They have really good customer service here. All the employees knew exactly where everything was done to the "T".

Hy-Vee, I'm torn. I'm giving 5 stars because overall, I'm really pleased with the quality of food,…read morethe pharmacy, the deli, and your grocery staff are just awesome! Where I'm torn is the self check out. I find that the employees don't really trust the customers to know what they are doing. Despite a lack of formal training video session, I can still ring up produce and regular purchases with ease. The problem comes if I slow down to get my app up on my phone, or if I'm slow to get my payment card out of my wallet. The self check out supervisor will be 2 inches from me asking all sorts of irrelevant questions. I'm fine with them stating one time: welcome to Hy-Vee, let me know if I can help! But the micromanaging needs to be curbed. Are you worried about me ringing up oranges instead of apples! Or are just fully assuming that I'm stealing from you? I get it! Times are hard, and you are watching the bottom line, but please understand that we as customers are not walking in to your store for the purpose of stealing! We are people just like you! We want to ring up our groceries and get home. I find the Blue Springs location is the worst for this!!! I actually avoid HyVee if at all possible. Another issue I have is the store layout right near the check stands. There's no room! There are tons of displays, stacked food items, and tables with cookies and other bakery items. Again, you might have a plan of all of this, but it makes it hard to get to a checkout lane!

So you're telling me to shop at your store I need to pay a quarter as a deposit because that is…read morewhat a shopping cart equals in cost and then I can return it to get my quarterback? Where am I? Is this a problem where people still shopping carts all the time? Is someone really gonna not steal it because they need their quarter? Hah! Anyways... I came in here because I really wanted to check it out for the first time I've been in one in Lee Summit and the food selection is very low budget, but I thought let's produce section out. I came here to find simple things like onion tomato maybe cilantro? I don't know if I expected that but just a basic staples they didn't exist. They have a lot of small sections of every name brands that I've never heard of and to be honest the prices weren't that much cheaper than going to price chopper and getting the price chopper brand. The prices for no name brands were actually more expensive than the Hy-vee/Price Chopper/Walmart brands. Not worth it when everything is hit or miss...nothing special. But on a positive note, the store is clean, and everything is organized properly. Now, if I really wanted to do shopping here in a generation where people don't even carry cash anymore... How do you expect me to do some shopping without a quarter? I don't know right from the start at this place already irked me. I'm not against holding people accountable, but really this quarter thing that's ridiculous. I walked out. I was looking for a handbasket nothing... There's no simple way to shop here unless you have a quarter. If not, you might as well just say hey I'm not qualified to shop here. I tried to, but I couldn't properly because I had no opportunity to actually shop here. Aldi, I will never be coming back again. You lost my business forever.

Since I live in Raytown (where they have a very nice Hy-Vee) I seldom visit the 40 Highway Hy-Vee…read morestore location, but I am always impressed when I walk in the doors. It seems to be Hy-Vee on steroids as far as size and mass of merchandise choice. However, today, I want to compliment their Salad Bar. DD#1 and I were working out at Planet Fitness and our poor planning allowed both of us to neglect having anything to eat before our session, so we were pretty hungry by the time we walked out the door. It turns out Hy-Vee has a very well stocked Salad Bar. All the fruits and veggies were super fresh and there were an excellent selection of 'add-ons' and at least eight types of salads, such as pea salad, broccoli salad, potato, macaroni as well as several others. Protein sources were plentiful, as well, and included julienned ham, sliced grilled chicken breast, hard boiled eggs and more than one type of shredded cheese as well as red kidney and garbanzo beans. The only minor down side of our experience was that they had neglected to put more dinner size plates out after the lunch rush and, although, another diner pointed that out to a deli employee, no large plates ever appeared during the time we were there. Not a huge problem and I would definitely go to the salad bar again one of these days.
