Always love the stuff at TJMaxx. But I agree with another review that the clothes always look a bit picked over and disorganized. The Hoover location on Highway 31 has more to choose from in perhaps a smaller space and is usually very neat and well presented. This store seemed to have only half as much furniture, wall decor and Nick Nacks. And the blouses were mostly $5 cheaper next door at Bealls. However, when any TJ Maxx has a mark down, the prices for the quality are hard to beat!! I would recommend checking them out! read more

This is not my normal TJ Maxx, but I was in the area and decided to stop by to see what was on sale/clearance. I was able to find several items that I liked and purchased. While the line was long, they had several cashiers up front, so I didn't have to wait long. Additionally the store was very organized, which is not the norm for all of the discount stores. Terrible customer service. Cashier #7 on 2.9.24 around 11:15 am needs an attitude adjustment. I kindly rolled my buggy with several items to cashier #7 with her red light on. She was breaking down boxes behind the counter. I patiently waited and she completely disregarded me standing there and called for the next customer. She said "I didn't call you." Then she rolled her eyes, huffed and puffed cause she had to check me out. I left. I'll never shop here again. You're in the wrong business hun. read more

Customer service was great. Everyone was friendly and more than willing to help you if needed. The racks were surprisingly pretty full. I'm used to this location being out of alot of product when I come to look through the racks of clothing. Cute home decor and plenty of tshirts (right up my alley). read more

This location has a really good home department, including a large space dedicated to side chairs, ottoman, side tables, etc. I was surprised to find more Buddha related items here than in my hometown of San Francisco. Maybe because no one was buying that merchandise? The travel section was good with a nice selection of Sharper Image travel stuff. I found lots of TSA locks and a hot iron converter/adapter for Europe. I guess everyone - men and women - are petite in Birmingham because I found very few items sized L and XL. There was an entire aisle of Medium shirts but only a section about 10" wide for both L and XL. Very odd. In the end I bought a Coach travel totebag and four TSA locks. My cousin bought a copy of "Fault of our Stars" for $4.99. read more

If you are looking for great candles, this is the place to find them. Not only are they cheap $8 for a large candle, but they smell great. You do have to spend your time sifting through things though. I also love their beauty section. Everything from top tier shampoo and conditioner (at an affordable price) to fun and festive soaps. I love the variety of items. It is always the part of the store that is packed. The seasonal items are also very cute. It may be August, but the Halloween stuff is already out for the taking! Overall, you may have to spend some time going through things on shelves, but it is worth it. Always some cute finds! read more

I love TJ Maxx. Living in Southside the shopping is pretty slim pickings unless you want to spend an arm and a leg at the Summit. This TJ Maxx should be my saving grace. Unfortunately it's not the best one I've been to. It always looks and is picked over. It's like they just had a sale and need to restock. If I do end up finding something And make it to check out the people at the register are always so nice and bubbly. Great service! read more

The only reason I'm just giving it an A-OK since they have some of the nicest staff (and clean restroom's) is that the shoe, purse and clothing selection seems to not be as wonderful as it used to be. Or if I do find a purse, the price is just as much as it is in the regular retail store. So why buy it here? Also, turn the AC down some. The store get's so hot I have to leave. read more

I LOVE TJ MAX. I just bought a fabulous Betsy Johnson belt last night for 12.99 and a pair of Armani Exchange sunglasses for $24. A cute pair of Aerie p.j. pants for 3.00 and a dress on clearance for 7! The Tj in Hoover has a few better name brands but this location is right by my house and I can not complain. Selection is not as good as the Hoover store but sometimes you can get lucky and find a treasure here and there! I just got the cutest Tahari gray lounge pants with ruffle trim for $10! I saw the cutest navy Michael Kors rain coat for $30 and would've bought it if I hadn't have scored a navy 7 for all man kind one last year for $15 on clearance! The store is clean and laid out well. You might not find what you went there looking for but you will find some sort of deal! The customer service is also superb! read more

My college aged daughter is home for the summer. She has been feeling self conscious about her college weight gain and the fact that her clothes are tight. She needs dresses for sorority events but doesn't want to buy the larger size. We walked into T J Maxx at Inverness last week for new bedding for her apartment. As we walked through the dresses, one caught her eye. Before we knew it, she was heading to the fitting room with four dresses. As she walked out of the dressing room with the first dress on, a sweet T J Maxx dressing room employee named Rosa Leigh said, "Wow! You look great in that dress." My daughter beamed. She did look great. Each time she tried on the next dress, Rosa Lee commented, "You really have a great shape for a dress." "You look like a million bucks." As we drove away with three of the four dresses, my daughter was glowing. She looked at me and commented, "That lady made me feel really good about myself." I think T J Maxx needs to know what a great employee they have. We will be back. read more
