Had brunch at Sam's yesterday with two girlfriends. The food was excellent, the service was very slow. If you are in no hurry, then all is good, provided you are not waiting for a table. The fried potatoes are awesome! The "Matts favorite" was also excellent (potatoes, sausage, pineapple and fried eggs). I don't know that I would have liked the shirred eggs, but my friend said they were good. The French toast was made with sliced up cinnamon rolls, and looked like a flat version of monkey bread. They also had just plain eggs, meat and toast for $8. The baked goods have been good in the past, we didn't sample more than a quarter of a snicker doodle (good!) this visit. read more

Sam's Station is in a former gas station. Unlike your typical coffee shop, you get seated by your server. There's artwork, so it's slightly artsy... not as artsy as New Morning Bakery or Interzone. It's really a hit or miss with this cute brunch/lunch joint. The first time I've ever been here, I was really impressed with their pan fried yukon gold potatoes, huge cinnamon rolls, and their hobo hash. Service gets slower and slower as more people are seated and they get backed up in the kitchen. For example today, the waiter forgot about our coffees and I had to remind her ~25 minutes after she took our order. Service is always really nice though. I'm a huge fan of their muffins and their espresso drinks, I recommend the early riser or Mary's peak! They took the hobo hash off the menu sadly and added in more omelets and shirred eggs. I had the Eastern Oregon shirred eggs today and they're baked eggs in cream with veggies. I wish the egg wasn't so cooked because I like to dip my toast in the yolk. read more

It took 15 minutes for us to get menus and another 30 minutes to wait for our food. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because it did seem busy (around 11am), but it didn't seem like there was any organization and servers were running around in different directions. Seemed kind of like we were being ignored while all of the people who came AFTER us got their food within like 15 minutes of being there. I think the staff noticed I seemed annoyed and it wasn't until then that we got an update on our food coming. I ordered the Matt's Favorite (?) and unfortunately, it was not my favorite. I basically waited 30 minutes for unseasoned mashed potatoes with pineapple and green onions. It was interesting, but not good. It made me sad. I wanted to like this place, I really did. But I will not be returning. The peanut butter cookie I got with my check wasn't bad though. However, that doesn't excuse the over all flavourlessness of this place. Bland. First impressions were great - display case full of pastries, bags of coffee, and rustic tables and chairs have a very cute vibe. We had to share a table with another pair of customers because they have so few but that was fine. However, this is where the pleasantries end. We sat down and didn't get menus for 10 minutes, and an HOUR after we ordered we asked where our food was only for them to say it would be another 20 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. When our food did come the "toast" was about as brown as a red haired Irishman, which they didn't re toast but rather gave us a different, just as pale piece. The shirred eggs with broccoli and bacon were good but I wouldn't say any better than a broccoli bacon omelette. The Mediterranean omelette was very tasty so the food itself wasn't the problem, only the service. They did also give us the omelette for free, and gave us some chocolate chip cookies to make up for it. Overall I would recommend it if you have 2 hours to spend on breakfast. read more

I am feeling so sorry for fellow reviewers who missed the attentive, but not intrusive, service I had along with my great meal at Sam's. In fact, they seemed a bit over-staffed as two different people kept our cups of on-site roasted coffee full. Yelp works?! The bright, inviting place (with a stunning display of fabric art on my visit) and ambitious menu make it a hidden gem. Just don't bring a big vehicle; the parking lot can be a bit of a jigsaw puzzle! My mother, a gourmand-y world traveler proclaimed the shirred eggs (yeah, who offers those anywhere??) the best she's ever had. Consider the to-die for baked goods (not that I had room after my eggs and Yukon Gold poatoes). We have been a couple of times and each time we have seen the manager berate staff. Today we thought we would check and see if they had seating available. The manager was abrasive and rude as soon as we stepped in the door. We ended up leaving without being seated, headed over the bridge to Brick & Mortar and had a wonderful breakfast with great service. Worth the trip to not support a hostile business! read more

