Big shout out to Erin, for being so accommodating. Booked this tour through Expedia, to which different areas of the confirmation email have different addresses to meet up. Of course, I ended up at the wrong place. To meet this guide, find them amidst the craziness of Union Square wearing a ghost t-shirt, and holding a lantern. Erin called me, and met me with the group at our first spot, and the rest was smooth sailing. Walking tour, wear comfy shoes. There are parts where we needed to go uphill as well, the guide did take adequate stops, to ensure that we were still all following, because no one gets left behind. I got way more than I expected to from this experience and even got some food recommendations of where to eat afterwards. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this particular tour and I would do it again in a heartbeat. read more

Boo! [As in the 'boo' of disapproval, not the 'boo' of a ghost.]. Ok, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a seasoned ghost tour veteran. I've only done two other ones. But geez, I know low-quality when I see it. First, the good. Our tour guide had great energy. It was her first night on the job and she had the tour route and script nailed down. She was charming and patient. Also, this was a great part of town (Nob Hill) for a tour, with a lot of special history, beautiful buildings, and stunning views. Now, the bad (and there's a lot more bad than good). The whole tour is outside (nothing you can't access on your own). There were just around ~6 stops/stories over the entire 1-hour/1-mile. We had a very sweet woman with serious mobility issues in our group, which made it difficult with pacing. In her defense, nothing on the site mentioned the strenuous exercise and steep inclines of the walk. Also, our guide didn't have the loudest voice, speaking on loud streets, and didn't think to use a PA system, so we struggled to hear her. In short, this just wasn't worth the price of tickets for our family of four ($26 x 4 + tip = $114). We might have had a better experience to have done just a bit of research and put together our own walking tour, or to have tried a competitor. But I'd certainly suggesting ghosting this company! read more

Take a walk on the wild side, I thought and what could be better than going on a ghost tour in one of the oldest cities in California? Did a quick search and San Francisco Ghosts Booze & Boos sounded intriguing. Signing up was easy and I was sent several reminders for the time and day. If you're not from San Francisco (like me), trying to figure out where to park is tough. I used North Beach Parking Services at 735 Vallejo since it's a good location to explore Chinatown and Little Italy. Plus being across the street from the SF Police Department helps to give a little better feeling on safety. We waited at the High Horse Bar for our tour guide and the rest of our group. Michael showed up promptly and said that my wife and I were the only ones for that night's tour. I was concerned the tour would be cancelled but Michael decided to proceed anyway. For those that don't know what a bar crawl is, the group will visit a bar with paranormal experiences and during the visit, will be entertained by the guide with events of supernatural happenings. If you want to sample some of the SF's unique drinks during the visit, you can but will need to pay for it on your own. Otherwise, you're welcome to sit and listen. We started at the High Horse then went to the Basque Hotel Bar then walked down Stockton while Michael entertained us with stories of the early days of SF. Never knew there was a Barbary Coast and Devil's Acre in SF before. There is walking involved so have good shoes and walking sticks or perhaps a cane for some of the steeper areas. It was a great experience to learn about the seedier side of SF. Well worth the money and ask for Michael as your tour guide if you go on the SF Ghost Tour. read more

This was the first tour we did in San Francisco and it really set the tone. Jamie was an exceptional host/guide. He was patient and explained everything very thoroughly, and you can tell he was genuinely excited to share the stories with you. We did the 10pm extended tour and ended up being just two of us + Jamie. Also, the hills are no joke. We managed okay but Jamie told us several times we can take a break whenever we needed. We didn't feel rushed at all. Fun, informative, well worth the cost. Bring good walking shoes, a water bottle, and maybe a jacket if you're doing the later tours, the wind can be chilly. read more
