Super cool Padres Winter Blood Drive shirt. Really cool how observant Padres fans are and noticing those one-of-a-kind giveaways is so much fun! Then the Padres were giving away other stuff! There was a Dylan Cease bobblehead, a 2019 team book and a mini Trevor Hoffman HOF plaque and the Trevor Hoffman book (I got that one!) basically showing him from Little League to the HOF. The San Diego Padres and Petco Park! What a fun baseball experience. 5 stars in my opinion. I showed up to a game back on Labor Day Monday, September 4th, 2023 and had a terrific time. I mean...San Diego has it all. Where do I start? I guess from the beginning, lol. The weather = perfect. No humidity, happy sunny days almost everyday with the city located right on the southern tip of California. And Petco Park. Situated in downtown San Diego, the park opened in 2024 and fast forward 20 years later, it still felt modern. For a holiday, I parked right on the side streets for free rather than having to search for a parking lot and paying. Plus, if you live in San Diego, there's transportation everywhere, you probably don't even need a car anyways. I did my usual early pregame walk around the stadium. Granted there were a few homeless folks sleeping on the sidewalks, I avoided them and still managed to grab a few undisturbed pictures. There's one specific corner when walking around that's ideal for capturing Petco Park's entirety. Otherwise, it's surrounded by high rise skyscrapers. And the stadium conveniently sits right along the San Diego harbor waters and for tourists visiting the downtown area, the famous USS Midway is only 1 mile away. Petco Park has a capacity of 42,000 which I'd say is a little below the average for MLB parks. Still, it appeared like wherever you sat was a worthwhile view with a relatively cozy overall feel. Gates to the park opened 90 minutes before first pitch. But...if you enter through the outfield section which is called Gallagher Square, they allowed you inside 2 hours prior. Gallagher Square is a cool part of the stadium to hang out at. It's good for kids. There was some music being played on a concert stage. Then the music got switched into a Padres player interview where fans could ask questions and eventually get autographs signed. Although you can get into Petco Park through Gallagher Square, access to the field was still off limits until the 90 minute mark prior to game time. Also in the outfield area is a Must See statue...and that's of "Mr. Padre" - Tony Gwynn, one of baseball's all time best hitters. There's also another statue honoring Trevor Hoffman, one of the best closing pitchers. And...there's a Padres Hall of Fame where fans can enter at their own leisure and walk around. There's even a "Padres in Cooperstown" section with plaque dedications to almost 20 retired Padres players. Yeah, the Padres have plenty of history and Petco Park does a wonderful job recognizing their achievements. Continuing on...Lol, I have a lot to say. If you're still reading, I salute you! The front to the ballpark entrance has an amazing stairway blanketed in iconic Padres' brown and gold colors with a big "SD" logo embedded in the steps. It's great for a photo. I bought a ticket at the box office for $15. This is my preferred way to buy baseball tickets rather than use StubHub and Ticketmaster with all their ridiculous fees. I sat in Section 303, Row 16 which was right behind home plate in the upper deck. It offered a panoramic setting of San Diego's downtown skyline which was fantastic. Anytime there's a city's skyline in the distance, it gets huge bonus points from me, hahaha. But, kudos to San Diego and the construction of Petco Park. I can't think of a single negative about the stadium. Almost done, lol, the visiting team for the game were the Philadelphia Phillies. Their fans traveled well and I heard them cheering when they were scoring. For a Labor Day game, attendance was pretty good. At least 3/4ths of the park was full. Lastly, after the national anthem and when the Padres hit homeruns, there were firework celebrations set off in the outfield. That's always a favorite detail of mine no matter what sporting event I'm attending. Must have fireworks! In the end, I'd rank the San Diego Padres and Petco Park in my Top 5 favorite MLB experiences. Such a good time. THEY GOT ME! I've had the most incredible time watching this team play and I'm proud of how far they've come! Despite the haters and the odds this team is resilient and I have major respect for them. Some of the players are a bit iffy like Kim and Machado (they don't do much and people just bandwagon as their fans) but I'm a Tatis Jr. fan now, that man can play! At my first Padres game I saw Tatis Jr. make a home run and it was an unforgettable moment for me as a baseball fan. I really like how this team treats their day-to-day fans, there's some really cool giveaways like shirts, long sleeves and button-ups. However, I don't like how they treat diverse communities here. I feel like the Padres only include people to take their money and it shows. For instance, on "inclusive" nights, if you want anything to support your community it will come at a hefty ticket bundle price, I think it's unfair. Also, for a team that touts inclusion they're lacking in this department as they only support the Military and Mexican heritage night. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they do, but this is a diverse city with different people! It's unacceptable that we have to have this conversation. It's June and we aren't celebrating anything, not cool. I'm also not a fan of the overpriced merch which includes some underwhelming pieces. Ticket prices are also extremely exorbitant as the team is doing fairly well right now, Ticketmaster is a killer and I hate it. Overall, I like my experience here despite the various challenges. The staff that work for the team are super sweet, I have to give a BIG shout out to the merch booth people. They greeted everyone! Also, there's a neat hill which plays more as a viewing lawn for fans who don't want to pay a hefty ticket price. It's essentially a lawn facing Petco's concert stage which has a large screen of the game playing live. You can't see the field from the hill but you can see the seats and get the experience of being in a stadium with a cheering crowd. I hope this team works out the operational kinks, I know I'll enjoy it even more if they do. Anyways, I'll come back it was really fun! read more

