We used to love Bcycle, then one day me and my husband and daughter rented bikes. We noticed during the ride that my husband's brakes were extremely loud and squealing. We were going to take it back to get another bike. As we were coming around a corner his back tire (was bald but we didn't know) fishtailed from under him and his head slammed into the ground. Long story short he was severely injured. EMS was called, and they pointed out the bald tire. BCYCLE DID NOT CARE, Then they lied and said that the tire was new and had been replaced two week prior. Even tho I had video evidence of the tire. These bikes are not maintenance regularly and we know cause we used to ride often and kinda knew some bikes had bad brakes. I absolutely hate them now, my husband suffered a concussion and bruises everywhere. read more

I owe a review to San Antonio B Cycle! I have their annual membership I won at Yelp bike bingo! I first heard about B Cycle when I visited Denver a few years ago but didn't get to use it there. Regardless, I thought the bike sharing program was super cool. I am no stranger to bicycles. I am originally from Beijing, perhaps the bike city of the world? I started riding a bike to school since 6 grade, haha! Still remember my very first cute little bike, it is green! Fast forward to 2013, I moved to SA and noticed these red bikes around downtown. Ah ha, SA has B Cycle too! When I heard about the Yelp bike bingo event, I jumped at it. I had not ridden a bike for ages and missed it so much! For $10, I got to ride the bike for 24 hrs. Not bad! I bought a 24 hr pass for the event and had a ton of fun. It was my first time doing a bike pub run!!! I didn't think it could get any better but then I won a B Cycle annual membership! Now I a proud owner of a B card! Since getting my membership, I rode the bike for a number of times. I participated in B Cycle's Tour de B Cycle challenge with a friend. We rode the bike in the extreme Texas heat in July for more than 11 hours in one day to finish all of their 32 northern stations. It was very hard but we finished it and won B Cycle T-shirts! I also participated in the Something Monday bike rides hosted by the rivard report. It was very cool as well. Now on to the bikes, they are well maintained and fully equipped with lights and a bell. The check out system is super easy to use. Just tap your B card if you have an annual membership. Otherwise you have to use the kiosk. I never had any problem when riding their bike. If you have an annual membership, you get an hour to ride from point A to point B without being charged for overtime. Otherwise, it is 30 minutes. Their stations cover major attractions and cool restaurants. It is a great way to explore and see the city. They are constantly adding new stations and have extended the hours to 24/7 I believe. So you can go bar hopping on a bike at 3am if you'd like, just saying! But you probably would not be able to pick up any girls with your bike, haha! I love the fact that they are so convenient, when you don't need them they will disappear. Now the drawbacks. Some stations aren't very bike friendly. I remember riding at places with no bike lanes, it was pretty scary. Hopefully this city can become more pedestrian and bike friendly. Some popular locations such as the blue star is always full. Adding more slots to these stations would be very helpful. Sometimes it is challenging to ride between two stations under 30 minutes, especially in the river walk area. There are always so many people there, it is impossible to ride your bike sometimes. I like the fact that B Cycle is very involved with the community and healthy living styles. They always host great events. You can find out the events on their social networking sites and in the e-newsletters they send out. You can also log on to their website to see miles ridden, calories burned and carbon offset. If you are skeptical, get the 24 hr membership for 10 bucks. Give B Cycle a try and see for yourself. 1) We love riding bikes. 2) We recently visited San Antonio for a long weekend. 3) San Antonio has a LOT of paved bike paths/trails plus bike lanes downtown. 4) Bikes do not travel well as airplane carry-ons. Therefore, It only made sense that we rent bikes during our visit. We first saw a similar bike rental system in Montreal a couple of years ago. We were thoroughly confused by the process, though, so we passed and just took a bus tour. This time in San Antonio, though, we were determined because we wanted to ride on the Mission Trail along the river. We read all of the instructions thoroughly, downloaded the free iPhone app, inserted our credit card, and hoped for the best. We couldn't see how to rent two bikes with one credit card, so we had to split up our purchases. I'm still not sure it's possible since you have to use your credit card to identify yourself each time you want to take out a bike using the 24-hour pass. Anyway, the most challenging part of the experience was planning out the trip. Could we make it to the next bike rental return/pick-up before the 30 minutes is up...or should we exchange bikes now and restart the clock? Turns out, we didn't have any problems during our experience. There were always bike docks available for us to return our bike within the time limit and/or bikes for us to take away. Plus, there were plenty of stations along the Mission Trail that we didn't have to stop at each one. After a couple of returns (and a bike with sticky handlebars), we realized we could "return" a bike that we liked and then just take the same one out again. At the Mission Road stop, we returned our bikes and took a break. Here, there were covered picnic tables, a port-a-potty, a small food place with a walk-up window across the street, and two adorable, well-behaved homeless dogs. (If we lived in San Antonio, I probably would have taken them home.) While we rested, two B-Cycle employees (one young with brown hair and glasses, the other older with gray hair) came along in a truck to do regular check-ups on the bikes. They were both very friendly and excited about B-Cycle and San Antonio, so it was enjoyable to talk to them and learn a bit about both that we didn't already know. They checked the bike tires for air, reapplied stickers, etc. I could tell that they really liked their jobs and took good care of the bikes and the customers. Sometimes we were a bit confused and backwards on the maps (including some detours and knowing which side of the river to be on at certain spots), but we always eventually found our way. I think an app just for the Mission Trail is in order. Sadly, although we could see the beautiful old missions, they were all closed due to the government shutdown of 2013 (Boo, Washington! What a bunch of bozos.). The bikes are VERY heavy, which I'm sure they need to be for durability, and awkward looking enough (like bowling shoes) so nobody steals them. This does make for a harder ride than normal bike riders are used to, though. I did have one security concern while using the B-Cycle and that's using my credit card time and time again to remove a bike. With talk of people rigging ATMs and gas stations with devices to steal your credit card information, how do I know if some random person isn't doing the same at unmanned B-Cycle stations? Answer: I don't. However, I made sure to use a credit card that I don't regularly use to better protect myself. I'm glad we took advantage of B-Cycle while in San Antonio. It will give me more confidence now to use them when we visit other cities. At $10 for the day, it was worth the fantastic experience and cheap sight-seeing tour of the city. read more

