I like the 80s diner look and feel of this place, very nostalgic. I had the shawarma which I liked but I wasn't asked what toppings I would like in the shawarma, which is common in other restaurants. However, the donair was inedible! The sauce is extremely sweet and ruins the whole wrap. It's also a lot of sauce and makes it into a soppy mess. This is a Lebanese shawarma/falafel/donair place. The other donair place we've been to in Burlington is a east coast style donair - Montreal pizza place. This donair place is much larger and has plenty of seating both tables and counter style along the side wall and front window. Here you line up and order and they eventually bring your order to you on a tray with your drinks if any. Today I ordered the Donair combo not to be confused with the combination plate. The Donair combo included a regular sized donair which is the meat, sauce, diced onions all wrapped in a pita inside a paper wrap inside a plastic wrap. You have a choice of rice or salad and a drink as well. This I found well wrapped and because of the plastic and the tight paper wrap there's no chance it will leak all over. This donair was quite generous with the meat and it was quite filling. The sauce which is always a bit sweet was good but there wasn't too much. The sauce is a bit runny and not thick like tzatziki. The side of rice was really red in color. I don't know what made it so red but it wasn't spicy and it had a different taste to it but it was also good. The combo after tax was 15 dollars. The combination plate is what I will get next time. It's more of what I tend to order which is a plate of your choice of meat (shawarma or donair, rice, salad, pita and a drink. Their menu is pretty large and they even have a variety of desserts as well. This establishment was basically pretty full when we arrived and most of the tables were already taken. When I moved to Burlington I was desperately looking for a donair similar to the ones I used to get in the Ottawa Valley. I have to say up front, this is nothing like the east coast style donair with the sweet sauce. This has a Mediterranean twist, so don't get it confused. Purely because of that, I was disappointed. While it was good, it just wasn't what I was looking for. The meat was great, just the right amount of spice. Price is fair for the amount of food you get. It's in a busy plaza, so there isn't always tons of parking, but it was worth the wait. Can't say I will be back as I prefer the east coast style, but it's a great lunch option in Burlington. read more

Halal meat is served here per verbal assurance from the Owner. Tried the Donair wrap which has a sweet tahini sauce. It's interesting since not use to a sweet flavor in these type of wraps before. I also tried the chicken kebab wrap which is more traditional and I liked that one better. Fast and friendly service. read more

Okay I know everyone probably already knows this but I'm new to Burlington and just happened to try Sammy's for the first time today, and OMFG that was some of the best donair I've ever had in my life! I had the beef today (will definitely try chicken and falafel and other stuff on subsequent visits) and the $6 "junior" size was a plenty filling lunch in the midst of a long bike ride. Holy moly that garlic sauce...I'm going to dream about it tonight. May have to go back tomorrow. If you have never been, drop whatever you're doing and go now. read more

A little pricey for fast food, but this is the best Donair this side of Halifax. Sammy's has been a staple in Burlington for more than two decades, and I always make it a point to get at least one visit in, anytime I'm in the golden horseshoe. The quality of the meat, pita, and veggies are excellent, but the real show-stopper is the sauce. Sweet and buttery, I'd put this sauce on everything if I could. For the other reviewer, who tried to go off-the-menu--get over it. Sammy's is usually a busy place, and they don't go off the menu to keep the line moving. If everything was cook to order, it would take a lot longer for the rest of us. Fun Fact: The owner's name is Noble, not Sammy. The food here is good most of the time. Sometimes it is dry but the sauce makes up for that. I am very particular when it comes to dry food. Their sauce is really good and i usually ask for it on the side because it gets quite messy. Overall, great food if you catch it at the right time! read more

Honestly this place is trash. Used to be a good place in the early 2000's but not sure what happened to it. They microwave the meat in front of you and then Drench it with sauce. They also accept cash only which is really inconvenient and you're forced to use the ATM machine they've strategically placed beside the cash. read more

Worst take out food ever! Nothing is made fresh, they reheat the meat in a microwave, in a plastic bowl, before serving it to you. No flavour in the food at all. Worst customer service I have had in years. Brutal. Will never go back. It seemed like the staff were having the worst day of their lives.
