the implant. Dr. Parekh did not take any responsibility for HER error. She informed my husband that she is not responsible because he didn't follow the dental plan. Show me in the plan where it said "if the abutment breaks off due to Dr. Parekh's negligence it will be the fault of the patient"? I can honestly tell you it wasn't part of the plan. Dr. Parekh sent my husband to two oral surgeons after she failed to get the broken abutment out of the implant. They could not get the abutment out either. My husband tried to take her to court as she still insists she wasn't negligent, but there wasn't an attorney that would take the case because there wasn't enough money in it. My husband is still walking around with a missing tooth and a broken abutment in his gums a year later. I would avoid this dentist at all cost. If she wrecks HER work, she'll blame it on the patient. read more

Initially I was impressed with the doctor and the staff. However, I would not recommend this office to anyone. This is how the initial cleaning visit is conducted: Front desk staff checks you in (Natalie is wonderful!), you meet with the dentist to go over notes/concerns/history (slow, but nice to have this interaction), X-Rays (super slow), then the dentist comes back with an assistant to do a basic exam (super slow), then they all leave and another person comes in and shows you how much everything will cost and breaks down the recommendations (nice to know what it all costs, but done very awkwardly and uncomfortably), then the cleaning - as others noted in reviews, the doctor became abrasive after not accepting all her recommendations. I brought a mouth guard in with me to be cleaned - an hour and a half later of all these people shuffling in and out, they "forgot" and then didn't have time to do it. I told them I would not be back. However, before finding another dentist I had a weekend dental emergency and called. I spoke to their answering service who said I would get a call back within 30 minutes so that we could access next steps.....3 days later and no one has called. Went elsewhere. I think there are a lot of kinks here that need to be worked out. read more

Wow! 1. Dr. Schubel is so nice and friendly as well as detail oriented. My routine exam was relatively painless, and you could tell he knew what he was doing. 2. Dr. Schubel referred me to have my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Youn. I had the surgery today hours before writing this review. Norco, OTC painkillers, and antibiotics were prescribed. However, the pain with just Ibuprophen is so minimal that at least right now Norco is unnecessary. Hats of the Dr. Youn for an incredible surgery with no complications and minimal pain! He even called me hours later to check in and answer any questions! Highly recommend this dentist and surgeon for the kindness, professionalism, care, and affordability. read more

I had a hard time finding a dentist with my new insurance, one who had good reviews and wasn't too far away from my home. Luckily I found Dr. Parekh! The experience was exceptional. She really took the time to explain all aspects of the exam process and was pleasant as we discussed the preventative treatment I would need. Her whole staff was very welcoming and made the new patient experience easy and, more importantly, painless! I've had some odd dentists in the past but Dr. Parekh definitely raises the bar. She's down to earth and gives you very practical information, and even had one of her staff break down the costs of treatment for me. We live in a world where many health care places do not discuss cost as a factor in treatment, but I personally highly value that conversation and appreciate this place doing that for me. Worst experience I've ever had at a dentist. I booked for a routine cleaning/exam ~ I was clear with the receptionist that it's hard for me to make time to come to appointments because I have an infant to look after, so wanted to make sure that I could get my cleaning done when I book an appointment. She reassured me she would book in enough time for me to get my teeth cleaned. I come in for my appointment on time, they do the X-rays, then the hygienist tells me the dentist will come in to go over the X-rays with me (Dr. Khazali) I thought this was a bit weird cause every other time I have gotten my teeth cleaned the dentist would go over my teeth AFTER the cleaning, not before. I asked the hygienist again if I was going to have my teeth actually cleaned and she said yes of course... when Dr. Khazali went through my gum check~it was like he was explaining to the hygienist how to write the numbers and where the entire time as if she wasn't properly trained already. This wouldn't have bothered me if it wasn't so time consuming. It took the longest I've ever experienced for this entire process, of going over the X-ray and gum check, etc. then after he was done the exam, he walked out out and the receptionist came in ~ to go over prices of the recommended treatments for me on the computer screen before I had even gotten anything done which I found extreme awkward and weird (like others have mentioned in reviews). The whole process was really awkward and not professional... especially because the receptionist was chewing gum loudly at the same time. They tried upselling me to a cleaning that isn't covered by my insurance and would cost me $500 out of pocket. Then after she went over numbers, that was it... they were closing up shop and after hours of being there I left having gotten only X-rays done, no cleaning ever happened! I was honestly shocked and confused... I had never experienced anything like this ever before anywhere else. On top of this sad experience, I kept getting emails afterward telling me to book my tooth extraction (the dentist had not ever mentioned during the exam that I needed a tooth extracted) which was incredibly confusing and alarming. Overall I wish I had gone to a different dentist in the first place. Maybe some of the other Dentists that work at this practice are more efficient but this experience made me not ever want to return for any work done. If I book and set aside time for a cleaning or for any appointment I expect to have what I booked done. That's the whole purpose of making a booking in advance read more

Everyone there is very pleasant and I enjoyed my root canal very much, or at least as much as you can enjoy the dentist. Very painless and easy. However, I need to knock down the ratings a bit for a few things. I'm not so sure all of their treatments are on the up and up. I was told I'd need a few thousand dollar procedure multiple times every year for upkeep and prevention. I called my old dentist and was told I'd need it only once. Seems a bit fishy, but it looks like I'll be looking for one more opinion before I make a decision. Also, they bring in someone to break down the cost when additional treatments are suggested. This was the most awkward thing I have endured for quite some time. Upon seeing how much it was I told them I'd have to think about it. Afterwards it seemed like the rest of my appointment was rushed and they didn't seem as friendly as when I first went in. They were very eager though to tell me about the financing option they have. I thanked them for the information, but they just couldn't seem to stop themselves from telling me they could do the credit inquiry right then. Multiple times. Overall, this place wasn't bad. I have visited this office one time and have mixed feelings about the experience. First, the positive. I was treated very well. Went in for a cleaning as a new patient but ended up getting root planning. Even so, the entire visit was less than an hour. Impressive. I liked the doctor as well as the staff. They were great. Now, for the negative. I have read about dentists trying to increase their bottom line by getting patients to agree to unneeded procedures or to a more expensive solution just so the dentist get's more money. Third, they told me I had decay occurring under an existing crown and they they needed to fix the tooth and replace the crown. There are 2 ways they can do a crown. They can have an outside lab create the crown, which requires 2 trips, or they can now create the lab in their own office - only one trip. For some reason, the second option costs more. They chose to only quote me the higher amount for the new crown. They did not give me the choice. I switched to their sister office in Redmond, asked for a second opinion from them, and was warned that I should not get the crown replaced because it would possibly cause additional damage to the roots and bone.