This was my second disastrous attempt eating at this restaurant. Both times the service has been horrible, the first time it was two hours before I got out of there, this morning I was there an hour and a half before we got served. Five out of six order were wrong, coffee had to be asked for multiple times, just overall really bad experience. To add insult to injury the bill was also wrong . To be fair, the food is pretty good, but it's extremely loud and the service is so poor it's just not experience I would repeat. read more

There use to be, for me, only Wise Cracks in Corvallis where a couple get a good breakfast at 12:30pm. But now, I have discovered a new Brunch joint that is way better. Sam's Station offers thought out and unique breakfast items. I ordered the Central Oregon Shirred Eggs and it is amazing. It reminds me of waking up Sunday morning and smelling my grandma cooking sauce and meatballs. This is my new go to place for my breakfast cravings and Sunday brunches with my hubby. read more

I was here for lunch last week, the place gets pretty busy, so service slows down a little with tending to all the tables/customers and noise level can get a little high. The service was good and attentive though. I had half turkey sandwich and cup of clam chowder. I really liked the turkey sandwich, but wasn't a big fan of the clam chowder, I prefer a thicker chowder and with less bacon, just a personal preference. I like the establishment itself, with a lot of natural light coming thru, clean, and attentive service and a great turkey sandwich that hit the spot. I would definitely come back! read more

My eggs were not cooked. They were raw. I was actually concerned that I ate them. We waited 30 minutes for every item we requested. 26 MINUTES FOR WATER. I waited to politely express my concern about my raw eggs but no one came over for another thirty minutes so we ended up just throwing cash on the table and leaving and no one noticed. LOL! I'm positive that this place has the weirdest servers on the planet. The greeting consisted of a confused-sounding "May I help you?", and the waitress brought my cinnamon roll cold and still wrapped in plastic. She seemed baffled when I asked her to take off the plastic and warm it up, and even more astonished when I gave her a 10 for an 8 buck breakfast. I really like this place. It's my mom and I's place to go when we meet up for lunch. The coffee is so good and I've had turkey sandwich with the soup of the day which hits the spot. The candy bacon was on the slimy side and I do wish they had more selection of lunch items but other then that I will eat here whenever I get a chance. Service is top notch also! read more

I would have to say, if you catch them on a good day it is probably the best breakfast in town (that I've tried). However, they do get a little hectic on the weekends and the service can lapse. Great coffee. I really like their Cafe Au Lait. Yummy pastries & muffins (morning glory is my favorite if they have it). Nice sized portions and tasty food. Went here for lunch. Its a nice cozy place and the food was good. Service was friendly but a bit slow and inattentive.

We are in town for a baseball tournament and found this place through the suggestion of our B & B owner. Very cute, friendly place with a nice and varied breakfast menu. I had the spinach scramble and my husband had the oatmeal. Spinach scramble was a beautiful presentation and a nice variation on traditional scrambled eggs. My husband's oatmeal was hot, fresh, homemade and with a nice variety of toppings. The reason for the 3 instead of four was the service, though extremely friendly, was slow. We ordered water and coffee and I had a latte. 5-7 minutes later I had my latte but my husband waited till we had our water and then came out his drip coffee. Same wait for a refill. Also, my husband is a big pancake fan and though they offer a dutch baby type of pancake there is no traditional types on the menu. read more

While the eggs are quite good - although not at the level of Broken Yoke - this place tends to cater to the retired community, because you have to be retired and without kids to care for if you plan to endure the hours-long wait for food even on empty days. I have lived in Corvallis for 20 years and I came every few years to see if the service has improved - nope. If you are meeting a long lost friend and want to spend a few hours catching up, this is great. Otherwise, there are better options. read more

My waitress was so sweet and very on top of my needs. She gets an A+ on her interpersonal skills. It didn't hurt that she got my order right AND that it was FABULOUS.