I had been awarded two regular seats as part of the Ronald McDonald Charities. However, I needed to exchange them for ADA Seats. I contacted them and reached Jenna, Director, Group Tickets and Hospitality. She could not have been more nice, and more importantly, more professional, and more helpful. She asked me all sorts of questions about my ability to move around the ballpark. At the end of the hour long conversation, she told me that my tickets had been exchanged. I got the tickets today, but they are not ADA SEATS, as expected. "If you need assistance reserving tickets or require ADA accommodation," we were supposed to contact the Padres. They are ADA EQUIVALENT, but far from the entrance!!! I have dementia, and sometimes when I explain my condition, people don't actually understand my condition, which is unfortunate. I've always been a fan of the San Diego Padres, but now I am still waiting to be a Super Fan. Unfortunately, they wouldn't exchange the seats for some close to the entrance where the car would be parked in their lot. I just bought an extra set of seats. I now have had a heart condition come up which has caused me to sell everything that I just purchased, what a disappointment overall!!! read more

Currently, the Yelp description for a two-star rating is "Could've been better." That's what I think about the San Diego Padres - they could've been better. Since the team's formation in 1969, the Padres have only appeared in the World Series twice (1984, 1988) and have zero championships. Among MLB's 30 active teams, the Padres are one of only six to have never won the World Series. From this perspective, only three teams have performed worse: the Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies (each with one World Series appearance and zero titles) and the Seattle Mariners (the only MLB team with zero World Series appearances and zero titles). The street in front of Petco Park, the Pads' home ballpark in downtown San Diego, is named Tony Gwynn Drive. Another notable Padre is the late Gwynn's fellow Hall-of-Famer, Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman was a relief pitcher for the Pads from 1993 to 2008. He was a seven-time All-Star, six of which occurred while he was with San Diego. In 1996 and 2008, Hoffman was the top relief pitcher in the National League. He also led the league in saves those years. Hoffman is the MLB all-time leader in saves with 601 and his 9.36 K/9 (strikeout average per nine innings) is the best among relief pitchers. He had nine seasons with 40 saves or more, another MLB record. Unfortunately, Hoffman never won a Cy Young Award. The Pads have played at Petco Park since the ballpark's opening in 2004. With a capacity of 40,162, it's the smallest arena in the NL West and third-smallest in the NL overall. The team's original colors were brown and gold. From 1991 to 2019, the team switched from brown to blue for a completely different look. Very disappointed in the service we received after spending 12,000 as a family for a suite. We couldn't even get a server to provide service and then once he did come we were told that he has multiple suites and wouldn't know when we could actually get out items delivered so basically ordering from outside the suite was better. Security at the front gate denied my friend entry because her bag was "too big", even though it had been allowed it multiple times before. She decided to leave it alone and go to the other entry gate across the park, while I chose to stay and wait for a supervisor to arrive to question the policy. I was denied entry for an ambiguous reason (being "too aggressive), while all I had tried to do was understand the policy as it pertained to my friend. I was ultimately denied entry while my friend was granted entry on the opposite side of the stadium. This stadium needs to better standardize their policies and reach out to those they deny entry for simply trying to understand why bags 0.5 inches larger than the red square are 100% denied entry. (While mandated to put her belongings in her a much larger, clear bag). read more

