What a great outdoor store. Great products in stock and So helpful. Even put our kayak rack on for us and showed us how to do it.

I was surprised to see another Sam's Outdoor Outfitter's as I thought the one in Brattleboro was the only location (no mention that I've noticed in that store of another branch). The lay-out of this location is much easier to navigate than the downtown Brattleboro location. I was a bit disappointed that the women's section was not as interesting as the men's section. I love their t-shirts but you just don't have that same selection from the women. Prices are pretty steep on many of the items (try to grab from the discount racks if you're on a budget). We've bought several clothing items now and the quality is very good so it's worth spending extra. Staff is not that friendly or helpful which is a negative. Plenty of parking and a great place to browse as they have many interesting displays. read more

Be warned, this a clothing / shoe store with yes some outdoor products. However, if you're into fishing or hunting whom this store seems to cater to, don't bother go there. I looked at their website and decided to drive an hour to visit them only to walk out empty handed. it's an outdoor novelty store at best. read more

I'm a fan of Sam's for almost all practical/technical outdoor/adventure needs. The store is packed. The sales are good. The variety is superb. The staff is generous with time and knowledge. And the experience is laid back and non pretentious. Mind you, this isn't a shishi sports outfitter with $600+ dollar Arcterex ski jackets, Helly Hanson snow pants, or Patagonia bags or accessories. The emphasis is on pragmatism and value. Smartwool socks? Can't get em cheaper. Replacement shoelaces for hiking for workboots? best selection around. Need lady-fit Carhartts in a variety of colors and linings? look no further. Need to stock up on practical outdoor gear like handwarmers, fleece neckwarmers, gloves/mittens for shoveling, or warm/hardy winter boots to survive the next storm? Sam's has you covered. Thinking of investing in a kayak? Sam's selection is huge and NH taxes are favorable. Need the sporting basics like basketballs, baseball bats, shin pads, or bathing suits? Sam's Sam's Sam's. There's plenty of fancy brands/fashionista stuff, too: for winter think Pendleton sweaters, Smartwool long underwear, Smith/Giro helmets, Merrell/Sorrel/Keen/Kamik boots... Naturally Sam's doesn't have EVERYTHING... but I always check here first before looking online for the general stuff. For super specific technical what not, like ultralight hiking poles or tents or Euro brands, look elsewhere. read more

I visited Sam's looking for one specific item. The staff person at the register by the entrance gave me clear directions to where I could find what I was looking for. They had a wide variety of options and I had trouble making up my mind. The checkout process was quick and friendly. I actually went back for more!! read more

I made a purchase of a roof rack for my car so I could transport my kayak. The young man that helped me was well informed and very helpful. He and a fellow employee actually installed it and showed me how to strap down the kayak!!!! read more

The service was horrible. You can get better service at Walmart. Stopped by Sam's to buy sandals, the store was quite. More staff than customers. There were two employees in the footwear department that were too busy chatting amongst themselves to help customers. When asked about sandals one of them pointed and said they are over there. I found sandals that I may have purchased but was so unhappy with the lack of service I chose not to spend my money at this business. The management should shop at Teds Shoe & Sport to learn how to provide good service. I will never go back to Sam's and advise all to not waste there time. read more

For some reason I thought this was like a discount second hand location but looking at the prices quickly I realized that they were not. The popcorn by the changing room is a nice touch. I wasn't really a fan of the prices at all or the selection but maybe the camo and pink under armour sweats was not my style. read more

I remember my parents taking me shopping at the Vermont store back in the '60's. I got one of my first fishing poles there. This is one of the few stores in the area which carries some big and tall size mens clothes. Service is pretty good. They recently renovated the store and they have the place PACKED with almost everything one would want from an outdoors goods store. I've been coming here for years and love the place !l Update: August 28, 2016 I had bought my son a pair of steel toe boots for a job which unfortunately for him fell through. So I returned them today. No hassles at all, received a full credit refund on the card I bought them on. Yes, the receipt stated "Store credit only for sale items returned." But the boots weren't on sale at the time of purchase. Great proudcts. Great people. Great store. read more

Watch your receipt for errors. This was not a quick decision to give a poor review. I used to enjoy shopping here. The products are good quality and the staff used to be friendly and helpful. Lately, all of the staff seem withdrawn. On top of that, two of my last three visits have resulted in pricing errors. I am all about a good sale and check my receipt before leaving. Whom ever is putting sale prices into the system needs training. This visit was a $5 up charge; last one was $12. Small amounts but they add up if it happens often. read more

I just want everyone to know that Sam's has a new policy they don't tell you about - if you return an undamged item without your receipt, they give you store credit MINUS 20 PERCENT OF TOTAL COST! What outrages me about this most is they don't tell you , they don't post it, and they don't have it written on any of the Return Policy signs in their store. Supposedly, it is written in small print on your receipt, but how would you know? - you lost the receipt!! They argue that "this is their policy" and "has been, for quite a while" - it's a policy to lose good customers and make the remaining ones extremely unhappy. What a rotten way to do business. Sam's has changed for the worse, and this is the icing on that cake!!! read more

Went in for Women's Carhart lined pants (one of the few places that carries them). They had 4 pairs and they were on sale. Luckily they had a pair in my size so that made me happy. I started looking at other items in the women's section with the intention of getting a few more things. A sales person came over to me with a vacuum and switched it on next to me. I figured they must be closing soon so I sped up my browsing. She followed me with the vacuum through the entire women's department. I got the hint so I went to the register. Both women at the counter looked miserable. No hello and no thank you when I finished. I figured they must be closing up and just wanted to get out of there (been there myself). I took a look at the hours sign on my way out...they didn't close for another 2 hours. I would have bought more if they didn't push me out the door with a vacuum. read more

I love this store! Stopped by with the family on our way for an overnight hike to buy a new Camelbak (kids wrecked the last one, it happens). This store is surprisingly bigger on the inside - it has everything you need, plus clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and FREE popcorn. I highly recommend it, I had such a great experience I downloaded Yelp just to review it. read more