I love the freedom of bike sharing; I feel that when exploring different parts of a city, biking is the ultimate; you can use all your senses and see more than when walking. San Antonio is ideal for biking, and traffic is moderate and streets relatively large; the number of bike lanes is growing. I had eight days, so I bought a monthly pass. I did not encounter one bike with problems, and that was during ¡Fiesta!, too. Last year, I encountered several problem bikes, so I think the maintenance team has upped its game since then. Last year, I had significant problems with the app and docks, too, and I think these practices helped avoid problems: 1. Realize that the app has to communicate with the central system. T-mobile has crummy coverage in many parts of San Antonio, so sometimes you have to walk a few steps to improve the signal. I learned to be patient. 2. Often the app will not show the right bikes/docks when you want to check out a bike; hit the refresh, and it will repaint your screen. When you hit the dock number, sometimes the wrong bike will be on the confirmation screen; just do it again, and get the right one. 3. After you confirm the bike checked out, wait an extra couple seconds and click the "Done" link upper right. I think that helps the system realize you checked out a bike. Since I like long rides, I "renew" bikes every hour to avoid overage fees. 4.The worst frustration I encountered several times last year is that the dock doesn't communicate with the system that you returned a bike, so you can't check out another one without buying another ticket. I experienced this once this year, and I jiggled the bike vigorously, which triggered the dock. 5. On e-bikes. When I learned before arriving in SA that Bcycle had ditched normal unassisted bikes, I explored renting a bike, but it was cost prohibitive, so I decided to suck it up and ride e-bikes for a week. I was DELIGHTED to discover that the power assist is optional, so you can ride normal. Bcycle should promote that because a large minority of riders doesn't like power assist. For those nights during Fiesta that you don't want to deal with parking, or during Spurs playoff games when you don't want to be stuck in the cluster mess of downtown post-game celebrations, or just for those beautiful fall evenings when you need some fresh air. I had so much fun on my B-Cycle bike one Tuesday night, that I'm considering purchasing a bike of my own. Until I'm ready to bite that bullet, B-Cycle will be my go-to mode of transportation when venturing downtown or near downtown - once the weather cools off, of course. The $10 day pass ticket seems a little tricky to me. First of all, it's only $10 if your rides between stations are under 30 minutes. I think the 30 minute rule should be different. At first, I thought "Oh sure, 30 minutes from one station to another is plenty of time." Not really, especially if you end up wanting to stop somewhere that's not conveniently located near a bike rack, or if one rack is full and there's not another nearby to park your bike at. I eventually gave up on trying to be under 30 minutes, and just ended up parking my bike on public racks at various establishments. You're allowed to do this (each bike comes with a lock), it's just an extra cost to you beyond the $10 day pass. I'd love nothing more than to see B-Cycle grow and watch bike racks pop up all over the city, with more bikes at each station and more stations in general. It'd also be nice to be able to rely on it later at night, say past 12am? All in all, B-Cycle is doing major work in terms of making it easier and more enjoyable to be downtown, and I'm all for this! read more

