Over the past year, however, I started experiencing an issue where the system would randomly shut off while I was playing. The first time it happened, I assumed it was just dust buildup. I watched a few videos, removed the side panels, cleaned the fans, used compressed air, and thankfully that solved the problem for quite a while. Recently the issue returned, and this time cleaning it myself didn't help. After doing more research, I learned about a common PS5 issue involving the liquid metal inside the system Because my console had been stored vertically since day one using Sony's official vertical stand, years of use had apparently caused the liquid metal to shift enough to create overheating problems. I started calling around for repair options and was being quoted turnaround times of 7-10 days. Then I remembered seeing videos from InstaFix on TikTok where they specifically discussed this exact PS5 issue and showed how they repair it. I called their Lake Forest location and spoke with YZ. Right away he was friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer my questions. Since the Fourth of July holiday was coming up, I asked about turnaround time and was honestly shocked when he told me most PS5 repairs like mine could be completed in about an hour to an hour and a half. I drove over from Orange County, dropped off my console, and YZ walked me through what they would be looking for and what the repair process involved. True to his word, about an hour later I received a text that my PlayStation was finished and ready for pickup. When I arrived, YZ explained exactly what they found, what they repaired, and what I could do moving forward to help maximize the life of the console. What I appreciated most was that he wasn't trying to upsell me on additional services. In fact, he told me my PS5 was actually in pretty good shape overall and that the repair they performed should resolve the issue. The repair also came with a one-year warranty, which gave me additional peace of mind. The total cost was $150, and personally I felt that was completely fair. Some people may look at that number and hesitate, but when you consider that a new PS5 costs well over $500, the expertise required to perform the repair correctly, and the fact that I got my console back fully repaired in about an hour, the value was obvious to me. In a world where it's becoming harder and harder to find businesses that combine expertise, honesty, fair pricing, and excellent customer service, InstaFix absolutely delivered. YZ treated me with respect, communicated clearly throughout the process, and got me back to gaming the same day. If you're dealing with PS5 overheating issues, random shutdowns, liquid metal concerns, or any other console repair, I would not hesitate to recommend InstaFix. I knew the password. My computer apparently disagreed. Ultimately, a complete system wipe was necessary to reestablish access. And honestly, that was just the beginning. From spilling my coffee, to being locked out of my computer, to mumbling my way through my first presentation without access to any of my materials, today had been going wrong from the moment I woke up. Thankfully, I was able to call Apple support and get a same-day 1:15 PM appointment at the Apple Store in Mission Viejo. Then, because the universe apparently wasn't finished with me, a fender bender on the 5 Freeway caused me to arrive exactly seven minutes late. I walked into the Apple Store only to learn that my appointment had been canceled. At this point, I was nearly ready to drop to my knees and beg for help. I had another presentation at 5 PM then the gala and ...absolutely needed my own computer to plug in and present. And this is where Mos a Star Wars-loving Apple Genius Bar special super agent enters the chat. Within MINUTES, Mos understood exactly what was happening. While diagnosing the computer, he also noticed my complete lack of appropriate security and recovery features and started helping me fix those too. (Clearly...I am not afraid enough of the dark side) In under 25-20minutes, he had the computer reset and me on my way back to having access again. But here's what made the experience even better: while all of this was happening, we talked about Star Wars, life, technology, and naturally...all the other Apple products I apparently need to purchase. Mos also introduced me to Apple Business, and someone will be reaching out to help me explore options for supporting the rest of my team which feels especially appropriate considering my IT department decided to vacation in Hawaii the exact weekend my computer staged a rebellion. For the record, every employee deserves PTO so.... I am blaming my computer for the rebellion not my IT specialist. (But I won't forget this next year when I agree to weekend presentations again) In fact, at this point I think your own Mos deserves unlimited PTO so he can explore every sand dune and filming location from the best Star Wars franchise ever.
