Sam's in Madison Mississippi is a nice wholesale/retail bulk store. A COSTCO competitor, a little smaller than the newer COSTCO. Layout is very similar. Parking is far more challenging than COSTCO but it's plenty workable. They are similar experiences and both require memberships, almost identical in pricing. It just seems like what ever people are used to is where they shop. We like both and are members of both. Sam's is worth it for us and we recommend them. Bulk buying is not always practical so be careful not to overdo it. read more

Great lemon Bundt cake that is already made and on the freezer safe. I now have a new favorite cake after shopping for my mother a birthday cake. Sam's has great service. Great delivery services. The only thing is I have noticed needing improvements are the food court service needs to have extra food on hand for the dinner crowd rather than rudely tell me on different occasions "we only have hot dogs". I understand it closes at 7 pm, but still no excuse to not sell a variety of items at the food court area for the people who get off work at 5 pm and need to shop for groceries. Also, provide more staffing in the member services department. There are quite a few desks for workers to help people, but only one person is working. A lot of times the line makes you think of 5 o'clock traffic with how slow the process is. This Sams used to be nice but wow has it turned into a total dumpster fire. This location seems to attract a certain demographic that has ruined this location. Was tired of finding half eaten open food on the shelves. Plus the gas station was a total nightmare. Nobody works there to stop rude people from cutting in line and entering the wrong way. This is a nice big spacious Sams. Plenty of parking and wide open isles. Nothing like the ones back home. This day on a Sunday. We experienced friendly greeters and checkout staff. It was crowded but this is such a nice Sams, That you just didn't notice. Prices do run about the same, but as always there is marked down price points in certain sections. Seafood/fish looks fresh. Checkouts was uncommonly quick. And a fast trip to the Café on the way out the door for the previously known "Hot Dog Combo" faded away here but, they still serves it...!!! read more

I was recently in the store. It was close to closing time when I entered but the greeter did not make me aware of this. Several rude notifications were made over the intercom. Every customer was rudely rushed to check out. The cashiers were closing their lines down as The customers were trying to finish check out so that made the process slower and slower. And the person that checks the receipt when you leave was also very unfriendly. They definitely can improve their Attitudes, politeness, and customer service. Horrible in every way. I ordered flowers via the sam's website to be delivered to my daughter. Order placed no problem. Was able to pick a deliver time the same day - awesome! Waited a few hours for the delivery window to come around, got a message indicating the flowers were delivered. Woohoo! Wait, no they weren't. No delivery to my daughters residence, or any neighbor, or the mailbox, or the office. None. Called the 800 number to find out I need to talk to the store - the rep on the phone tried calling...no answer. Told me to try to call the following morning. Fine. Called...was told "we don't deliver floral. Well, hold one"...12 minutes later the call disconnects. Called back...no answer. Called 8 times before they answered. Ask to hold...52 minutes later, yes you read that correctly, after 52 minutes I get an answer and disconnected. They hung up on me. Called back, asked for store manager, on hold 12 minutes...call disconnected. Called back, no answer. Called back 5 times....finally answered again. Was Told the store manager stepped out and they could take my name and number and call me back...we'll see, but I doubt it. read more

I've been to this location over the years. I'm very disappointed with my last visit! The greeter at the door ( short black girl wearing glasses) was very rude and completely let every white customer pass through the door without showing membership but when me and my husband (black) walked in we was ask to show our card! I showed her my app card because that's how I usually do my shopping at Sam's and politely asked her why did she not ask the other ppl for their card???!!! I guess she got offended because of the question and told me Sam's doesn't accept app cards! Out of spending thousands here not EBT by the way! I enjoy shopping at Sam's but getting someone on the phone has been extremely difficult. I've been calling yesterday to cancel a pick-up order. I had to speak with someone in Tire and Battery to get someone on the phone from Curbside Pickup. Mr. Jarvis handled took care of it. He had great customer. Hey, it's Sams. Has a gas station that usually has lines at the pumps. A few lucky people who have the gas cap on the passenger side can get in and out fast. Those who have gas caps on driver side (most) will have to wait as the employees will not allow you to pull in the other way, even if lines are there. They are kind of obnoxious about it. Never seen that kind of behavior anywhere else. Thus pumps will have lines for half of them and half of the pumps being unused. The rest of it is pretty much like any other Sams. Interstate highway access is outstanding though. Very easy getting in and out. read more