Bike enthusiast, better than walking but not by much. I have to say I am a HUGE fan of these ride-share bikes they have in different cities around the country. I have used them in a couple of different places and while biking around the Twin Cities I see them out all the time. From a guy that loves to bike and does so at any chance available I must say I was very disappointed in the ride in San Antonio. They do have a lot of locations and it is a great way to see the area but right from the start it was not good. Of the 10 or so bikes that were docked where I started almost all of them had low tires. I picked the best one in the group and about 3 miles later I had a flat front tire (I am a very careful biker and didn't ride through anything odd). I hobbled along to the next station where the bike with the most air had a shifter that didn't work (you really don't ever want to go out of the highest gear since the lower ones are super low). I turned that one in and had to take another one a few miles away with low tires and just lived with it. The app they use isn't the best either but I can live with that. These bikes need some attention, hire someone and keep the riders happy while seeing this fantastic city! KT read more

I first used this company in Salt Lake City, Utah with some friends to get around town. It was spring and starting to get pretty warm and we didn't want to drive everywhere. Only problem is that over there finding docking stations was almost impossible, not to mention there were very few of them. If you get a day pass for $10 like we did and do not dock the bike every 30 mins you will get a fee charged to your card. Make sure you know where the docking stations are and if you aren't by one or feel like it will take you longer than the allotted time because you want to stop and shop, eat, etc. just know that you WILL be charged for each additional 30 mins. It is a really nice idea for places in cities where parking is limited or just expensive for no reason. My friend and I used this one Saturday morning and just rode around San Antonio exploring. We stopped at Madhatters Tea for lunch and tea time and then went back to the docking station and rode to Hemisphere Park. The have a docking station close to the Tower of America that you can park it in for a bit and walk around. Just look at the map when you get the bike (or before) and see where all the docking stations are and how to get to them. The bikes even have a basket in the front where you can put stuff. HOWEVER, do NOT put your cell phone in it alone because when I would pedal it decided to jump out in protest and a car almost ran over it. YIKES! So bring a purse, backpack or something if you want your cell phone to live. Definitely recommend this if you just feel like being more green and healthy for a bit. Ciao! read more

Then, somewhere, they say that you're supposed to dock your bike once an hour. Huh? When you're out riding your bike, and you can't make it to a dock in an hour, because you want to stop, enjoy the surroundings, and walk your bike up some inclines? Then, you get charged extra? San Antonio loves its bike lanes! These bike kiosks are located all over the city, and are easy to use. It takes about a minute to get your feet on the pedal, and get going. You just need a valid credit card, and off you go! The bikes are especially heavy, all steel. But they have headlights, tail lights, and three gears for your biking pleasure. The gear switch is on the right handlebar. It's kinda lame that they cut off bike service at 11p, which can put a damper on your late night carousing. I've had a few issues with the bike kiosks in the past glitching out on me, but if you call the number on the kiosk to let them know what's up, they're more than helpful. It's $10 for a 24 hour pass, and $2 / hour. If you ride for less than 30 min, there's no charge for the hourly rate. So if you can race like Lance Armstrong, (without the steroids) to the next spot, it's a cheap way to get around. read more

