We stumbled upon the wine bar one hot Sunday afternoon in June after our 3 mile beach walk.. we popped into the first AC establishment we saw and thought a glass of white wine would help cool us down. 3 hour later, we left as wine club members, all thanks to Jerome ! He provided such a great welcoming and phenomenal service as well and shared his wealth of knowledge and passion for wine and IPAs with us. We appreciated him ! My husband and I frequent Paso Robles quarterly and this is a nice local spot for us to be able to try new wines. My husband was def sold after Jerome was sharing some of his favorite IPAs and also seeing that SCWC also carries one of his favorite local IPAs on tap. Jerome was an absolute ray of sunshine, so full of knowledge, and so accommodating! I love stopping into this wine shop whenever I am in San Clemente. Nice selection of wines for a variety of palettes. If you come with a few people who all like different things, you should all find something you enjoy at this spot. It's not the largest place, but there's still a good amount of seating in this cool beach town wine shop. The ambiance is mellow and laid back - no pretentious wine snobbery going on here! Gosh, if I still lived in San Clemente, I would probably be in there several times a week (LOL). Stopped in San Clemente to wait out unexpected traffic stoppage en route to San Diego. We were originally planning on a glass of wine but ended up with a wine flight instead. Jerome was wonderfully engaging. No wine snobbery whatsoever. Chelsea also helped us as we experience though the different stage of wine tasting. They do different wine pairing and other fun activities as well. We talked to several long time customers and wine club members, everyone was very welcoming and it's clear that San Clemente wine company has many fans. Server Brenda was incredibly rude and pretentious right from the start. She never owned her behavior or apologized, just continued to argue with us and be rude. She should not be in the service industry. Truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Additionally, there are no prices on anything and their selection of wines is very underwhelming. They also charge a corkage fee even if you buy a bottle from them. Wineries and tasting rooms in Napa, Sonoma, Carmel, and all over the world, waive the tasting/corkage fee when you buy a bottle. In a town with so many other options, do yourself a favor and skip this place! read more

Who knew! On our way home from Dana Point, we stopped by the San Clemente Wine Company. It's a quaint wine bar located in the heart of downtown San Clemente. Parking was a little hard to come by, so we drove around for about 10 minutes, so bring your patience with you. We normally go the Wineries, in either Temecula or Santa Barbara, so this was a little different for us. Upon entering the establishment, we were impressed by the wine selections that they had. We chose to sit al fresco, and bask in the sun, since it was a beautiful day out. We sat next to a lovely mother/daughter who frequents the wine bar. They had this mesmerizing blue bottle on their table, and inquired about it. We were told it was "baby blue" or Blue Rock Baby Blue, a red blend from Sonoma County. We ordered a bottle, and might I say, it was delicious! The wine had rich flavors of cherry, blueberry, blackberry and pepper. Very pleasing on the palate. Next door, there is a Thai restaurant where we ordered an appetizer sampler to go with our wine. The food was good, reasonably priced and shareable. I also ventured to the Thrift store located next to the wine bar, and walked away with a few finds. I was visiting San Clemente to visit a friend and we walked into this wine shop looking to buy a nice bottle of wine, the shop was open and empty, but the people at the front were not helpful at all. They didn't even bother asking if we needed help. I'm sure if we were Caucasian that would've been different. They were snotty and aloof. The shops around this area need to keep in mind that they have visitors from all over the different counties visiting and they need to be more welcoming because these visitors are willing to spend money. read more

We live about an hour and a half from San Clemente stoped by on the back up to LA and we fell in love with this Gem. Met Jerome whom was amazing such a great vibe, very knowledgeable of his wine choices. The experience was so good we have been back twice after that. Definitely recommend this spot!! I have been by here so many times and finally had the chance to try it!! I went in last week to buy a bottle of wine for a friend and the owner was working. He was so nice, knowledgeable and was recommending different bottles to me. They were also setting up for one of their wine maker dinners which looked really nice and fun. He told me about their Chilean flights this weekend so I wanted to be sure to go back! I went back with a friend on Saturday and Jerome was not there but Lisa was working. She gave us the rundown on the flights as well as different bottles and deals they had. We chose a nice rosè to share and loved it. It was the perfect summer drink as it was not heavy but was served nice and cold. They also don't charge to re-cork so we were able to enjoy the rest at home that night. The location is perfect as you can park on Del Mar and walk around, enjoy dinner and then be sure to stop in for some wine. It is also close enough to walk to and from the pier. Their flights are around $22 but with the Yelp offer they are not bad at all. I would love to go back and do different flights to try the reds and whites that week. I really appreciated that Lisa was so knowledgeable about the wines they were featuring but also just wine in general. I felt that we learned a lot from her and she made it really fun! Got talking to the owner here and she was super informative. She talked a lot about her back ground and got us to try a couple of different wines. She listened a lot to what I wanted and gave me exactly what I asked for. It's rare you get someone who will listen to exactly what you want to try and not just what they like. Walked by this place after dinner and decided to stop by for a night cap. Surprised to have found a hidden gem! We got the international flight which started with a white wine, with subsequent reds. Our server, Brenda, was so hospitable and welcoming! We actually had a bad pour (I could smell the wine was funky) and Brenda was kind enough to pour us a different tasting. Bf and I were wandering around town when we came across the San Clemente Wine Company. We walked in to see what the tasting was all about, and the scene looked so warm and happy that we decided to stay and taste! Initially, we chose to split one of the 4-flight set tastings for $10 (I'm a SUPER light drinker). But after we talked a little bit about our preferences (me: sweet, he: red) our expert pourer tailored our tasting for us. Nice! To round off the experience, we ordered the 3-semi-soft cheese plate ($10), plus prosciutto ($5.50). The plate came with a gorgeous little pile of super thinly sliced prosciutto, a bunch of grapes, two little dabs of honey, three chunks of different cheeses, and a basket of water crackers. The mood around us was light and bubbly, and it was contagious! We were indeed on vacation for the weekend, but we made mental notes to wine taste at home more often, to re-create that vacation feeling right at home. Stopped in with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was great and the service was good. The server at the bar was very polite and knowledgeable. As we were enjoying our wine, who we feel was the manager or supervisor, came to the bar with a group of her friends and started to bad mouth the employees behind their backs. The first statement was about how the bartender didn't cut the wine label off far enough before serving the wine, then called her lazy. As her and her friends laughed about it, they continued talking about other employees and their faults. This was so tacky, In front of her friends and customers. There was a book signing occurring, so it was a little crowded and lively in the back bar area, but we all found seats easily enough. We were quickly greeted and given an overview of the four flight options, including a special. The prices are definitely on the high side with most or all of them being greater than $20, however the pours are generous and the wines are good. Plus, the service is friendly and attentive. My Sister, her friends (9+ friends) and I decided to go to the San Clemente Wine Company for a Birthday party Outing. It did not disappoint! I am not a huge wine drinker but we loved it! ( i tried a sparkling Marlot), it was good). We had a party of 9 plus friends, We sat in the middle of the place. We had such a great time. The employees were amazing! Stopped in for a short break from the rain on a Saturday afternoon. We had driven in from Los Angeles for a wedding in San Clemente. Because of the rain, we allotted extra time (since we all know Southern Californians & rain are not the greatest combination). We had lunch up the street and still had time to kill. We chanced upon this place and decided to do a quick wine tasting. Great selection! My bf and I shared one red flight. The bartender was very helpful and gave us her own tasting notes and recs.
