I've been here for concerts and baseball games many times. It's an absolutely massive venue. This past event was a country music concert. I would say security wasn't super crazy I was a little surprised. I had a clear purse so they paid no attention to it whatsoever but did walk through a metal detector. It is fairly quick to get inside. There's a lot of food and beverage options but be aware this is event priced items. I bought two beers for myself and a friend and it cost almost $50 with tip. This wouldn't stop me from coming back here, I've been many times before and I'm sure I'll be back many times after this. Definitely if you have mobility issues be aware of what you're in for which is stairs on stairs. There are very long ramps between the first second and third floors, but to get to any of the seats you do have to take stairs. read more

One of the more enjoyable stadiums. Conveniently located in the city center that gives you the option of using public transportation instead of driving. A huge plus. We parked at a mall and took the trolley over. My family of 8 attended the Filipino Heritage Night with my brother's church group. We took over one corner. There had to be at least 50 of us total. There happened to be swag which for this game was a pretty sick jacket. I will say what I appreciate about this stadium is that they have great food options. Same for drinks. It was actually a little overwhelming having to pick. I ended up going for a long walk checking all the options before deciding on Hodads. Getting out is a breeze. There's a ton of staff when you're exiting I'm assuming to make sure all goes well. Everyone I encountered was super nice. read more

There is a reason Petco Park is the #1 Ballpark in America. The views of the bay and city skyline are spectacular. Although, we have been to Petco Park for many events. This was our first time in the main stadium for a concert. We previously attended Gallagher Square last season. On this visit, we joined the Ed Sheeran Loop Tour. Opening acts included; Sigrid and Myles Smith who entertained us well. The highlight of the show for me was the suprise guest and former local Alex Warren. To hear Ordinary performed by both artists was incredible. I reserved our seats in the Sunset Section and the views were just right. Petco has a solid food selection and even better beverage offerings. I am a fan of Cutwater Spirits and enjoyed the new Lemon Drop Martini and the Grape Vodka Cocktail. My new favorites. I am so happy that the Padres decided to bring back African-American heritage night. After three years of not having African-American heritage night, it showed up on the theme game schedule within the last month or so. I was very excited and hopeful that we would be able to attend in this worked out. Upon arrival, we also noticed that they were giving out Padres ponchos. The ponchos were really cute and so I'm happy that we also were able to receive that item as a giveaway. The African-American heritage night hats were really well designed and looked really nice. What bothered me is that they ran out of seats in the 100 section where we wanted to sit as a group and so we ended up sitting in the 233 section with some other organizations. It was a cool experience and nice to be in community at the Padre game. It was also cool because the Padres actually won and came back from previously losing to the Colorado Rockies. I will say that I appreciate the restroom attendance here. They really do keep the restrooms, clean, tidy and smelling decent. They are also very well stocked with paper towels, soap and working water faucets. The trash cans are never over flowing either. There are so many concessions here that I can't cover them all. I was very impressed that the Pop Pie Company has a presence here. I really appreciate also that they have the Gaglione Brothers, Stone Brewing, Hodads, the donut place, and several others. My favorite thing to get at the Padre games is the Mr. Softee soft serve. Sadly, I didn't get an opportunity to do that on this visit but I'll definitely do it on the next. Gallagher Square and Park at the Park is so well planned and organized and it makes me feel so good to see so many people enjoying this space. My family and I visited Petco Park to watch the Dodgers vs Padres game. Wow! This is a very friendly, well-maintained stadium. Despite our Dodger regalia, Staff consistently smiled and eagerly helped. I was taken aback by Staff's professionalism, charm, and work ethic. Staff friendliness was comparable to Disneyland. I did notice some small arguments between inebriated fans, but I'd quickly saw security appear to settle any issues. I felt safe at Petco Park. Also, it was a little hilarious how 70% attendees appeared to be wearing the white and blue. Food is decent. Unlike Crypto Arena's lazy build-your-own nachos, there's effort and flavor with Petco Park's nachos. Also, I appreciated how the Souvenir Cups had unlimited refills on day of purchase. Petco Park also had a really chill family atmosphere vibe. The decor reminded me of Knotts Berry Farm with all the brown and wooden beams. My family and I didn't even have to pay for parking since we just downloaded the PRONTO app to use the San Diego Trolley fare system; we just rode a trolley over. We'd found a nearby hotel that was literally a one minute walk from a trolley stop. Overall, my family and I had a great time at Petco Park. Although we'd unfortunately visited on a day the Dodgers had lost, the memory was still fun. It's also kinda hilarious how Petco Park dedicated so much time making a "Beat LA" chant which is kinda hilarious. Dodgers are living rent free in San Diego for sure. All in all, I happily recommend especially when the Dodgers come to town. read more