Weather was perfect for a ride around the city yesterday. My husband and I looked into the scooter rentals but decided to choose the bike rentals from BCycle. The concept is great and the time we got to spend riding the bikes around the city was awesome, but we had several problems. The first time we docked our bikes, we went back only to find that the station did not register them as docked. This was around 12pm. My husband simply called customer service and she said this particular station (by the Alamo) does this often and she fixed the issue. We were able to get new bikes. Then we decided to explore downtown, we went to Hemisfair park. And were there for a while. It was nearing our hour mark to dock and we could not find a station with any open slots. It was a Monday so im guessing not a lot of people were riding. We finally found a station. Docked and then undocked to continue our day. Around 3:30pm we decided to go to our hotel and rest and come back once it was dark to ride the city at night. We listened for the three beeps and for the light to turn green when bikes were docked, only to receive an email that our bikes were not docked. We called customer service once we realized this around 5:00pm and no one answered. We called back multiple times and never received an answer. The automated reply just said that the bike rack would most likely register the bike overnight. But I wanted to ride the bike more. We paid for an all day pass and should have been able to ride all day. Very dissatisfied. There should be someone available at customer service 24hours. read more

Easy to use pay system price was confusing didn't realize we had to buy a $12 membership but didn't mind. We downloaded the app and it made it easy to follow the path or leave the path and then get back on when time was running out. I was considering purchasing a $500 bike but I thought I'd try this bike share program first since there is a bike station right outside my apartment. What you should know: The bikes are steel bikes with baskets, attached locks and bells. Bike stations are plentiful and there's a cool app that tells you where the closest stations are. Also there is a 24 hour help line in case you have issues. Annual Membership:$80 which includes hour long rentals and various discounts at San Antonio local establishments. Daily membership: $10 and you can get 30 minute rentals for a whole day which means that you just have to walk up, tap the screen, swipe your credit card and select a bike number. The bike you chose will beep and you can then remove it from the bike rack. You can do this all day. If you go over your 30 minute or one hour time limit you will be charged $2 per half hour that you keep the bike. Lately I have had ALOT of issues where I return and bike, receive a text telling the bike has been confirmed as docked and when I come back to get another bike the station tells me I never returned my previous bike. So I spend a lot of time on the phone with customer service. I've never had this issue before. All in all I use my membership almost daily and I have seen so much more of San Antonio then I would have before. read more

I'm all about the B-Cycle! As a recent transplant from Boston where I was an annual Hubway bike share member, I was super excited to test out B-Cycle when I landed in San Antonio. Me and the fella opted to get annual memberships even before going on a ride when we realized that they were nearly half the price of Boston's Hubway memberships. In the first two days we used the bikes we covered nearly 35 miles and enjoyed every minute of it. Well, every minute except for the ones where we used the app and thought there were two bikes at the Liberty Bar station but found that only one was operational. We called in the bike issue (it had a flat) and the gal on the phone was very nice and offered to bring a bike to us if we'd like. Instead we had brunch at Liberty and walked to another station that was nearby. Since I used Hubway extensively and now have several hours of experience with B-cycle, I can say that it is definitely a good value, but I would change a few things. APP ISSUES -On both a new Iphone and a new Android, their maps app had us in a location that we simply were not. -It is slightly frustrating to have to click on each station on the map to see the number of bikes and docking stations available. On Hubway's app this is visible at a glance. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but if you're biking, tapping the screen of your phone multiple times to locate a station with an empty bike dock is quite frustrating. STATION/BIKE ISSUES -There isn't a way to report an issue with a bike without calling it in. The Hubway system has a button on the dock so you can report it immediately. This is linked with the app so if a bike isn't functional it doesn't show on the app. ACCESS -Wish they offered 24/7 access. Would be cool if they at least expanded weekend hours, but it's cool that they have added a couple of hours recently - now 4am-midnight instead of 5am-11pm. THINGS THEY DO BETTER THAN HUBWAY -Leader board. Maybe Hubway has this but i never knew about it and it's pretty cool -Being able to access the bike via credit card after you purchase your annual membership but before you receive your membership card. With Hubway you have to wait until you receive your key fob in the mail which is kind lame. -Labeling stations. It is super cool how the city has cooperated in having all the stations labeled on the signage around the city. It makes it a lot easier to ride from station to station. I don't know how many times I rode right passed a station in Boston because there wasn't any signage leading up to it. Really they are doing an amazing job with B-Cycle. I'm ready to B-Cycle around this weekend! read more

This is the fun way to do San Antonio and to check out the bicycle network that lines the gorgeous Riverwalk sights and missions. Check the maps to make certain you're on track and that you don't overreach your 30 minute stay, but if you do, it's only a $2 penalty. The bicycles in San Antone are well maintained - I did not notice any of the flat tires that I've noticed here in Austin, and each stop had a good selection of bikes with front baskets. There could have been more sun covers, but overall this is an enjoyable addition to San Antonio tourism, and tooling around downtown on bike was a delightful first for me. read more