Just left Sam's where we observed someone in line in front of us check out without paying for a case of drinks and a case of chips. The checker never scanned them. When I questioned him, he looked at me funny & said that he'd done it. I figured the person at the exit would catch the mistakes when customer gave her the receipt but she was too busy visiting with another employee to count items. She didn't count ours either. Everyone pays for theft and this was obvious ! My 1st review was over a year ago and things haven't changed!! Had interactions with 5 employees -- 2 were positive & 3 awful !! When I had a problem at self check-out CSR was rude, when we left store and my husband said something friendly to person at door, she was rude and that "greeter" at entrance never spoke, smiled or acknowledged anyone coming in !! Will drive the extra 2 miles to Pearl Sam's and can't wait until Costco gets finished !(competition is good for everyone!) read more

I needed to purchase passport photos and had great service with the Pearl location. Since they closed the photo department at the Pearl location several years ago, I'm forced to drive to the Madison location. I waited at the photo counter for about 5 minutes. Next to the photo counter was "Customer Service" who did not ask me if I needed anything as he was too busy texting on his phone between people. I had to ask him about if there was anyone to help me, before he told me that there isn't anyone working the photo desk between 1p and 3p. I killed time until 3p and came back. Finally a female showed up and started pulling photos out and did not ask us if we needed help. After asking everyone at "customer service," which seemed to be more interested in talking amongst themselves and eating potato chips, finally told me that there was only one person who knew how to make them! He finally showed up at 3:15 and was apparently the only person who had training in customer service! I finally got my passport photos, but could not place my passport application that day because they had closed 30 minutes prior to my arrival. I will no longer be going to the Madison Sam's Club because of their customer service and can't wait for the opening of the Costco Store in Madison. read more

Will move over to Costco as soon as they open because of the way the morons have their gas station set up. Since gas tank access is primarily on the left you wind up waiting in line for the pumps with left side access while there are virtually no one in the right access lanes. Terrible customer service both times I've had to bring your lawn mower back cause they didn't work ! If anything they should have been super nice because I've had to load this thing up on two different occasions & siphon out the gas , so that cost me money ... The second time I even bought a battery siphoner to save me from having to turn the thing over & still wasn't good enough for your supervisor ! And the second time they made me wait in the return line all over again , ( with a bone spur in my knee that's needing surgery ) I was gonna exchange it out for a third one & decided your ppl weren't worth the hassle & aggravation I took my business elsewhere & got refunded ! To think I let my mom talk me into your membership is a shame unless I'm @ her store down in petal MS ... Cause you should be embarrassed up to your supervisor in Pearl , corporate you need to get into Pearl & clean some house ! I've been in customer service for 30+ years & would never treat someone so condescending & have them pay a membership fee to boot .... read more

I give this location two stars. One for the location and the other for the interior. It has a good selection and looks pleasing on the inside but horrible staff. You can guess their ethnicity but just know it is the slowest and laziest you have ever been served. It makes molasses look fast. It makes a sloth look like it is moving at light speed. The staff is practically moving backwards! If you want to check out in under 30 minutes you have to use the self check out... Now I will say the browsing and sampling experience was nice, but a lot of the items I was looking for was out of stock... There were empty shelves everywhere! This place was losing money by not stocking or not ordering! Now I went on Election Day, November 8 around 5pm. You figure you could quickly get a hot dog and a drink right? Well wrong. I had one person in front of me who ordered a sole hot dog and it almost made the concession worker almost have a mental breakdown. I knew my order would be too complicated so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I ordered a HOT DOG COMBO AND A CINNAMON PRETZEL. Nothing to fancy mind you, just a nice simple order. I could literally see the circuits frying in this employees head. It was brutal to watch. It took about 10 minutes to receive this order because the pace of the worker was snail. I finally receive my order and my hot dog is extremely old and I went to get mustard and they are out of mustard! And guess what? Out of straws for me drink! No cherry coke, what's new? But I could forgive all of this if I had a half decent pretzel. MY PRETZEL WAS BLACK. yes black. And they just threw on some sugar, butter, and cinnamon. It was disgusting. How do you mess up a pretzel? The world may never know!!! But it happened. Somehow it happened. I would say go to this SAMs if you have a few hours to kill because it will take that long to simply shop. It is a painful experience which will test the very fabric of your being. It makes driving in stand-still traffic fun. Overall it's not a bad location Justs needs some work ethic and some know how and could really be something great. read more
