It seems Sammy and his salesman have a reputation of selling a vision, and providing a sub-par reality. Keith, my wife and I did a walk through of the work we wanted quoted, which included: landscaping, retaining wall length, concrete driveway and patio block under the gazebo. $500 for a "professional" design and renderings, which by the way we've asked for several times and were only provided pics via text. We were offered a "discount" of around $2300 as if they were doing us a favor. However, little did we know, after we signed the contract, the overall length of the retaining wall drastically shrunk. The $2000 budget for plants and shrubs, ended up resulting in several lavender plants, several small bushes, one of the four taller shrubs in the original design, several hostas, and a few hydrangeas. Also, the overall footprint and design of the concrete driveway was also reduced. Then, the concrete driveway was poured early June. The first truck delivered around 9am, and then the second truck delivered approx. 30-40 min later. Meanwhile, the concrete from the first truck starter to cure, and I noticed them panicking because they hadn't properly troweled. They pulled the bull float back out. The end result was extremely sub-par, however, wasn't visible until 2-3 days later. Chatter marks all over, scuffs from the broom getting dragged over semi-dried concrete, just terrible. Sam Refused to even come out and look at the final product, and his excuse was that he knew nothing about concrete and threw his concrete guy under the bus. After a long texting disagreement, Sammy agreed to replace the concrete and asked for me to send him 2 estimates, and he would ask his concrete guy for 2 estimates. The next day, his concrete guy called me and offered to skim coat the driveway using Euco-Re-Cover, however, couldn't guarantee anything. I said no. Sammy then called me, along with his concrete guy, and we proceeded to argue. Sam said the driveway was functional, and he refused to replace it because of aesthetics... They both also said pouring concrete would result in a 50/50 chance of the same sub-par result, which I know is B.S.! I had an architect from Columbus, and a REAL, seasoned Concrete contractor from Columbus review the photos, and they advised that it was obvious the concrete began to cure and got away from them. Also, they advised that there could be two different concrete mixes because there's a drastic difference in color. Also, generally, a delay of up to 40 minutes between pours shouldn't result in a cold joint in the concrete. Both said they've replaced concrete in the past simply because of sub-par finishes. Sammy finally told me that he'd send me a check back for the Full $ amount, minus the $200 for the stone base. Then he proceeded to get angry and say, so you get a free driveway out of this!?! I received the check 2 weeks later, and it was for $6000.00, which coincidentally is the max amount he would have to pay in small claims court. MY OPINION...Sammy's constant unprofessional attitude, several snippy remarks and unwillingness to try and resolve any issues or concerns in a mature way poorly reflect on his business. Do a deep dive into SVL and come to your own conclusion before doing business with these guys. read more

Our lawn was quite rough and out-of-level; it was rough enough a couple low spots, rather like divots, nearly would sprain an ankle. We contracted with Sammy's to level the back- and side-yard lawn--get rid of those rough areas--and install a patio, along with removing some bushes and applying mulch in some areas. The sales rep who gave us his pitch promised a "laser-level lawn." By the next spring one corner of the patio is sagging, and the lawn is nearly as rough as it had been, and it's been getting rougher over the years since his crew performed the work. When I complained to Sammy about the lawn mower bumpety-bump-bumping along, his answer was to keep mowing the lawn and let grass clippings decompose to fill in the low spots. read more

I initially was very pleased with what Sam and his crew could do. They cleaned up an overgrown mess since I was ill and I was pleased. But the next season came and I paid him money for services that would include the spring and fall, and signed up for a weeding contract. He was unable to keep the money straight and couldn't remember what we had discussed. He did send receipts but the details weren't complete. Also, I was charged less money if I paid in cash but there was no paper trail for that. He said part of that money was down payment for a fence when I had already paid a much larger sum in a different payment for the fence. It never really was cleared up. When the fence was installed I knew it looked more flimsy compared to what I had before but I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. But as the season progressed, we had many mishaps will boards easily knocked out by my dogs, boards that were glued rather than nailed and easily pushed through, and just not level and sturdy. He admitted that he had gotten the fence from a local home store rather than the fencing company he had quoted. That made it very clear why the product is less than desirable. Now I am stuck with this inferior product and needed to find someone else to work on my property. When my dog broke through one more board and I contacted him to work on it, I found that he had blocked me on FB on his company page and has blocked my phone number. So unprofessional. Do NOT hire Sam and his crew. They can do the work but they are kids and unprofessional. You don't know what you're going to get. Responding to Sams reply, I wanted the panels from American Fencing as he told me he would. I would give anything to have that material that he promised and would have been willing to pay more to get what I asked for. And now, I would love for him to unblock me so that he could tend the needs that are still issues with the fence. My dog is rough, but never got through and had issues with the original portions of the fence from the fencing company. Shame on you Sam for blocking me and refusing to help me when I am still having issues with the product. And yes, the product is. It what I wanted. He knew I was having issues with my dog getting out which is why I contacted him to put one in. I had had a few panels of American Fencing that was strong and the rest was split rail. I needed to have it all be privacy fencing so he couldn't jump. The issues with my previous fence was not quality just the height. So the quality of fencing IS the issue. The wood is thinner and the cross boards are several inches higher thus causing more "give" on the bottom of the fence. I am so very disappointed and Sam should replace this. But he is too busy being defensive and not willing to admit he gave me an inferior product and not what he told me I was getting. read more