Didn't even read much beforehand about what to do. Easy breezy to get started at the kiosk. I was on the bike within a minute. It is a HEAVY bike, all steel from what I can assume. I get why because it has to last the beatings people put it through and the ummm weight of various riders. if I wanted a lighter bike, I'd buy my own. I dig the basket being there if I need to use it... even though I feel a bit foolish. Makes me think I need a small dog in it. Kinda screams dweeb. The 3 speeds are super easy to deal with once you know it's a turn switch. Changes gears even if you aren't pedaling. Good when stopped at a light and you forgot to switch to 1. I suggest to find a location by a parking lot so you can take a practice spin before hitting the street. The bike is heavy and can be wobbly until you get used to the heft. And, if you didn't put the bike in 1st, you will struggle to pedal off. Unless you have great legs. Limited kiosk area and traffic downtown can get dicey. So, be careful. Even though there are bike lanes, car drivers don't give a sh*t. When you return it to a kiosk, you just insert into an empty slot, 3 beeps go off and you are done. The only negative is I wish they had an app for Android and Windows Phone to go with iOS. Or, a truly mobile version of their website i.e. m.domain.com. My phone would only bring up the desktop version which made it almost useless to find a kiosk with availability. read more

Mission: Get-To-The-Convention-Center-Fast Objective: Get to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as fast as my butt can without having to 1) pay for parking, 2) keep driving around looking for parking, and 3) spend as less money as possible doing said mission above ALL WHILE WEARING A DRESS. (yup, it happened folks!) How it went down: Parked right across from the Institute of Texan Cultures off of Cesar Chavez (west of IH 37) on a side street and noticed the B-Cycle station right behind were we parked our vehicle. After reading how cheap ($10 for a 24-hour unlimited use?!) a pass was, I told my friend that there was NO WAY we were going to walk (in the heat, in dresses - since we were going to the convention center to work for a bridal extravaganza event) and we were to prepare to bike. Grabbed my water bottle from the car, sunglasses, and purchased 2 B-Cycle passes for the day. Had little trouble understanding the instructions given on the screen (tip: you have to slide your card through to wake up the machine). We were off!!!! Listen, I know San Antonio drivers (I am a recovering San Antonio driver) and I was very apprehensive about riding a bulky Trek bike down Cesar Chavez to Alamo Street in efforts to get to the Convention Center. We did it though!! Drivers were kind but only because, as an avid bicyclist in Austin, we took up the entire left lane to bike on and I made sure we pedaled fast! Once we pulled up to the Convention Center I realized we needed to park the bike and because I was so consumed on making sure me and my friend didn't get injured on our ride there, I missed the parking station. I did not install the app, but thanks to the phone number on the basket of the bike, I was able to call the B-Cycle headquarters to get directions on where to a station was nearby. The gentleman was very helpful and kind. Even later on, after our work at the Convention Center, the woman who directed me to a station further down Alamo Street (as we were trying to get a drink at Friendly Spot) was super helpful and nice! Pros: - fast and easy way to pay for your B-Cycle - stations are literally less than a block away from the other station (in some cases) - helpful and friendly staff who are willing to direct you to where you need to go (from noon to midnight I was serviced by a staff over the phone) - bike was ready to go and had easy aspects of the bike to make the seat adjustable, seat was comfortable, etc. - YAY! San Antonio has an easy bike rental system that requires just one payment - Smooth and easy riding - Cons: - B-Cycle charged me 3 times for a bicycle rental even though I only purchased 2 passes. HOWEVER, a woman called me the next morning (after me calling the same night) to assess my situation and help me get reimbursed for a 3rd pass/bike - stations are not conveniently located (i.e. nothing by the Alamo? or right in front of the Convention Center off Market Street?) - no timer or indication that you have had the bike over 30 mins - the fact you have to check in the bike every 30 mins or you will be charged - flat tires on some bicycles at stations - not enough 'free' spots open at popular stations like Blue Star to dock my bike (thus making me pay a little more per hour since there was no way to dock the bike in) - NO BIKES LANES anywhere BUT Southtown. City of San Antonio- PLEASE change this! - make an option to be able to rent out 2 or multiple bikes at one payment Outcome: Enjoyed the bicycle ride to and from my car to Convention Center with ease and even took the bike up and down Alamo and Market Streets to see my home city on bike. This is a fantastic idea... so easy. $10/day, or $24/ 7 days. If you're here longer than one day, register online and buy the 7day pass even if you only stay 3 days, you'll be saving money. On short memberships you get unlimited 30 minutes rides... anything over 30 is an additional $2. There are tons of automated bike rack systems scattered throughout the Downtown San Antonio area... ride park, ride park. What a great way to see the city, and enjoy the historic sites, food, and brews (or wines) of this marvelous Texas City while working up an appetite. If you buy longer memberships, you get up to 60 minutes per segment before needing to rack the bike. The bikes all have baskets, some with 2, as well as lights and flashers for night time riding. read more

