This is the federal regulation for recommendations for school bus seating capacity
    Erin E.

SEATING CAPACITY FOR THE BUSES IS UNSAFE. The older kids are being forced to sit 3 to a seat, thereby not adhering to federal regulations that all children on a seat must be fully in the seat and not halfway and hanging into the aisle. The seats are designed so that in the incident of a collision, the children will be protected by the seat in front of them. The sports teams are taking 2 teams at a time on the short bus for middle and high school students. This is also true for field trips. On a recent field trip for the 6th grade classes, the students were 3 to a seat, with the third child not fully in the seat, and therefore not protected by the seat in front of them. According to an employee of the school, the school does not plan on replacing the large bus that has broken down, which is the reason why our kids' safety is being compromised. I used to love this school. I am so disappointed now. Class sizes are huge, which takes away from the whole point of having my kids in a charter school. Pick up and drop off are horrible, as are the giant, pointy rocks they have in place of gravel. I can't even drive through the parking lot anymore because I don't really want to put new tires on my car. They must have bought the cheapest gravel possible. Whatever happened to real gravel? The little ones you can walk and drive on without ruining your shoes or tires. Now there are a lot of parents, including myself, who drop off in the neighborhood right there where the school is, and the downfall to that is that the recent graduates from the year before, who are now the traffic-directing crossing guards, make the kids line up in a group that goes around the corner--I'd say 60-75 kids--before they let the kids cross the in/out gates and enter the campus. I drop my kids off at 7:15, and they are usually on campus late. School starts at 7:45! Why are the kids being forced to wait for 30 minutes on a street corner? I could go on and on about the things that are worse this year compared to last year, but the review would be so long that nobody would have enough time to read it.

I am a current highschool student but have transferred from this school . I would like to open the…read moreeyed of the people with my review . Teachers- - The teacher's here are bar none! Dont get me wrong some are bad but majority are great and care a lot for their students! . I had a history teacher and since moving I keep her updated on how I do academically and she helps to encourage me even tho I'm not in her class anymore . Cleanliness- - The janitors who come to clean afterschool and those who clean during school hours are great at what they do , rarely do you see a cluster of trash . very nice clean campus and classes Academics- - After being transferred to a different school, I finally realized how good my education was at this school . This school offers one AP class for sophomores which is AP World History , then Jr and Senior year you can take an AP class for every core subject . As for freshman there is advanced math and a pre-AP English course . This school even offers IB courses . (ps. I highly recommend AP History if your student is a sophomore!) Students- - Now here is the tricky part . This school is not dominated by one ethnicity or race like many other school in inner cities . this school is very diverse. There are rowdy groups of friends but not to much trouble . Most fights are over dumb things not gang related. This school doesnt have a bully problem. Facilities- - The classrooms compared to the school I am at now are nice and big. While attending this school most my classes had 30+ kids but never felt cramped. This school had two gyms , the main gym is the one used for the basketball games and stuff like that . the other "small" gym was the schools original gym which only consisted of a basketball court , no bleachers .... But since leaving the small gym has been remodeled to be a crossfit/ weight training / exercise room. This school also has a separate gym with bycycles , a tread mill , an machines , etc ... All brand new . As for lunch , you go to cafeteria lines then all seatings are outside. There is also a stadium for soccer and football. School Spirit- - This school has a lot of spirit from students but also staff. Sports- - The sports teams are great and a lot of funding goes into them especially football , girls& boys soccer , girls basketball. The football team is legendary. The soccer teams are fun to watch . this school offers sports from tennis to golf to football . no aquatic sports tho . Electives- - This school offers a variety of electives from welding and woodworking to catering and photography . there are also things like floral , which basically you make stuff with flowers . there is foreign languages like spanish and French , along with art and ceramics. Etc. Type Things - - This highschool is the only highschool in the San jacinto unified school district so a lot of funding goes into it hence the new football jerseys every year , avid college trips , good lunch , pep rally like no other and CHROMEBOOKS FOR EVERY STUDENT . yes , every student gets a laptop for school and can access their textbooks through it but you can also use a normal textbook . the Chromebooks are the students to take home and everything as long as they are enrolled in the highschool . so when you graduate and or transfer you have you give them back . Overall- - Sjhs is such a great school , the teachers and staff are awesome , students are chill . lots of events for college exposure . The education you get here is way better than any inner city school .

COMMUNiTY-FOCUSED SCHOOL! Sure, SJHS is due for a remodel and there's some room for improvement…read morewith school policy. However, this site is always available to the community and involved in local events! I've had several friends and coworkers attend here and they had wonderful things to say about the educators who changed their lives! I recently attended the Annual SJ Fun Run and it was such a nice experience! Dr. Record and the SJUSD staff did an amazing job planning this event! The school has a pool, track, two-story buildings and large outdoor corridors. It's close to several fast food options and about a 4 min drive away from Stater Bros and some restaurants.

HONEST review! When moving back to California, I was anxious…read moreabout where I would begin education for my littles after leaving a small town. By the grace of God Springs Charter Schools entered my radius of heavy searching! My first impression of the campus was to my surprise, "small town vibes." The principal Mrs. Slaten, was so well rounded in her abilities. I knew If I felt safe in her energy, my babies would too! So I signed them up immediately! At the time, I opted to do the learning center 2 days on campus 3 days at home, to see how my kiddos would do. I have 3 children, my oldest began at the Cherry Valley Learning Center program with Springs for the first 2 years. My daughter became old enough to do kindergarten through this same program with our wonderful ES (education specialist) Mrs. Mindy. Whom we'd see monthly to check in on assignments. (We miss her ) My littles excelled and learned so much fun stuff through curriculums of their choice. Soon after my youngest son was coming of age for Kindergarten, I realized, he was not going to be a good candidate for the at-home learning program because he said he wanted teachers and a classroom So I decided to try the academy program, 3 days at school 2 days of at-home learning for all my kiddos. They have been attending the Cherry Valley Campus now for the past 2 years, and LOVE it! Every year seems to get better & better. More resources, optimal changes that cater to the children's needs, educational/fun after-school clubs, REACH Fridays for extra help with HW packets for those at-home learning days, a loving principal & vice principal, CARING teachers, a plethora of activities, and even a food truck for free lunches! Any concerns regarding mild foul language (stupid etc) that might need addressing, get addressed! I love that they pride themselves on Kindness & Respect. We need a lot more of that these days. Overall, the development of this newer Springs location at Cherry Valley Student Center has superseded my expectations. We have nothing but good things to say. I'd rather not post pictures for privacy reasons but if you are on the fence and want a safe, caring, supportive, and educational space for your child/children to learn and thrive, BOTH program options are wonderful! Check it out and see for yourself. Signed- A Mama Bear & her Cubs