Petco Park is beautiful! It's always a good time going to see the Padres play. Sometimes you even get really lucky with a killer sunset. I've been to a couple other events there and I've always thought they were well put on. The concessions are pretty good, there's a big variety of food and I love all the local craft breweries. It is crazy expensive to eat and drink there. The last time I went, I got a hot pretzel and I went into this little area where they pre-authorize my card and then I just picked up whatever food and drinks I wanted and the camera charged me the appropriate amount when I left. If you live in San Diego, you have to go to a Padres game. The energy is so fun and there is so much to see walking around. The tri-tip nachos are SO good! An's Athletic Field Services is a chance to get An's without a really long line like at their other locations. I got the matcha flavor and it was divine. I will say that the prices are on the highest end of the chart; if you can leave there without spending $100, you should play the lotto because you're lucky. Parking is difficult and expensive near the stadium, but the good news is that the trolley stops nearby. You can leave your car at an MTS Park and Ride stop and take the train to the game. read more

Came here for the soul purpose of the hello kitty jersey! Came a little early to beat the long line and to get the size we want! I think we were in line for less than an hour. The line went smoothly and the jersey is so stinkin cute! Love it! I put mine on while we walked back to the car and everyone in line needed to know the size. Attended the Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean concert. The entry process was very smooth after they finally opened the gates. The concert was amazing and the staff in the ballpark was amazing as well. Especially Ron and his fellow team members in Sec 314. Also the staff at Guest services. The down side of the evening was the exit of the concert. Very unorganized to the point that the city traffic controllers couldn't effectively do there job. Petco with the city should work to better control the crowds as they exit as something can happen where there could be something tragic where people could be killed if a driver decides to just run people over as everyone was walking in the street as if the streets were closed. read more

The entrance line looked intimidating at first, but it was well organized and moved surprisingly fast. Food and drinks lines were on the longer sides, but with so many vendors and options, so it didn't feel so painful. I had the chance to visit Petco Park for the first time to see Ed Sheeran, and I came away just as impressed with the venue as I was with the concert. One of the coolest things about the stadium is its location right in the heart of downtown San Diego. This was my first time watching a MLB baseball game at a stadium other than the SF Giants. Unlike the SF Giants ballpark, which has changed names four times, Petco Park has always had one name. Recently, I was staying across the street and saw there was a game that same day. Luckily, there were still tickets available for a Saturday night game when we checked at the box office. The ball park was fun to check out. There is an area in the back where you can sit and watch the game on a big screen tv (not my desired place to be in the park). In the back, there is also an area where you can sit or stand and watch from the view from behind outfield. We sat at the club level behind home plate and it was the best view. There's lots of good food options in the ballpark including birria nachos and Japanese curry. Their Friar Frank dog was about $9, which was reasonable compared to SF hot dog prices. We only had some small snacks - churro and frozen lemonade, which were just okay. It was a fun experience to check out Petco Park for the first time, except for the fact that the Padres didn't even score one run the entire game against the White Sox. read more

Petco Park is one of the MLB baseball stadiums and is also the home of the San Diego Padres. The ballpark was named America's No. 1 Ballpark by USA Today. The park opened in April 2004 and has hosted many concerts from the first ballpark concert by The Rolling Stones to recent concerts by Green Day and Blink-182. Our party came here for the daily guided tour. [Parking]: Free street parking was available on Sunday and I parked near the intersection of Eighth Ave and Island Ave. There is also a parking structure across from the Western Metal Building Box Office (the 6th & K Parkade) with $1 per hour rate ($15 daily maximum until 6 PM). [Check-in]: Visitors are expected to check in at the Western Metal Building Box Office near the intersection of K St & Tony Gwynn Dr. Tour start times range from 10 AM to 2 PM, so check the website for details. [Ticket]: $41.50 per person plus $1 per ticket fee. [Experience]: The tour was expected to last 80 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 90 minutes. During the tour, our party was able to see the Private Luxury Suite, Cutwater Coronado Club, Padres Hall of Fame (Tony Gwynn aka "Mr. Padre," Trevor Hoffman, Dave Winfield, etc.), Breitbard Hall of Fame, Blue Shield Home Plate Club, Press Box, Field Warning Track (including sitting in the dugout with photo opportunities), and the Visitors Clubhouse. The tour guide was fairly knowledgeable. One interesting fact I learned was that there is no left-field foul pole & the corner of the Western Metal Building serves as the left-field foul pole. In addition, visitors get 10% off at the Padres Team Store and Bub's at the Ballpark with their tour tickets (valid only on the day of the tour). Unfortunately, the Team Store was closed during the day of our visit. [Conclusion]: While Petco Park doesn't have the rich history as Dodger Stadium or Wrigley Field, it is still a fine ballpark in its own right with beautiful waterfront views. read more

The rumors are true. Petco Park is definitely one of the best MLB stadiums! We were shocked it was so packed on a Tuesday and the vibe was very chill and friendly. Great food stands, including Hodads and Mister Softee right next to each other. We enjoyed the bbq burger with onion rings and my son was thrilled to see his favorite ice cream at the park. That kept him quiet for maybe one inning, haha. There's so much to do outside of the seats too. There was a huge stage with screens and music. And beyond that is a HUGE kids playground. It's built for 5-10 years old but that didn't stop my little one. He had a blast climbing and going down the insane slides. We had such a great time and would love to return for another game in the future. read more

