The membership was advertised for 20.00 when we got there they said it had to be done online.( online didn't say that) we kindly asked to speak to a manager. The very young girl said we can't fix it we have to have a code. So, I proceeded to to fill out the information online, when I got to the payment it was charging 50 dollars so another young lady came over to help....after all this she gave us a membership for 25! Funny how the "manager couldn't help us! They also said they don't offer a military discount but online they say they do. Because we thought ok since we can't get the promotional discount we can just do the military discount one and showed them online the supposed discount and nope they don't do that either! I had to search the entire town for T Shirt bags for my work. It seems like Sam's club are the only store that carries them. So that was an A plus for me. You have to have a member ship to shop there. I was a little bummed over that. But when I met Monique at the membership. She explained to me all the Benefit on getting an upgrade. Well, officially I am a Sam's Club member. I can walk into Sam's Club and buy 20 rolls of toilet paper or a one gallon can of green beans, without having someone with a card accompanying me. I still enjoy this store. Today they didn't have many samples, kind of lame. But they still have good buys on vitamins, Excedrine Migraine and I found Green Coffee Bean Extract for only 19.99. (hey, Dr. Oz said it worked...) it's also worth giving the grocery part of Sam's a quick look. I was looking for Keurig coffee K cups, to which, to my surprise there was only one kind. They sell everything every other Sam's Club sells. I'll probably spend alot more time here now that I am a member. read more

I'm not a member and am glad. I'd be upset if I paid for a membership and received the customer service that I get here. There are plenty of people in need of a job and no reason to be operating like you're understaffed. By being a place to get the COVID shot, it would be a great way to increase membership, but the service makes that a MISSED opportunity. If I were the manager, I'd be upset about this. As a customer, I'll just save my money. The claims about social distancing enforcement are false, even in the pharmacy area. The staff there is overwhelmed period! Acceptable service level of customer service is not reached consistent. There's only one person providing decent care. Such a shame to have the ability to touch so many lives. read more

I have recently seen that in the Independence Sam's Club there are many items that are just not stocked, that are stocked in other Clubs like Liberty and Blue Springs. I contacted the Club manager and was told that it was not a local decision of what to stock but a corporate one. I contacted corporate and received a reply about certain items not being available in Independence club. First I was told they were not in the warehouse. Later after saying that did not explain why the store never stocks them I received a responce that they contacted the Club and was told those items are not stocked. One item , 3lb Crisco was only stocked at Christmas time. All other Clubs carry these items year round but not Independence. I now truely believe it s the local Inventory Manager of either the district or just that store that has made the decision to not stock normal items that other stores stock . I never got a straight answer but I'M TIRED OF BUYING MEMBERSHIPS AND THEN HAVING TO GO TO ANOTHER TOWN BECAUSE MY LOCAL CLUB REFUSES TO CARRY NORMAL ITEMS THAT OTHER STORES STOCK. Too many self checkout lanes and not enough employee ran ones. When spending $200+ with a cart full it is very inconvenient to use self checkout, however if you choose to go to a normal register you will wait 15 to 30 minutes because there is only 4 of them and everyone seems to want to use them (I would venture to say for the same reason I do). Last night 5pm it was very busy and only 3 of the 4 were open. All employees were very helpful especially the ones that helped me load a trampoline that was way to heavy for myself. read more

Absolutely pathetic! The ?doctor? told me my granddaughter needed to be referred to Children's Mercy for a brain scan following her eye exam. We chose instead to have her seen by an eye specialist in Columbia who reported the tests performed by the ?doctor? at Sam's Club were outdated and some should not have been done 3 times during the same visit. read more

I have had the worst experience with this company the last two days. I'm going out of town with little money to my name, and boom 100 $ pops out of my account out of nowhere for the Sams club membership renewal. I called their membership services hotline in order to get the money back into my account and cancel my membership... after being hung up on twice, and waiting over 45 minutes to speak with someone, I finally was told that I would have to call the store I started my membership in. So I call this store...I'm told I have to go into the store to cancel and receive a refund. Now I go into to the store to cancel, to find out that they will not help me due to my wife being the "primary" on the membership account. She is the only one that can cancel....why wasn't I told this on the phone when I originally spoke with them! I've had the worst customer experience so far. Not worth the trouble at all. This company is purposefully making the process of terminating business with them difficult. The auto renewal is a smart business tactic, but annoying to deal with. Optical Customer Service is really bad. They charged me for the full appointment, and then called later to tell me they hadn't finished. They said I had to make a second appointment. I knew I had to come pickup the contacts, but I didn't know they didn't finish what they'd been paid for and I had to take off work again. I was in the electronic department and I was interested in buying a 55 inch flat screen television. I wanted to know the difference between 1080p and 4K. I have no idea what the difference was until Justin Smith, one of the employees I met. Explained in detail the difference. Well, ended up at this Sam's Club mostly because we were bored and unlike the ones in Kansas, this one can sell alcohol. Oddly enough, besides alcohol, there are other nice things about this one. They do have a nice wine selection there. They sell some prepared meals (some you have to reheat) and other items you don't find at many other Sam's Club. We ended up buying some turkey wraps because we didn't want to spend much on lunch and didn't want to eat too much either. Roughly $10 fed 3 of us. This one seems bigger than the one in Overland Park. Down side is the entrance is on one side of the building and parking can only be to the north of the entrance. Probably won't go here too often mainly because its 2 hours away, but if I ever have to throw a serious party and need lots of alcohol, might be worth the trip. read more

This review is for the bakery. I ordered a Chiefs themed baby shower cake for my daughter. I specified how I wanted it done. What I got was a major disappointment. I could have done a better job decorating it. They used cursive writing, and you could barely make out what it said. There didn't seem to be any pride put into the work. It was plain. My sister in law went to Costco for the other cake (big baby shower) and hers looked amazing. They even made a football field with goal posts and a football on it. Better feel then Walmart, Not always cheaper in bulk. The tide I bought there was the exact price as walmart and soda can be found cheaper at supermarket sales. Though for items like Romaine and celery hearts, hummas, and items that you shop for in bulk like paper towels it is usually cheaper. read more
