Farmers market mornings and brunch this good? Tough combo to beat in Corvallis. After strolling through the Corvallis farmers market on a sunny Saturday morning, we popped into Odd Bird Café for brunch and completely understood why the place was packed. We grabbed a patio table instead of waiting inside and really enjoyed the atmosphere, though the QR code ordering system made things a little tough when trying to grab extra coffee, water, or ask questions without a server around. The Birdy Mary was solid but landed around a 6/10 for me, missing some of the spice and depth I personally like in a great Bloody Mary, but the hot drip coffee absolutely hit the spot. The food, though, was outstanding. My wife and I split the BLT with crispy bacon and avocado spread, paired with potatoes that were somehow crispy, soft, and packed with flavor all at the same time. Our daughter and son-in-law ordered the "I'm the Good Kind of Fat" special with house-smoked salmon, poached egg, arugula, and avocado on sourdough, and every bite looked better than the last. The food never disappoints at Odd Bird - this weekend was no less. i ordered the bloody mary on second thought and boy was i not dissapointed - a good bloody mary does not overwhelm everything has to be just the right balance and they nailed it, also floating on top fermented pickles ( it's good for your health) The biscuits and gravy was all about the perfect biscuits to go with the gravy, just crumbly enough but not too much . Inconsistent. My family was excited to return to Oddbirds after an initial positive experience, but we all agreed that we had a disappointing second visit. Was excited about the shrimp Benedict which included local bay shrimp, but were served a gummy shrimp cake. The chicken and pancakes had overcooked, dry, burnt fried chicken. The chia bowl with fruit was our best order, but incorporated some sour fruit. The front of house staff were friendly and very thoughtful. I ate the same breakfast (basic 2 egg + meat + breakfast potatoes) 3 days in a row at 3 different restaurants while visiting Corvallis. This one was probably my favorite (if not tied with the Dizzy Hen in Philomath). The breakfast potatoes really stole the show- super crispy and delicious. Food was provactive in description but all of it arrived lukewarm, which lost a star for me. Stand out dish was the homemade pop tart, and the mouth watering whipped cream it was served with. It made me chuckle when my family called it our "breakfast appetizer" - as the eight of us shared that single tart! Most of our dishes were colorful, and pleasing to the eye, except for the lentil patty plate, which appeared to be clinically sad, when compared to the array of color and festive plating of the other dishes. The salmon hash plate tasted exactly as described, and was delicious but I'd prefer a salmon benedict for a similar flavor and prettier plating. My eggs benedict was a little skimpy on the Hollandaise but was very yummy. Fried chicken sando was a bit burned. Our service was very well-done. The environment was beautiful, and so interesting to be inside a former horse paddock - maybe? It was the only brunch game open on a Sunday, and it is situated next to a river walk, so a meal here would be a nice Sunday morning treat and visit. Parking is free on Sundays! I came here on a Sunday morning around 11:15 am and we were seated closer to 12 so there was a bit of a wait but honestly it was worth it. My boyfriend got the French toast (17$) and he loved it despite being a picky eater. It was delicious and such a large portion. The whip cream on top was soo good. Probably the best I have ever had. The eggs and biscuit were also very good and perfectly cooked. Our server was very friendly and accommodating and the food came out quickly. Everyone was very nice here. Prices weren't bad either. Coffee was great too (4.50$). Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here for brunch and if there is a line stick it out because the wait is worth it. read more

Decided to try this place out before leaving town. It has a very homey feel to it as you walk in and the food all looks pretty. The server was friendly and prompt, but for the food looking good it just did not deliver on the taste. There were a total of 6 of us and out of 5 of us that ordered some sort of egg dish(4 of them being poached eggs), not one was cooked correctly. All were overcooked. One of the people even ordered over easy eggs which were also over hard. The bloody Mary's looked delicious but deliver no flavor. My wife's smoked salmon hash was VERY fishy. I love seafood and it was even too fishy for me. The Shrimp Benedict was ok, I feel like the whole flavor profile would have changed it the eggs were runny, but it just turned out to be all around dry. The one bright spot, we ordered the tropical bowl and that alone was very delicious..that and the ice-t. Waiter wasn't very pleasant, we ordered our food and took well over 45 minutes. We were with family so didn't mind minus the fact we were trying to head out relatively quickly. Odd Bird. You are odd. Cute cafe that primarily serves breakfast-y options. Their lunch options are more limited. My friend and I shared the odd burger and fried chicken sandwich. Both were good and they came with their home fries. The home fries were nicely crisp on the outside and tender and potato-y on the inside and well seasoned. No complaints about the food. Everything was tasty enough. Unfortunately, the service bothered me a bit. I was mid bite, burger in hand, when our waiter came with the terminal for us to pay our bill. I WAS MID BITE!! He didn't even attempt to come back, just stood expectantly while I put my burger down, wiped my hands, and took out my wallet. I was flabbergasted. What a fun addition to downtown Corvallis! There are some other breakfast/brunch options in town (Wise Cracks, Bohdi, New Morning, RIP Shari's), but Odd Bird elevates your standard Eggs Benedict to new levels. My kids are big fans of the French toast, and I'm partial to the BLT. Other standouts are the burger and fried chicken sandwich. The restaurant took over a previous restaurant's space (formerly Big River), and they obviously haven't invested in much renovation. The result is the appearance of a half-finished restaurant, which is a wild ambiance, but I don't think it detracts from the experience. Service tends to be friendly but slow, so prepare to hang out a while. Prices are on the high side (I always grit my teeth a bit at the price of a cup of drip coffee), but I've still gone back more than a few times for delicious breakfast with panache. read more

Came in today to the beautiful odd bird cafe, I was hungry for lunch to go because I have a dog I wanted to walk at the parked I was quickly greeted, and order and cold brew coffee, and the fried chicken sandwich with home fries. The coffee was made right away so I could go on my walk then they texted me when my food was ready! we wanted to really like Odd Bird Cafe as we've tried multiple times to come here and it's typically packed. you can smell bacon wafting throughout the restaurant. The restaurant was probably 50% full on Sunday morning, though it took a while to be acknowledged and seated. The menu is well laid out with sweets, savory and sides. The food all looked delicious. The special chicken with hoecakes was tasty. It's a chicken breast vs thigh, though it was still juicy with a crunchy exterior. The hoecakes was basically cornbread flattened. It was generous portions, though could probably have used more butter and syrup for us to spread/pour as we went (vs coming already buttered with syrup). The standard breakfast of 2 eggs and a meat side was good/standard. The homemade sausage patty is nice and the biscuit was great! I wish it came with jam or that there was jam on the table. The avocado toast is pretty small. The reason for the 3 stars is that the food was ready for quite some time as we can see it where we were sitting, but took about 10 minutes before it was brought out. The avocado toast was cold and when it's whole grain bread, it gets pretty tough to bite through. The dishes were at best warm. Slight bummer and more understandable if it was packed. read more

My daughter and I came to Corvallis (from Texas) for a college visit. I was not expecting to find such a diverse food scene here. This place was really top notch. Fantastic friendly service, very casual cool atmosphere, amazing food. Both of us were thrilled with what we ordered--she had the chicken with hoe cakes (not misspelled, actual name) and I had the Heart Stopper. Both were really good. Our server talked to us about what she likes about Corvallis (I asked) and gave us some recommendations for local things to do. Highly recommend this place.