This is a great park in my opinion, so long as you aren't in the 300s of the outfield. If you're coming south, I do recommend taking the Coaster and then any of the three trolley lines to Petco or hoof it the whole 1mi. It's a max of $18 round trip for one adult. ($13 for all zones on coaster, this reduces the closer you are to the park; and $2.50 each way on the trolley--get a PRONTO card and you're on your way as it works for both.) Meanwhile parking near the park is $55+!! I wish I was joking. So, I mean, I guess parking makes sense if there's more than 2 in your party *and* you don't mind dealing with city driving. (It wasn't that bad, but I'd prefer the Coaster tbh.) There's bag restrictions here, so make sure bags are no larger than say... a small crossbody. (7in x 7in x 3in for example) I think they make exceptions for baby necessities and medical needs (because ya know... ADA laws, just sayin'). Expect exorbitant prices inside, duh. $35 for 2 tall boys and a bottle of cheap water. The crowds have always been tame at this park, so I'm thankful for that. Yeah, I guess that's it! Never been to California until May 15th-18th. Went to the game on the 16th vs the Seattle Mariners, we lost but I still had fun. I loved the atmosphere, food and the view of home plate from my seat. Got a picture of(not with)Alex Miniak, the public address announcer; he has a great voice. I was on vacation in San Diego and had tickets to see the Padres play the Rockies. Petco Park is very beautiful and fan friendly but my ONLY complaint is that I wasn't allowed to bring both my detachable lenses for my DSLR camera i to the ballpark. Wish I had known this ahead of time to avoid hassle. I missed batting practice due to having to wait for the Guest Relations office to open. I did not want to walk 6 blocks back to my car to out my other lens in there. Just didn't feel right so I gave my smaller lens to Guest Relations to hold into til the game ended. I enjoyed my experience and think the Padres are a very classy organization. I intend to come see another game in the future. read more

We came to this stadium for a Kidsfest day and it was overall fun and a great experience. We got to get into the stadium sans lines with our little one, they let us in a side entrance and given directions and an elevator ride to our destination. The seats were great, the game was good, weather on point. I do wish that some of the kidsfest vendors were there a little longer, like the air ballon person left after the 2nd inning and I had just found out where they were located. The stairs to the seats were a little steep, with a toddler that can be a little tricky. And the area with the kidsfest stuff was on the grass part on the outskirt of the stadium, which was great, and a great area, but that also shut down before we could do some of it. Otherwise, it was fun, and now that I know and if we go again, I can plan better. read more

If we couldn't make a game we were able move our dates very easily. The special events were excellent and the giveaways were awesome. The food all throughout the Stadium was vast and excellent. The Baseball was the real and exciting win or lose, the owners hearts are in the right place. We can hardly wait to see spring training next year and opening day. Padres are awesome . My history of being a Padre fan goes back to their first season in MLB. While I enjoy the success of these later years, it is just getting harder and harder to support this team. Over the years I could usually afford to attend a game or 2 a year as a single young adult, and even as a young parent with kids. However tonight my support for this team really took a turn for the worse. Not only did I spend $70 each for 4 tickets for a total of $280, but there was $60 for parking and $35 for a beer for me and a hot dog for my wife. My 2 adult kids who don't attend games very often paid for their own food which had to be close to $60. I elected to not eat anything at those prices and the suggested 15-20% tip on top of it . It becomes pretty mandatory when the cashier stares at you to see if you tip them, and gives you a dirty look if it doesn't meet their expectations. The last straw was waiting 30 minutes in line at the new Cutwater Club "window" for a 2nd $18 beer, with tip. Apparently the Padres found a way to take some of the worst seats in the stadium and call it an exclusive club as a way to charge exclusive prices to get in. But yeah they installed a "window" for us ordinary folks. I get it, its the capitalistic way to get what you can, and as long as people pay then who can blame them. However the ultimate clincher is that for no apparent reason the manager of the Padres elects to sit Fernando Tatís, and Jackson Merrill which are the two main people I paid these ridiculous prices to come see. Basically the experience wasn't very good or entertaining, and I left feeling really cheated out of my hard earned money. Its obvious the Padres are only interested in making it a nice experience for the sole purpose of charging more money. However it failed in so many ways. At least put your multi-million dollar best players on the field every night. I pay their salary through my ticket prices. I deserve to see them play. Its like going to Disneyland only to have your favorite ride closed with no prior warning. Don't they realize that what may be just 1 of 160 games for the team, may actually be a very rare attendance opportunity for many fans. I am done, and aint going back. Let management have the rich and frivolous to keep them in business. I ethically cant be a part of it any more. read more

If you are going to have rules, be consistent! I went to 2 games this season. The first one I was inconvenienced but stuffed a few things I needed into a 5 x7 mini "purse". When I got in I saw tons of people carrying regular size bags . Fast forward to second time I attended. I brought a bag 5.5 x 7.5" thinking no problem I saw so many regular bags last time. Nope, I was forced to throw away my bag, and carry my items in my hands! When I got in... again I saw tons of people with regular size bags. What is the point of making a 68 year old woman throw away her purse, carry her stuff in her hands, and ruin her whole experience? Only made it 100 times worse to see other people carrying their regular size bags everywhere I looked. How is this justified? read more

