The Job: I went in asking for an alignment on a 2002 Nissan Altima and thats all they did. Basically my front tires had a negative toe and the back wheel had a positive thrust angle and showed me a document with all this. The use machines. Paid $75. The Location: The shop is easy to get to. Its right off Rosecrans. The shop is actually clean and the waiting area is decent... nothing special. The Service: When I went in, it was a Saturday around 11am. I asked for the tire alignment and explain that this was my first time here and found it on yelp and I was excited to give it a shot. The man who was at the front stated that they were about to go to lunch and that they could have the car ready after 2 pm... I sort of sighed but I knew that this could happen. I asked if I could bring it another day, or make an appointment so that I can have it at a designated time and he quickly jumped up and said and told me not to worry, he'll have the next guy take a look at it and that I should be good to go in 30 minutes. I said thanks and told him he didnt have to do that, but insisted for me to stay. I wait for a about 30 minutes, they even allowed me to look at the car while it was being aligned and answered questions since I love to learn about what was going on. I went to Sams alignment because I needed a quick alignment on my car after another shop happened to "notice" my car was out of alignment...aka hoping I wouldn't notice they took it out of alignment. I looked up sams place on yelp. He quoted me 75 bucks for the alignment. I called to make an apt but he says they just do walk-ins and to call before I came so he could tell me the wait I called and there was no wait. My car was up on the machine in 2 minutes and I was out in 25 minutes after needing all 4 wheels aligned In addition I got a printout of the was/is values from the laser alignment machine which is cool to see even if I don't know what it all means. First off, let me start by saying I had never met Sam before, so this is a completely unbiased review. I have been driving on a donut spare for the last couple weeks trying to find a good, honest and fair deal for a new or used tire. The big chains wanted $249+ and I kept looking around and found Sam's Alignment and Tire (NOT Sam's alignment and brake). Called up, they didn't have any used in my size but quoted me $120 all-in for a brand new tire. Asked if I needed an appointment, he said "can you come in now?" I was in and out in 15 min!!! The technician who replaced my tire was so friendly, even took my golf clubs out of my trunk and placed the spare back in and put all the lug caps back on. Had the pleasure of speaking with Sam who's been doing this 30+ years and I see why. In the shady game of tire replacement, Sam's Alignment and Tire stands head and shoulders above the rest. I would recommend these guys to any and everyone in the area. My total bill was $120 - EXACTLY what I was quoted on the phone. Do not bring your lowered car to this alignment shop. Called this shop looking for an alignment on my recently lowered car and they said to bring it on over. Made it clear that my car was lowered and they said it should be fine. Thought everything would be fine due to the good reviews on yelp. After arriving the owner took a look at my car and told me that they would try their best because the car was lowered, pointing to the rear camber explaining to me that there was nothing they could do to straighten it out. I agreed as I needed the car to drive straight to get home. After completing the alignment they returned my car to me and i drove home with everything seeming fine. However after less than one day of driving the car became extremely unaligned and began pulling to the left. The steering wheel was not centered at all and was constantly trying to adjust itself to the left. I also noticed that the shop had unclipped my side skirt, probably from lifting it up improperly. I called the shop telling them that the car wasn't aligned and they told me to come back and they would sort it out. After returning to the shop the owner recognized my lowered vehicle and immediately insisted that the car was pulling to the left because of my rear camber and that there wasn't anything he could do. I showed him how misaligned my steering wheel was and he took my car for 30 second test drive and again reiterated that my rear camber was the problem. He then suggested that my tires could be what was affecting the misalignment of the steering wheel and offered me to pay $20 for him to rotate them. Feeling like none of this sounded legitimate, and may be trying to swindle me out of more money, I decided to go to another alignment shop. At this other shop I only had the front wheels aligned and they told me that the last shop had them completely out of alignment. My car pulling had nothing to do with the rear camber like the owner of this shop insisted and my unaligned steering wheel had nothing to do with the tires. Now I understand that the owner did tell me beforehand that he would "try his best" because my car was lowered, I don't think that they should have taken me in if they lacked the proper equipment to do so. They also brought me all the way back to the shop to try and get me to agree to a tire rotation I did not need and wouldn't even attempt to realign my car, wasting time and gas. The "impossible" alignment that couldn't be done on my car was done for cheaper at another shop with the rear camber not being an issue whatsoever. They tried to abuse my lack of knowledge to make a quick sale and I have learned my lesson. read more
