The lady at the desk helped us immediately and was so helpful and kind. Once we checked out we had a computer that we needed to get out of security and the lady at the check out had it within seconds. The store was so busy but we never waited for any length of time. Deval in customer service was extremely patient and helpful with my membership issue. I'd just gotten my new membership card yesterday, and by today I'd lost it! Trying to resolve the issue today by phone was very frustrating,, with a lot of time on hold. Coming to the store was the best thing to do. After being a Costco member for forever, and just a now-and-then Sam's member, it's a little confusing getting used to Sam's again. One thing I do like better than at Costco is they have signage at the ends of every aisle, so you know what the heck is down that aisle, without having to physically go down EVERY aisle to find any category! But it's going to take me a minute to learn Sam's check out procedures, and they are every inch a "big box" store visually. Although Costco recently adopted Sam's abysmal "no display" clothing system, so all you see are unidentified piles of clothes on table after table, it remains to be seen which company's set up is worse. I was very surprised to learn (after I had already signed up) that Sam's basic membership does NOT include access to any benefit like "member pricing" or discounts in their vision, hearing, and pharmacy departments. (5th review of 2022) I usually order online pick up on my app, but recently my app isn't letting me check out. So I have to finalize my order on my computer, which is a little inconvenient. The techs are looking into it, but this issue has been goin on for over a month now. It's no biggie, but like I said, it's a little inconvenient. They do have quite a bit of things that Costco doesn't. I jus wish they had more organic items like Costco. I jus don't like bothering with the craziness of the Costco parking & inside. If Costco actually had the online/app ordering like Sam's I think they'd bank & they would have less craziness inside & out. More for Sam's I guess. This store is quick with bringing out your online curbside pick up orders. I usually am outta there in about 10 mins. I think the longest I was waiting was about 15-20 mins cause a lot of people were picking up at the same time. The store is easy to find along with the pick up location. The curbside pick up stalls are on the right side when facing the front of the store. It's right in front of the exit with about 10+/- stalls. Usually if you order first thing in the morning you can schedule pick up that same afternoon. Or you can schedule about 1-2 days in advance. The only problem is if they have limited stock when you order & you schedule pick up 1-2 days later, they might not have the item when they go to pull your order. They don't pull your order until a few hours before your scheduled pick up time. So far I haven't had a huge problem with that... crossin fingers... knock on wood. If for some reason you crave inconvenience, this is the perfect store for you. From parking, assistance in aisles, waiting 20 minutes in the food court line with 4 people ahead of you, all the way down to exiting the store and waiting on 1 person to check 5-10 customer receipts. BUT, if you really, really want to ruin your day, try returning literally anything. You may as well take some PTO for that process. The ONLY reason I haven't left Sam's for Costco is because of the cheap gas. I try to avoid entering the store at all costs and I'm more than likely 1-2 visits away from cancelling regardless. At this point, I would definitely pay higher prices for an experience I don't hate with my entire being. read more