I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by the service I have received. To preface, my partner and I are big fans of the Padres. I have lived in San Diego my entire life, currently live blocks from Petco Park, and have attended multiple games and shows at Petco Park. To explain, I contacted the SD Padres box office for tickets and they encouraged me to order tickets through their website which links to Ticketmaster. We purchased 7x tickets for a game that was occurring during Hurricane Hillary. We asked to exchange our tickets because the majority of our guests needed to evacuate San Diego due to the governor-proclaimed State of Emergency in Southern California. We walked over to the box office at stadium which refused to help us because we had purchased tickets through their website which was run by TicketMaster (even though they were giving refunds/exchanges to those that purchased tickets directly at the box office AND had encourages us to do so this way in the first place). We called Ticketmaster and they said we are able to exchange tickets as long as we do so before their 12p deadline. We remained on the phone for over an 1.5 hours (starting at 11am) and the representative was unable to find us tickets during that time.. When he did find us tickets he said it was past the deadline and too late to rebook. He seemed to empathize with us and his wrongdoing in the situation, and guaranteed us that we would be contacted by a supervisor who would give us a refund or exchange tickets by Monday. We were not contacted until days later saying that Padres did not cancel or allow refunds for the event and since the deadline to exchange (and the event itself had passed) so therefore there is nothing we can do. When we contact the Padres, they absolve their self of the situation by placing the blame on Ticketmaster. We have tried to call Ticketmaster multiple times but only receive email or chat responses from different representatives or chat bots saying the event passed and there is nothing they can do. This is a scam and a fraud. It was the TicketMaster representatives fault for delaying our order call past the exchange deadline, AND it is both parties fault (TicketMaster AND Padres) for saying it is the OTHER business's responsibility to handle the matter. We demand to be assisted by a supervisor who can help this situation. This was hundreds of dollars that has been taken from us. Please have a representative call immediately. We will not be attending another game at Padres Stadium OR ordering through TicketMaster until this gets resolved. read more

The Stadium is really good! They have a plenty of restaurants, gourmet or fast food. Also, the place is in DTSD where are many restaurants to catch up the game if you couldn't buy tickets. The price of tickets is reasonable. We will to see our team, visiting team, they lost but that is fine. Each game is different than the last one. However, it is really nice to see a good service in a stadium.The hot dog is $7 . Better prices than Dodgers stadium. read more

Yes I'm gonna be real bias on this review I won't lie, I'm a born & raised San Diego kid & support my San Diego teams especially my Padres! I've always love my Padres since I was a kid back in 1984! Yes my heart has been broken a few times & I've been frustrated many of times but I stay loyal. My favorite players have been from Garvey to Gywnn to Hoffy. We have been fortunate to have a few great players & good years in the playoffs & World Series. I know we might not have much history but we got great memory's & will continue to make more while watching with my kids. Every year I keep the Faith even when I know deep down inside were not that good. We finally got owners who are willing to spend money & a GM not scared to make big moves & try to get us to the top. For the first time since 98 the city is excited bout baseball & we got new fans jumping on the bandwagon & I'm ok with that the more fans the better! We are building from our farm system & minor league system & spending some money thanks to the new owners & GM caring enough to finally give this city a competitive baseball team. And we should finally make competitive run at a playoff spot in the near future (crossing fingers). So thank you San Diego Padres for making baseball exciting & competitive again in SD! The Padres are the only major sport team in San Diego that stays loyal to us & wont leave us so kudos to them. So if your not a fan yet & from San Diego go ahead jump on the bandwagon baby & represent our San Diego Padres! Go Padres win or lose baby! read more

Who doesn't like America's Favorite Pastime! I have never met anyone who doesn't! Even if the Padres are not winning, this is a great place to go to eat good food, drink craft beers and get some fresh air with friends, families, loved one's or a place for you among other fans! It's a beautiful, well-laid out park with MANY choices! On this trip, we ate food from Hodad's (a San Diego establishment) and enjoyed some Sculpin from Ballast Point. If you have a well-behaved, licensed dog with all current vaccinations you may apply to the Dog Days of Summer each year at Petco Park (the reason we attended a game this week). The Padres and Petco know how to put on unique activities to entertain everyone! Our next trip, we plan to book at the The Railing. I was a spokesperson for baseball in DC and now our dog is representing the Padres with his local fan spirit! Go Padres! Go Padres! Go Padres! read more
