They sell things like newspapers, the Express News and other national publications. There's a few magazines, which include Texas Monthly. But other than that, it's way overpriced colas, bottles of water that are crazy expensive. Candy that's going out of date and food that offers almost zero nutritional value. The only nice thing about this store is the set of tables outside of the place where you can chill and enjoy that candy bar you got for a fistful of dollars. I don't expect anyone is going to be standing outside of this store shouting "Extra Extra Read All About It!!!" This is a bit disappointing. They didn't have any coffee when I went.

Also, a great selection of mags. I sat in their for 30 minutes, and I appreciate not getting the stink-eye from the cashier from wearing out my welcome. My last shipment was two months late and I had to physically drive and pick them up myself. After the last debacle, I gave them a chance to make things right and they declined to do so. After so many years, I would have thought they would reach out to save a long-term business relationship. They are completely unprofessional in this regard. Their prices are better than most other print companies but as I learned the hard way... You get what you pay for. It's an adult store and smoke shop. Anywho, put my trust into going around San Marcos to look for a simple bullet. A bullet is a vibrating pill usually attached to a remote that can be clicked to switch from varying pulses. It's a basic and essential sex toy. It's an introductory one. A gateway toy. They didn't even have any. Took a quick glance and 40% of the store is cheap chemical leaking toys (no silicon), 10% porn mags, 20% DVDs, and 30% smoking pipes. As for atmosphere 90% bad lighting and 10% old building. I HATE Adult Megaplex (check my other review) with a passion but as sexist and sexually harassing as the staff is they carry the basics.

If that isn't community-centered journalism, then I don't know what is! The Austin Chronicle has constantly kept me informed on critical topics that otherwise more mainstream Austin papers wouldn't ever cover. The Austin American Statesman is the local newspaper for the Austin area. They've also got a…read morewebsite that does a pretty good job. The reporting tends to be a bit on the conservative side. They do some investigative journalism and get into the issues. Being that they're in the center of Texas politics, it's their responsibility to find out what's going on in the branches of Texas government. I feel that they do a fair job at this. They seem to be a lot more conservative than the populace of Austin is, advocating for a conservative approach to government. There's a lot of ads in here, and it seems to be overtaking the news. I wish they'd expand the cartoon section. I've never subscribed to this paper, but I always read it when I'm in town.
