I loved this stadium. New York Met fan FO life but I was visiting San Diego from New York and thought it would be fun to go to a Padres game and it WAS FUN. First off, what a breeze getting into the stadium, just organized and easy, I was shocked. People in California are so chill, it's bizarre. I swear I didn't hear one honk of road rage my entire trip. Anyways, they had this grass seating area you could sit at inside the stadium, adorable. A massive sand pit in the outfield, how cool. The sunset as I was walking up to my seats, a dream. The people, friendly! The Diet Coke, REFRESHING. (Even though side note the guy charged me $14 for a souvenir cup when I didn't want a souvenir cup obviously not going to have a Padres cup in my cabinet but you know what, that's OK because the whole experience of being at this stadium was so lovely, give me a cup, charge me an obscene amount for a soda, whatever dude!) There were so many food options it was overwhelming in a good way, so many bars to hang out at in the stadium, cool crowd, highly recommend coming here for a game even if you're not a fan. read more

We won this game so it was extra fun. You don't always have to buy food & drinks. However, it's part of the ballpark experience. My family and I visited Petco Park to watch the Dodgers vs Padres game. Wow! This is a very friendly, well-maintained stadium. Despite our Dodger regalia, Staff consistently smiled and eagerly helped. I was taken aback by Staff's professionalism, charm, and work ethic. Staff friendliness was comparable to Disneyland. I did notice some small arguments between inebriated fans, but I'd quickly saw security appear to settle any issues. I felt safe at Petco Park. Also, it was a little hilarious how 70% attendees appeared to be wearing the white and blue. Food is decent. Unlike Crypto Arena's lazy build-your-own nachos, there's effort and flavor with Petco Park's nachos. Also, I appreciated how the Souvenir Cups had unlimited refills on day of purchase. Petco Park also had a really chill family atmosphere vibe. The decor reminded me of Knotts Berry Farm with all the brown and wooden beams. My family and I didn't even have to pay for parking since we just downloaded the PRONTO app to use the San Diego Trolley fare system; we just rode a trolley over. We'd found a nearby hotel that was literally a one minute walk from a trolley stop. Overall, my family and I had a great time at Petco Park. Although we'd unfortunately visited on a day the Dodgers had lost, the memory was still fun. It's also kinda hilarious how Petco Park dedicated so much time making a "Beat LA" chant which is kinda hilarious. Dodgers are living rent free in San Diego for sure. All in all, I happily recommend especially when the Dodgers come to town. read more

I had the chance to visit Petco Park for the first time to see Ed Sheeran, and I came away just as impressed with the venue as I was with the concert. One of the coolest things about the stadium is its location right in the heart of downtown San Diego. It's incredibly walkable, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and things to do before or after an event. The stadium itself is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained, making it a comfortable place to spend the evening. Even if you're not there for a baseball game, Petco Park is an outstanding venue and a great place to experience a concert. read more

Petco Park is beautiful! It's always a good time going to see the Padres play. Sometimes you even get really lucky with a killer sunset. I've been to a couple other events there and I've always thought they were well put on. The concessions are pretty good, there's a big variety of food and I love all the local craft breweries. It is crazy expensive to eat and drink there. The last time I went, I got a hot pretzel and I went into this little area where they pre-authorize my card and then I just picked up whatever food and drinks I wanted and the camera charged me the appropriate amount when I left. First time at Petco Park, and I can see why people like it. We parked around 15 minutes walk away to avoid the post concert traffic . The entrance line looked intimidating at first, but it was well organized and moved surprisingly fast. Food and drinks lines were on the longer sides, but with so many vendors and options, so it didn't feel so painful. This was my first time watching a MLB baseball game at a stadium other than the SF Giants. Unlike the SF Giants ballpark, which has changed names four times, Petco Park has always had one name. Recently, I was staying across the street and saw there was a game that same day. Luckily, there were still tickets available for a Saturday night game when we checked at the box office. The ball park was fun to check out. There is an area in the back where you can sit and watch the game on a big screen tv (not my desired place to be in the park). In the back, there is also an area where you can sit or stand and watch from the view from behind outfield. We sat at the club level behind home plate and it was the best view. There's lots of good food options in the ballpark including birria nachos and Japanese curry. Their Friar Frank dog was about $9, which was reasonable compared to SF hot dog prices. We only had some small snacks - churro and frozen lemonade, which were just okay. It was a fun experience to check out Petco Park for the first time, except for the fact that the Padres didn't even score one run the entire game against the White Sox. read more