Getting a ride share after the concert is a bit tricky and darn near impossible. We had to walk a mile and a half before we could get a ride back to our hotel. This was my first time seeing a Padres game at this stadium. I forgot how fun it was to watch a live game. Loved all the excitement from the crowd and did my share of screaming and cheering. I arrived early, so I had lots of time to check out the Hello Kitty merch at the Padres Team Store. Got a tote bag and plushie to add to my growing collection! I was impressed with the flow of security and ticket check. I had anticipated a never ending line that crawled slowly, but that wasn't the case at all. I've been to many stadiums and I have to say this is my least favorite. Obviously every stadium will be crowded but this one just feels like a chaotic mess. I feel like the space isn't open enough for the size of the crowds so you will constantly have someone right next to you. I do think it's better to go to a night event because the day ones are very hot and the sun is beating right down on you. I think the security people were nicer than the people working the food services. The food was ok and not worth it. I also think the stadium being right in downtown makes it so much more chaotic as to getting in or leaving. Overall not too bad but I would rather not go here again. read more

It made the whole experience easy, fast, and inexpensive without having to worry about parking or traffic. I loved this stadium. New York Met fan FO life but I was visiting San Diego from New York and thought it would be fun to go to a Padres game and it WAS FUN. First off, what a breeze getting into the stadium, just organized and easy, I was shocked. People in California are so chill, it's bizarre. I swear I didn't hear one honk of road rage my entire trip. Anyways, they had this grass seating area you could sit at inside the stadium, adorable. A massive sand pit in the outfield, how cool. The sunset as I was walking up to my seats, a dream. The people, friendly! The Diet Coke, REFRESHING. (Even though side note the guy charged me $14 for a souvenir cup when I didn't want a souvenir cup obviously not going to have a Padres cup in my cabinet but you know what, that's OK because the whole experience of being at this stadium was so lovely, give me a cup, charge me an obscene amount for a soda, whatever dude!) There were so many food options it was overwhelming in a good way, so many bars to hang out at in the stadium, cool crowd, highly recommend coming here for a game even if you're not a fan. read more

San Diego has every right to be proud of this stadium. Definitely top-tier among MLB parks. Background Attended a Saturday evening game in early May. Great weather (because, San Diego), partly cloudy skies, temperature in the mid-60's. We had lower-tier seats on third-base line, just a handful of rows up from the dugout, Chicago White Sox were in town. Sadly, the Pale Sox pasted the Pad's 4-0. Stadium Petco truly checks all of the boxes of a great ballpark. Downtown location - sure thing, the nearby Gaslamp District has numerous restaurants, bars and hotels to complement your visit. Easy access - yes, including ample garage parking and nearby train service Open air - of course Excellent viewing lines throughout the stadium - yes Seating close to the action - you bet Avid fanbase - 42,000 attend virtually every game, so, yep Outfield view - great, and I mean GREAT, view of the city skyline Stadium lighting / sound - unfortunately, our game was pretty much a snooze fest so difficult to judge. I've seen videos of the crowd and stadium sound system roaring, and also of a great home run firework celebration. Sadly, we didn't get to experience any of this. Anything iconic? - well, there's the Western Metal Supply Building which literally serves as the left-field foul pole. So, yeah! It's difficult to find anything I'd improve. Cushioned seats would be nice, we've had those in a couple parks. Maybe....bring back The Chicken? The Friar doesn't exactly excite me. So, is this THE best MLB park? Well....there's some tough competition for the #1 spot. Personal taste and sentiment inevitably come to play on this. For now, I'll simply keep to my comment, Petco is definitely among the very best parks to watch a ballgame. Food The foot-long franks were fine, not the best but certainly far from the worst. Overall, there's an abundance of food options. Japanese curry anyone? Kombucha? Pop pies (a local favorite, close cousin of a pot pie)? Anything Unusual The game started at 5:40 pm which is unusual for me. I enjoyed the earlier start, gave us extra time to enjoy a couple drinks at a local bar after the game. Visiting all 30 stadiums, and this was number 8. I was very impressed with Petco, seriously. This stadium was clean, newer feeling and easy to navigate (which I love). What I love Food/Drinks: Belle Glos (Quilt Wine Co) is on-site (WHAT) they serve carafes.....LOVE Local beers on-site, had not had Pizza Port in a while, great IPAs Food choices are wonderful and the hot dogs are Hebrew National LOVE Other: This stadium has a general admission area where you can pay to sit in a park-like setting with grass, listen to the game and see it on a huge screen. What a way to let fans enjoy the stadium without the seat prices! Loved, loved this and loved that Petco thinks of their fans. They also yell out WOOOO when someone is walked, loved it!