The bikes were in good shape and we got to see some areas of San Antonio we had never been to before. I moved from Boston where biking is a weekend adventure not an everyday pursuit and passion. Upon arriving in Austin I realized that biking was a part of the culture and B-Cycle offered me the perfect opportunity to utilize all that is unlocked by biking without some of the hassles of ownership. We just got back from riding along the river. The bicycles are well maintained and there are plenty at each stop. The $10 daily fee is reasonable and the stations are close enough together that there is no concern about charges for being late. I was in San Antonio for the marathon and was looking for a way to get around town without renting a car or using ride share. I found this program online, and as an avid cyclist it worked out great. There was a bike station right next to my hotel so it couldn't have been more convenient. And there were stations all around town so I never had to walk more than minute or three to find one with bikes. I paid $18 for a monthly pass and downloaded the app to my phone. It was easy to use, simply type your cell number into the kiosk and it will text you a code. Enter the code and take a bike. It's as simple as that. This program is perfect for someone that wants to stay active while having the convenience of getting around town at your own leisure. Note: check the bikes in advance, some are newer than others. But they all appear to have regular maintenance done to them. read more

I really love the idea of bike shares and bike touring, but my experience was really stressful. Google Maps, the B-Cycle App, and website map of the B-cycle stations all had different locations for the stations, some were really hard to find and some apparently no longer existed although appearing on certain maps. With only an hour between check-ins, my boyfriend and I were so stressed trying to find our way back to the riverwalk, and find the next stations on time that it was hard to really enjoy the rides and the missions. We must have had to check in and out 4 times, which kind of dominated our experience more than the riding itself. If anyone from B-cycle is checking this, a 2-hour period between check ins would do wonders. read more

First time I've used this service but will never use it again. I had $52.00 removed from my account for 30 minutes of bike usage. I road 30 min and docked it as instructed to avoid addntl charges on top of the $12 fee for day use. If it's not docked once per hour you're charged per 30 minutes something like $2.50. The bike was not recognized as being docked, it was locked in place and I was miles from my car. I was unable to get another bike because it did not recognize the one I docked. I called the help number multiple times. It took about an hour for someone to call me back to inform me the system had crashed. I had to call family for a ride. My sister was with me and experienced a similar problem with fees for not docking her bike too although she has also docked her bike. Luckily I took photos of the bike number where it was docked and I'm now trying to get my money back. Ruined my Sunday plans with my sister who was visiting from Houston and as of now a 30 minute ride cost me $52.00 because of their system crashing and their app not working. Please be aware this is a possibility when using this service. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

Love the idea! Sounds perfect! But... I attempted to sign up through my university for free rides for students. The website is faulty and won't let me actually sign up. Eventually got the app. Everything was going smoothly, then when I tried to submit it, there was an error with my credit card. It still took out a $1 processing fee (mind you the package I selected was free, and it forced me to enter credit card info), so I reviewed it and tried again and it took out another dollar... I know it's only $2, but this is annoying, and I can't reach anyone to ask for help. Also, I am still unable to ride. Not super pumped about that. read more

How can some of these 5-star reviews say "Some aren't in good shape", yet give it 5? We rented two bikes and one got a flat (while walking across the road). I called the service number listed on the bike and waited nearly ten minutes before hanging up (while listening to how important my phone call was). Then I was charged an overage fee because I didn't return the bike within 30 minutes! read more

