SA Event Center is a large conference space to hold lots of people. There's plenty of parking out front on concrete and rocks. The space inside is in need of some updating and touch ups. The yellow, lime green, and red walls aren't really appealing to the eye. I come to a yearly event held here and I know to come ready with a sweater due to unpredictable temperature. Very Crowded with morons that are acting like there is No Pandemic!! Vendors were helpful and nice, but no one wore masks or considered social distancing during the Covid Pandemic. Extremely distressing. I baught a gun with a quick glance at my Texas Drivers License. No other questions about Felonies or Mental issues. All you need is Money, and you can buy anything you want. Came by here yesterday for the Saxet Gun Show and I had a great time! There was so many different types of beautiful guns, rifles, knifes, taser's, gun accessories, and lots more. They also had a snack bar, people selling their awesome beef jerky and food seasonings, jewelry, and home/office decor. We spent a good amount of money and time in here but it was so worth it! The people were very friendly and great about answering any questions we had. Very experienced. It was my first time coming to the Saxet Gun Show and I can't wait to come back again! read more

This event space is older & could definitely use a face lift. But it is very spacious. There is a snack/refreshment area. Plus, restrooms are located on opposite ends to accommodate a large crowd. I attended the Half Price Books Clearance Sale. FREE event & FREE parking. Everything under $3! WOOT! The HPB people did an amazing job of utilizing the space. The rows of books, CDs, & DVDs were well organized & clearly marked Fiction, Romance, History, Cooking, etc. There were plenty of employees in red HPB Tshirts to greet people & help them find what they were looking for. Workers also kept the place clean & continually restocked & reorganized inventory. 10 cash registers were set up to quickly check people out & keep the line moving. Great event! So while the event space itself is not the greatest. Whoever rents this space can definitely make it work, as proven by the Half Price Books people. read more

I was here for the SAXET Gun Show. I was have to say it was pretty good because it was my first Gun Show. Tons of vendors...guns of all types; historic, Glocks, Rifles, Assault Rifles. There were ammo making dealers, custom gun holders, knives, even tasers. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend thIs Gun Show if you are an enthusist. There were also people walking around selling their private guns. read more

I was just there for the Ozuna concert and I am irritated that this place posted that doors open at 8pm when in fact did not open til 10pm. This place had people out waiting all around the whole building for those 2 hours and in the RAIN!! Terrible planning from this event place. How are they doing this. People should get reimbursed for having us wait for 2 hrs outside in the rain. Moreover, a better experience for the concert, provide chairs in the general section at least. or have the stage higher. Last but not least, do not let children to this type of events. There were kids under age of 10 allowed at this event. Poor kids were bored out of their mind and probably past their bed time by opening the doors at 10pm! Terrible planning! read more

This has to be the crappiest event center EVER! The inside is nothing special; just a cavernous space with a generic linoleum floor. They appear to charge extra for a/c and no one buys it. Hotter than heck for the San Antonio Quilt Guild show. The exterior is horrific. You need 4-wheel drive to get through the parking lot and that's just in the paved area. It has been patched over and over again. The vast majority of the parking lot is gravel. There is a framework on the front of the building for awning but there hasn't been any actual awning for decades. It looks beyond shabby. I would be embarrassed to host an event here. read more

Attended the Comic Con and it was a good time but the building itself could definitely use some work.. The walls and grounds really could use a sprucing up. Parking was plenty but they were charging 3$ which I thought was weird as street parking a block away was free. All and all my geekery was satiated. but I wouldn't go to anything else there unless it was REALLY cool. read more

Oh my God no this place is a dump. The people that work the front counter that we got our passes from and stuff like that they were super super nice and the people that work the snacks bar they were nice that did not have a very good selection of snacks it was mediocre at best. but the building itself is gross and dilapidated and just old and not nice at all the restrooms were disgusting I was scared to set my purse down and they didn't have purse hooks and looks like it's an old abandoned grocery store maybe I don't know I definitely did not feel safe with my car in that parking lot considering we drove straight here from out of town and didn't stop at the hotel first so the whole entire time I was at the show I was just worried somebody was going to break in my car and take all my stuff it is not in a good part of town and it is not and a nice Shopping Center.. the building was extremely hot inside it felt like they didn't even turn the air on. I will definitely be skipping this convention next year and going to ones in other places where their held at nicer convention centers. Everybody you talk to that was attending the show and the vendors felt exactly the same way. I'm really really need to put a lot of money into that building at least try to make it look nice. read more

I just attended the Saxet gun show, which recently moved from the Freeman Coliseum to the San Antonio Event Center. The interior of the facility is plenty big enough to host an event of this size, but the exterior and entrance are not. Parking (for which they charge $3) was an absolute nightmare, and the entry line must have stretched 200 yards. The entry issues may sort themselves out if the Saxet people figure out a way to be more efficient, but I don't see any solution to the parking. My advice: go early and give yourself plenty of time. read more

Horrible...! Went to a concert here. They posted on the ticket 6pm, but didn't let people in till 7pm. It was poorly promoted and poorly attended. The seating was at plywood tables that looked like they were set up for Bingo not a concert. We will NEVER go back!!! read more

warning to all. while attending the model event on saturday feb.16, my car was stollen from the parking lot. outside were signs stating the lot was monitered with security cameras. when i asked to see the video, i was told that the signs were just a deterrent by two security officers sitting in an office at the back of the builbing. my car was found three days latter with a busted right front window . read more
