I visited my closest Sam's Club and bought a Hotdog Combo from their cafe/concessions. The combo included the hotdog with a beef frank and a 30oz drink. My trip to Sam's was at a later time in the afternoon, closer to 7pm. The cafe was not entirely busy as it was a weekday and closer to their closing time. However, we still had the time to order, sit at their tables, and eat before shopping, all before closing. I have not had a Sam's hotdog since my childhood, but it remains steady in quality and price. My total charge was only $1.52 for the small but hefty combo! It was so filling that I genuinely could not finish the entire thing. My friends accompanied me on this trip and got the same combo, and we all could agree on this review. For a hot dog, you can't get better than the sam's club cafe- seriously. I recently went with my friend Makayla and we got paid $1.52 for the hot dog and drink combo (tax included in that price) and got this massive hot dog (pictured below) that I could barely finish! Where else can you get that kind of a deal? Besides the price and size of the hot dog, it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly warm with an excellently steamed-but-not-soggy bun, this thing was incredible. Sam's serves these hot dogs plain but with many topping options to choose from at no cost, including relish, chopped onions, ketchup, and mustard. While the toppings are great, the hot dog is so good that you really could eat it plain! As for the cafe service, the employees are always the nicest people, just as they were this time that I went. I got in line about an hour before the store's closing (which is usually when the cafe begins to shut down) and the staff was just as considerate as if I had walked in mid-shift. Additionally, there was ample seating at this time as there usually isn't during rush. I only have two critiques for the Sam's cafe, those being that 1) they should keep more chopped onions in stock until closing as there weren't any when I went and 2) they should have more working drink options as some of the fountains were shut down. Most Sam's are chaotic and anxiety inducing. This is one is no different lol. I guess my biggest complaint however is the staff. They seem not have one. The ones that are there understandably don't want to be there. You'll see one as you walk in and leave. However if you need a bakery or meat item, just hope they have it out already. They do have self checkout which is a lifesaver. This place could be great if they hired to capacity. Birmingham is a busy place and they must hire accordingly. I haven't been to this Sam's in years since I no longer work nearby. Stopped by looking for one of the local bakeries doing a roadshow in this location. Layout is a little different from other locations in the area, and to be honest, I just couldn't get the feel for the flow. I felt a wee bit like I was in a maze, as some aisle dead end into others which run in a different direction. I stopped by the Sam's Club Cafe to take a break during my errand run and grabbed one of their four meat pizza slices. It was huge! I definitely got my money's worth! The only thing was that it was slightly greasy than I would have liked, but what should I expect from a pizza? They are sustainable, using cardboard-like plates instead of plastic and offering aluminum sheets if you would rather take it to-go than dining in in their small seating area. Food Court: For this week's assignment I decided to go to Sam's Club. I usually go and do all my shopping there and noticed the food court is cheap. The food wasn't really good, to be honest. I come to this Sam's a lot, for groceries, gas, and to print photos. I placed an online order Thursday morning for the 1 hour photo. I got busy and forgot to pick them up. Today, they were out of drinks as well but they explained that was due to their newly re-opened kitchen status. I had an $20 E-card issued to me from Sam's Club. After I shopped for over an hour and stood in line to check out for 20 minutes, I was told that they do not accept the e-cards due to some "fraud" issues! But, the acting manager said I can go to Walmart or to Samsclub.com and use the e-card! The acting manager said that she would be fired if she was to override the register to accept the e-card. I visited Sam's Club this afternoon after spending some time at the library and needing some food as a result. I also visited this specific Sam's because it was close to the library I was studying at and because I needed gas and with my membership (or rather my parents'), it's slightly cheaper than an average gas station. I went for their hot dog combo that comes with a hot dog (of course) and a drink. I ordered that with a water because I do not enjoy sodas. As for the hot dog, it was alright. I am already not a fan of hotdogs, so I was not going in expecting too much. I like Sam's Club and the atmosphere, and my family and I go there all the time to grocery shop and occasionally get a box of pizza. The presentation of the hot dog was very nice, but the taste lacked bold flavor and the toppings were subpar. Great store, however Costo still has them beat on change. The one thing I like though is this stores location since I live downtown Birmingham. I guess that's a trade off. The reason for not giving this store a five star rating is mainly due to Costo, the surrounding Walmart and the entry point of the Sams gas station. If there was a way for Sams to open themselves up to the interstate, then this location would open itself to another star from me. The WORST service of any Sam's I have ever been to. The employees seem to walk around in pairs talking to each other and when you interrupt them to ask where something is they just point in a direction and tell you an aisle (even if they don't know) and just walk away from you. Even the customer service at the register is terrible. People are rude and not helpful at all. I was once told my Sam's club registration was "incorrect" and was refused service. At customer service I later found out it was a misunderstanding and there was nothing wrong with my registration. I have since turned in my Sam's membership and turned to Costco. read more

I had a tire blow out and came to Sams to find a replacement. Upon entering the store, I approached an employee in the tire section, who ignored my presence even when asked for assistance. The tire crew were standing in the back playing on their phones. I tried to call their auto department through the store directory while waiting only to watch through the window as they answered my call and immediately hung up on me. When I did find an employee able to help, he was complaining that they were too busy today and I didn't have an appointment (which was not listed online or at the desk I had been waiting at for 25 minutes.) Ultimately, He said it would be taken care of and I purchased the tire. Left my number and went to wait in the store. While observing the other employees throughout, I noticed that none of them were helping customers but actively avoiding them and every phone on every desk seemed to be ringing. None of the employees bothered answering these, but ignored them to text or use their cells. After 30 minutes of waiting I went to the cafeteria to sit with a drink, to buy a cup took another 20 minutes and I got to watch the kitchen staff give the most abysmal customer service I have ever seen, complete with a show of throwing raw pretzels into hot butter and fishing them out with plastic utensils(nope not kidding). An hour into this experience of a place, I got a call that my car was ready and I immediately (within 60 seconds) was back at the auto desk. My wait continued here for 20 more minutes of staring through the window while being ignored and making eye contact with the mechanics. Finally, one brought me the keys and I left. I will never go back. In fact, I will never go back to a Sams. I've cancelled my membership and will drive an extra ten minutes to Costco. Get it together Sams. read more