Our party came here for the daily guided tour. [Parking]: Free street parking was available on Sunday and I parked near the intersection of Eighth Ave and Island Ave. There is also a parking structure across from the Western Metal Building Box Office (the 6th & K Parkade) with $1 per hour rate ($15 daily maximum until 6 PM). [Check-in]: Visitors are expected to check in at the Western Metal Building Box Office near the intersection of K St & Tony Gwynn Dr. Tour start times range from 10 AM to 2 PM, so check the website for details. [Ticket]: $41.50 per person plus $1 per ticket fee. [Experience]: The tour was expected to last 80 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 90 minutes. During the tour, our party was able to see the Private Luxury Suite, Cutwater Coronado Club, Padres Hall of Fame (Tony Gwynn aka "Mr. Padre," Trevor Hoffman, Dave Winfield, etc.), Breitbard Hall of Fame, Blue Shield Home Plate Club, Press Box, Field Warning Track (including sitting in the dugout with photo opportunities), and the Visitors Clubhouse. The tour guide was fairly knowledgeable. One interesting fact I learned was that there is no left-field foul pole & the corner of the Western Metal Building serves as the left-field foul pole. In addition, visitors get 10% off at the Padres Team Store and Bub's at the Ballpark with their tour tickets (valid only on the day of the tour). Unfortunately, the Team Store was closed during the day of our visit. [Conclusion]: While Petco Park doesn't have the rich history as Dodger Stadium or Wrigley Field, it is still a fine ballpark in its own right with beautiful waterfront views. read more

This was my first time seeing a Padres game at this stadium. I forgot how fun it was to watch a live game. Loved all the excitement from the crowd and did my share of screaming and cheering. I arrived early, so I had lots of time to check out the Hello Kitty merch at the Padres Team Store. Got a tote bag and plushie to add to my growing collection! It's been yeeeeeaaaars since I've been to Petco Park to watch a Padres game! Getting here and back home was super convenient thanks to the trolley station being so close. It made the whole experience easy, fast, and inexpensive without having to worry about parking or traffic. The process of getting into the ballpark was smooth, and I really appreciate that we can bring in food and water. On top of that, the food options inside are awesome! We love going to Petco Park when the Dodgers are in town. We love sitting behind third base great seats, good view, and you're on the visiting side with all the dodger fans. They have a great array of restaurants from Hoda's burgers, tacos, sandwiches, beer here is expensive. I think I paid 24 bucks for a can of beer, and another 10 bucks for peanuts and another 10 bucks for cracker jack. So food is good just expensive. They always have helpful ushers showing you to your seats and directing you to where you need to be. read more

Petco Park is the downtown home of the San Diego Padres, known for its unique design that incorporates the historic Western Metal Supply Co. building, breathtaking views of the San Diego skyline and bay, and a vibrant craft beer and food scene (check out craft row). Fun fact: I helped build this beautiful park (back in 2002-03). Not to be biased, but we truly have the finest park in the finest city in America! Love the unique design, amenities, food vendors and public areas like "Park at the Park" and Gallagher Square- they also have an open playground for kids, with a dog park, and viewing areas to watch the game! There isn't a bad seat at Petco due to its thoughtful design! The stadium offers excellent sightlines. My wife and I prefer any seating areas near the first baseline! That's our usual spot! I am not a big baseball person but when I do show up to a game I'm always impressed by how nice our stadium is. Beautiful space, good views from pretty much anywhere, great (although pricey) food options, plenty of clean bathrooms, and convenient to night life downtown. I'm always surprised how clean they keep the space and how organized they keep flow during busy events. It would be nice if food prices were more reasonable, and if parking weren't so disastrously overpriced, but the parking isn't their fault. read more

We had a chance to visit Petco part two times within three or four days. It was really nice because they keep the part very clean and there were also many fans. When we came on one night. It was the first night of Star Wars Weekend. They hired people wearing costumes as Star Wars characters to walk around the park. It was cool because when we first walked in, there was a whole cast of Mandalorian characters available for a photo opportunity, immediately when you enter the park. Throughout the park, there were Star Wars characters and it was really cool. A problem that I had was that because this was the first night of Star Wars Weekend at Petco Park, but...they didn't do any announcements nor any cool graphics, movie clips, character mentions, etc. on the Jumbotron nor the scoreboard for Star Wars night. It was disappointing because the next day on the news and on social media, we saw that they actually did do something on the scoreboard and Jumbotron for the second night of Star Wars Wekeend. I feel like maybe they were just a little unprepared. Still, having the cast of characters walk around Petco Park the first night, was still cool. On our second visit, we sit in the nosebleeds (Section 305 over Padres Dugout) because we were attending with an organization. Even though it was scary to go up into that steep area, it was such a nice experience as we met some Phillies fans from Australia, who sat next to us. Overall, the vibe and feel up there was fun and very cool. We never really buy the food here anymore because it doesn't taste the same as if you buy it outside of the park, but it is great that they have different options for food. Also, it's very expensive and, for our family, we just can't afford it all the time. We opt to pickup food and bring it in to eat in our seats or at an eating area in the park. This works for our family. The problem that we had on the first night that we attended, was that there was a woman who was not supposed to be sitting behind us. She just popped into the seat with her boyfriend for about three innings, and she was so drunk that she spilled her margarita on the back of my husband's shirt and hat, as well as on the back of my bottom side. I was so so upset,because there were kids and families around, and she was so faded drunk. This was so disappointing. I feel like they never check if people are supposed to be in the right seat, and people can just sort of walk around and sit wherever they want. We pay good money for our seats. This lady was so loud, rowdy, and drunk and there were so many kids and families in our section. It was just really rough having a drunk woman riled up and acting crazy. She did apologize to us (profusely because she was so drunk), and finally her boyfriend took her away. The Padres ended up winning and it made the night a lot better. Overall, just be careful when you find that there's a drunk person sitting in your area because they can totally mess up the whole experience. read more