The customer service is terrible. I just had to try out Bcycle.. I just had to, even though I have my own bike, I just had to see if this "bike share" program was worth it. I mean it was ok... besides the fact that they are not sending out people to check on the bikes. For example: I went to check out a bike and it had a flat.. but that wasn't the only location with bikes that had flats... Also, there were like a full rack of bikes at some stops while others had none. The lady, for customer service was condescending and had a big time attitude. She even laughed at my friend for not knowing how to use the bcycle system. She argued with me about the fact that we wanted to lock the bike up at the actual bcycle spot so that we could ensure to have a bike after we got out of the restaurant, stating that was not the purpose of the bike share program. I told her I understood her point, but also wanted to make the point that we did not want to be bike-less after leaving our location... she blatantly told me I was wrong and the way I was thinking was wrong.. I don't call that customer service. Oh and the app! It was terrible! It gave us directions to go down one way streets.. It couldn't tell us if there was a bcycle available at certain stops.. Oh it was a terrible experience. I say if you have a bike use it and just bring a lock. My friend made a good point, this would be better for one commuter versus the four we had.. it was just too hard to keep four working bikes for the whole day.. and that's exactly why we felt it necessary to lock our bikes up so that we could all continue our day on our bikes. read more

This is the public bicycle rental program. There are currently about a dozen stations around downtown where you can quickly get a bike, and drop off a bike, using your credit card with the computer controlled racks. It's great. Bikes are heavy, sturdy with easily adjustable seat height. They have baskets and a very bright dynamo based headlight and tail light. Runs $10 for the day with unlimited rentals, but catch is that you have to check in every 30 minutes, but even if you miss that the fee is only a couple of bucks extra. Good way to get away from the tourist mayhem downtown; you can ride south along the river walk (stop at Blue Star brewery). They offer 1 day, weeklong and other memberships. For the longer duration you need to sign up on the web. Computers on racks work very robustly and quickly. Very useful to have the b-cycle mobile app (iphone) which can use your GPS to help you find a good pick up or drop off. The app will tell you how many bikes and how many free rack spaces are available. The number free is good to know before you set out with some destination in mind. One time didn't check and found the rack I wanted to drop at was full, so had to search around for an alternate. If you go to a destination near the computer, and things are full, they extend your reservation 15 minutes. San Antonio seems to be a bike friendly city; lots of signs indicating bike routes, that bikes can take a lane, and so on. It's hot, though... riding around during the day is challenging. read more

I love using this program. I live in the Southtown area so they're super convenient when I'm trying to get from point A to point B without having to pay for a Lyft or Uber. I've only had one issue (bike not registering), but their customer service rep really helped me out without the stress of unnecessary fees. read more

Sucks!!! If you buy a 24 hour pass, you have to return them every half hour or you get charged $2 more for every half an hour you go over the first half an hour. You can barely get somewhere, let alone grab a beer or some food before you get charged on top of the initial fee. Go to a regular shop, rent a real bike n save yourself the hassle. read more

Absolutely loved the B-Cycles! What an awesome way to get around town during the busiest of events. No worries about parking or trying to beat the traffic & you can't beat the price. They have baskets for all your goodies, headlights & taillights, as well as an easy system of locking the bike up wherever you go. Not to mention the fact that you get a nice little workout to go along with all the restaurant stops you make :) Plus, the city is all geared up for bikes...bike lanes, bike racks, etc. read more

I love the idea of bike shares, and I always enjoy them when I get a chance. Getting a short term membership is very easy, and the bikes ride fairly well. They have a basket on them, to help you put a bag or some shopping away. There are plenty of stations, though they are not always easy to find based on the maps (sometimes they are slightly off where the map may say). My only problem is the day pass is a little on the expensive side, especially for this city. I would guess it would be more popular if it were more affordable. However, still a great way to get around! Also San Antonio is very bike-able. read more

Loved the bike share. As an avid biker I love to bike in any city that I visit. However I was unable to bring my bike on this trip. The b cycle was convenient. I even had a small problem that customer service fixed immediately. The bike was heavier than I was used to but the stations were easy to find so most trips were easily under 30 minutes. Plus biking down historic streets with buses going by next to you - priceless. read more

Rode B Cycle bikes on the Mission trail this week. I appreciated the large basket and the number of stations. However, some of the bikes did not shift smoothly, and it was a real hassle to dock the bikes every 30 minutes - not happy to have ended up with $4 in usage fees, in addition to the $10 day pass. I wanted to enjoy a leisurely ride and not worry about stopping every half hour. read more