Lenexa, KS store: The last (3) pick up orders I placed have been running 90 minutes behind. Notifications regarding delays are not provided to customers to allow us to plan around the delays. Yesterday, I scheduled a pick up between 6 PM - 7 PM. By 7:30 PM, it appeared pulling my order had not started. I went to the store and spoke with customer service. I was advised I could go through the store to shop for my items and then see a clerk in the pick up staging area for the items to be scanned. After finding all but 2 items of 21, I spoke with one of the pick up team members and was informed they had 15 of the items already pulled and scanned. He took, out of my cart, the items not yet pulled and proceeded to complete my order with his handheld device. His help was greatly appreciated, but there are many inefficiencies with Sam's system: 1) Alert customers if there are delays. 2) Add team members. I would consider a customer having 3 pick up orders delayed 90 minutes or more as critical. 3) Keep the app updated to provide to customers status of orders. Returned a pack of 6(six) Oral-B Glide dental floss after reading two articles from USA Today and Consumer's Lab referencing the PFA's the 'Glide' floss have. This is a great Sam's Club location. I was in town for the weekend and needed a few items, I visited this Sam's Club and was surprised how large this location was. They had everything I needed but it's more crowded than my local Sam's Club. The staff was very friendly and the store as well laid out considering the size. We were super excited when we walked in that it wasn't busy this morning) (7/18/21). We were able to stroll through with no cart banging etc and bought a few items and went to check out. Got through that then came the rocket scientist that scans you receipt and something to confirm it matches up. 15 rows merging to a CENTER exit. There was no person from left goes then someone from the right it was a mass S/S. The man with the wand would scan an item from a cart with 50 items and then when we got up to the rocket scientist-he decides he needs to scan all the items we were hand carrying. My said this is so disorganized and he kept scanning, so I said this was a sh:t show which he replied "really". I said yes if you can't see the problem here-you shouldn't be working the exit holding up everyone. Not returning to this location. read more

I've applied for the same position here twice a year apart did the application and their 15 minute survey each time I showed up prepared to be interviewed and they tell me the position isn't available I understand they probably filled it but BOTH times they could have had the decency to reach out and cancel the interview or maybe ask if I wanted a different position instead of me wasting my time and gas to get there The second interview was just supposed to be a free for all job fair interview but they actually reached out personally to have me come in and sit down for a more personal interview vs the job fair they were holding and still ! This is about pickup orders. I pay a $100 fee per year for free shipping and pickup. What is the point of you scheduling when you want to pick I if yo have to wait almost 2 hours to get your order. This is specific to the pickup order service offered here. I have used this service 10 times at least. Every. Single. Time. It takes 30-50 minutes to get literally 5 items. It is unreal how slow it is.I could go inside and buy those items 50 times over by the time the items come outside to me. I have no idea why this takes so long. I may be ignorant to how these things work on the inside. Either way, 30-50 minutes for 5 items is unacceptable. The workers are generally nice so no complaints there. Went in and got my groceries perfectly fine. went to the cafe to get the pizza combo the line wasn't long at all thought it would be quick. i ended up waiting 50 minutes in line, while waiting i heard the manager go on her walkie and just say they needed someone else over there and just walked off, obviously she didn't care enough to actually get someone over there or else i wouldn't have waiting for as long as i did. The lady taking orders constantly rolled her eyes at multiple people while they were ordering and then the workers stopped everything they were doing to pick up their grub hub order. Sam's? Costco? I got a deal for a free membership or wouldn't have one at all. Bulk shopping does not work for the single person with the exception of toilet paper and that isn't worth the membership alone. I guess I could build furniture off bulk purchases that will last me five years, but I am over 30 so it is expected that I have real furniture now. Darn you social norms! There are pros and cons to any bulk big box store. Sam's seems more hectic to me which can be annoying. Sam's has a gas discount for members which is a huge plus. Most of the food items won't appeal to me because I generally shop just fresh for food and don't need a 500 count box of taquitos. Things like olive oil, and large quantity spices that I use a lot are a bonus. The rare big ticket item replacing will be a plus. Tires are a plus. I need to check out the liquor.. never mind it's Kansas. Overall, if the membership wasn't free I would never go here. Actual visits will be rare with the exception of stopping when I am cruising by on the interstate into the city to fill up on gas and save a buck a fill. read more