What I love Food/Drinks: Belle Glos (Quilt Wine Co) is on-site (WHAT) they serve carafes.....LOVE Local beers on-site, had not had Pizza Port in a while, great IPAs Food choices are wonderful and the hot dogs are Hebrew National LOVE Other: This stadium has a general admission area where you can pay to sit in a park-like setting with grass, listen to the game and see it on a huge screen. What a way to let fans enjoy the stadium without the seat prices! Loved, loved this and loved that Petco thinks of their fans. They also yell out WOOOO when someone is walked, loved it! Came into SD to see The Savannah Bananas play at Petco Park. I really appreciate how SD built the stadium and local/outlying neighborhoods with mass transit in mind. We were staying in Old Town, near the Old Town Historic Park and we had a couple of options for taking the trolley to Petco. All of that was good, and where we departed the trolley, at Gaslamp Quarter, we followed the throng of fans to the stadium. I had looked online ahead of time to see the entry rules for bags. Standard, fanny pack size ok, clear bags okay, great, all good, my 7" x 4" banana fanny pack would be fine. But when I got to the security line, ready with my bag open, only credit card holder w/ID and phone inside, a security guard behind, and to my right started saying 'Ma'am, ma'am, your bag is too large.' She was pointing and reaching for it, with one hand and holding up her cardboard measuring guide with the other. At first I was startled and confused, but got that she wanted me to hand her the bag, so I zipped it closed and handed it to her. She placed it on her cardboard and the strap on either side of the fanny pack went beyond her measurement and I started thinking, 'Really? Is she going to reject my fanny pack because the strap crossed the line. She must've seen my panic, or maybe realized it was the strap "overflow" that made it look large, because she then said, 'OK, you're good' and started handing the bag back to me. I hesitated and she repeated, 'You're good. Proceed in.' I turned around and went the direction she indicated, realizing as I approached the escalator to move up, that I had bypassed the metal detector and no one actually LOOKED INTO the purse and I wasn't screened. At that point, hospitality staff was asking if I needed assistance, so I held out my ticket and they directed me up the escalator and to which side of the stadium I should walk to find my seat. Typing this, I'm still a bit perplexed as to how I got pulled from security for a fanny pack "breach of size" only to be told to go ahead and proceed into the park. Later, I would notice the crazy sizes of clear bags people had. I also have a clear "stadium" bag I use for Disneyland and Dodger Stadium, but for Banana Ball, I wanted to wear my yellow banana fanny pack and din't think I would get flagged, but DID plan on being searched, hence 2 items only so it would be easy. Hmm...still a bit puzzled.... Aside from the first experience, all staff after that were pleasant and helpful. This is a beautiful stadium, great location, and I enjoyed all the historic photos running along the outside walls with the Padres club and stadium story. Unfortunately, my seat was in one of the only handful of sections to receive FULL SUN all day, so I never got a chance to sit down. With Banana Ball, you don't choose your seats, they're assigned to you just before the game. Thankfully, Petco doesn't mind people milling about, or standing in certain areas, so I found a lovely, cool, fully shaded wall to enjoy the game from. I tend to dance all the way through Banana Ball, so a seat isn't really needed for me. From where I stood, I had a direct sightline to home plate, a great view the first base foul line and stadium jumbo screens, plus a lovely breeze off the bay. Food. This continues to confuse me as well. Stadiums make efforts to up the quality by bringing in local eateries, so why does the quality decline from the restaurant experience? I get it's not EXACTLY the same set up, but the food should at least resemble what one would find with a PostMates delivery, no? I checked out 3 food kiosks and 2 restaurants and nothing looked appetizing. Also, the inside eating area I walked into was sandwiches served cafeteria style. No A/C or open air for the breeze to come in. It was crowded, hot and an unappetizing area. I grabbed a hot dog from a cart and stood in a nook overlooking the Coronado Bridge and was satisfied. Exiting was a cattle chute experience, but once out, I was able to easily walk to the nearby trolley terminus and had my choice of TWO lines heading back toward Old Town. Overall, I'm glad I got to finally experience this stadium but, in the future, I will eat ahead of time and bring my clear stadium purse. Cheers! "CC" read more

Yes, I was at Petco Park on Tuesday for Ed Sheeran concert! I was not feeling great and coming from Physical therapy and with my daughter so I really wanted to enjoy the night in spite of being uncomfortable! I'd never been there before but our ride dropped us off at the gate and we got the elevator to the 3rd floor- I wanted to say how easy it all was and everyone was so helpful! I love this stadium. This trip tried Friar's Freeze mangonada with vodka slush, and it was the bomb. Lasted me the majority of the game and was a good balanced drink.