If you've ever been in a Sam's Club, then you'll understand if I say it looks pretty much just like all the others. There is a huge selection of stuff you can buy in bulk. Useful things like toilet paper and toothpaste... and then, of course, you can also buy a lifetime supply of cheese balls or chocolate almonds, if you so desire. Today I stopped to get a pallet of flooring with my trailer. Both the associate in the front and the gentleman that helped me load it were extremely helpful. The associate that helped me load over 2000 lbs of flooring was extremely cheerful. My only complaint was when I tried to tip him he said it was against their policy and he couldn't take it. Do not use the pharmacy here unless you want to wait in line once to pay and then again for double the time after you pay for the pharmacist to "bag" your prescription that they had multiple days to do so already, not to mention they pull it out of a bag to scan when u pay. This Sam's Club was the first Sam's Club in the area, over 20+ years ago. Back then it used to be for businesses only. Now, it's public and a lot more down-to-earth. 9 times out of 10 when you go to this store, you will get good service. There is going to be a time when you go in and you feel like the service is crap, it happens. But, overall the people at the store are proud to help customers. I always tell people treat them like you want to be treated and you'll be surprised. We all have has bad days. * The optical department--they all know their stuff and have very good prices for glasses and frames. * The customer service--is very helpful, but at the same time gets busy because they make sure that each customer is taken care of. * The photo department--has a lot to offer. * The pharmacy-- all the people know their stuff. This is the Pharmacy I always suggest using because prices are good and service is great. Plus, the pharmacist really know their stuff, which is very helpful. Especially when you're using a new medication you don't know nothing about. * The little snack area--is good to visit when you have kids with you. Get a hot dog with a drink or slice of pizza and a drink at a very reasonable price. Kids like it, parents like the prices and so do I. * The bakery department--makes some good cakes. Plus if you have something special you want to put on the cake they can do it...most of the time. * The food department, clothing section or other parts of the store have most other things you need or use. If you can't find it, they'll help you, just ask. When you check out--you can go to these check register and do it yourself or have the cashier do it, especially if you have a whole lot in the cart. Now, you can make an order online and pick it up and not have to shop for the items needed. This alone can save you you time. I get gas at this Sam's Club and I've had no issues, plus Car Wash does a pretty good job for $6. If you're wondering do I work for Sam's no I don't. I just say it like it is and this Sam's Club does offer a lot for its club members. read more

Highest sales tax of any Sam's club I have ever been to... however, I do like the layout of this store. There is just something familiar about it. Oh, I have a tip for you... you like those peanut butter filled pretzels or that big tub of cheesy balls? It's not with the other snacks -- it's hidden in the corner of the freezer section. Shhh! When I do Click and Pull with these guys, you don't have to wait for someone to retrieve your big cart of crap. They have it accessible to the public just past the snack area. Speaking of snacks... you can get a Nathan's Hotdog and a large drink for a 1.50! I'm sure it's the same at all of them, but this is the only Sam's food area I have tried. Yeah, so I notice that 135th and Metcalf is always changing their aisles around... don't care for it. I want to feel secure in large warehouses. This place just seems like it's pretty much the same each time I go in and I appreciate that... I mean Sam's doesn't always carry the same stuff -- please don't make it more difficult by making me question "Is it out of stock or just stocked somewhere else?". I like this Sam's better than the location at the Legends. It has a better layout and the staff seems friendlier. They have some great deals on bathroom tissue and you can usually find what you are looking for easily. Easy in and out and you can use cash at the self check outs! read more

I come to this one often because it's off my life line, I-35. It took forever to finally build a gas station for this Sam's. Once they did I stopped going to the one on 135th. This review is for the gas station, just west of Sam's Club across Monrovia Street. Like Costco, the gas is cheap -- they seem to try to match gas prices in Missouri which are about a dime cheaper than in Kansas (which has higher taxes). They also sell diesel fuel, if you need that. In JoCo this is the only Sam's/Costco that has a car wash! It's a bit cheaper than some others, at $6 for a good, thorough wash. The car wash has two bays -- one is standard, the other is touchless. They're marked, so choose which one you prefer. I've tried both and they both are effective. So if you want to save a little money on gas and a car wash, this is probably your best bet in the area! read more

So what's the point of spending money on a membership when most of what you want is not available. And to cancel my membership I would have to physically go in the store and interact with customer service. That is not what I want to do in this environment of covid. But I guess I will.
