This school is horrible!!! The security yell at little children and they overall are useless to parents. The school doesn't teach the children anything and the substitutes are overdramatic and let the kids do whatever they want. 0/10 do not recommend read more

After yet another year of giving this school another go I'm sad to report that it has gotten even worst, the pick up system with kinders attending. The only reason I have the kids here is because it saves me from driving to 3 different schools if separated but I am trying a different charter next year and the fact that public schools around are terrible. There were so many people let go off last year and there is inappropriate behavior from staff towards students mostly the physical education teachers. There is politics going on from enrollment to sports where kids with no skills make it just because the coaches know their family my son is good at sports but before trials the team is selected why waste their time. They have teachers that can't even navigate Google classroom. It's all about numbers and no quality education. The lady in the front desk is always talking to people about her personal life and making others wait forever. read more

Would you trust a President/Leader aka Paul Huynh of a school if he... brought his family, making an exception of the only non high schooler in attendance, on a High School trip across the country only to selfishly choose the first flight from the options of a 6AM, 8AM, or 1PM flight home leaving behind his students and staff/chaperones in a different country? Ya I would not either. The selfish actions of choosing to get home before confirming your students made it back safe from another country are so despicable and most definitely not leadership. Shame on you Paul! Over the years I have felt Paul was not the best leader, this recent display confirmed it for me and has led me to be happy with the decision that my nephew will no longer be attending. SJVA needs a leader that will PUT HIS STUDENTS FIRST!!! read more

Don't recommend this school at all. Academic are great and all but my son can home saying that none of his teachers gave him water when they told the students that they will be providing water to them, due to covid. One time my son went to get water from the office, one of the workers told him to limit his water because he was hogging the water. That was really unprofessional for a grown ass adult to tell my son that he's hogging up the water. Also, my son tells me that whenever he tries to use the restroom they're always clogged up or out of service, and when he goes to the office for the restroom the staff don't let him use it. Also the office staff is extremely rude I remember going in there one time, this gal with glasses was looking at me up and down and in a rudely manner said "what are u here for". Hire better people and actually care for your students. read more

I don't know how other mothers can not recommend this school. My children are studying here the third year. This school has the best teachers, the best program especially for the high school. Here is IB program, free tutors, free football, basketball, piano, guitar and flight program! SJVA is a number ONE school in California! Highly recommend this school to all parents!!! read more

SEATING CAPACITY FOR THE BUSES IS UNSAFE. The older kids are being forced to sit 3 to a seat, thereby not adhering to federal regulations that all children on a seat must be fully in the seat and not halfway and hanging into the aisle. The seats are designed so that in the incident of a collision, the children will be protected by the seat in front of them. The sports teams are taking 2 teams at a time on the short bus for middle and high school students. This is also true for field trips. On a recent field trip for the 6th grade classes, the students were 3 to a seat, with the third child not fully in the seat, and therefore not protected by the seat in front of them. According to an employee of the school, the school does not plan on replacing the large bus that has broken down, which is the reason why our kids' safety is being compromised. I used to love this school. I am so disappointed now. Class sizes are huge, which takes away from the whole point of having my kids in a charter school. Pick up and drop off are horrible, as are the giant, pointy rocks they have in place of gravel. I can't even drive through the parking lot anymore because I don't really want to put new tires on my car. They must have bought the cheapest gravel possible. Whatever happened to real gravel? The little ones you can walk and drive on without ruining your shoes or tires. Now there are a lot of parents, including myself, who drop off in the neighborhood right there where the school is, and the downfall to that is that the recent graduates from the year before, who are now the traffic-directing crossing guards, make the kids line up in a group that goes around the corner--I'd say 60-75 kids--before they let the kids cross the in/out gates and enter the campus. I drop my kids off at 7:15, and they are usually on campus late. School starts at 7:45! Why are the kids being forced to wait for 30 minutes on a street corner? I could go on and on about the things that are worse this year compared to last year, but the review would be so long that nobody would have enough time to read it. read more

I took off my kids in the middle of the year and started homeschooling them because the teacher bullied my autistic boy. They did not respect IEP's they don't care for the students at all. They have a zero bully policy and they never did anything for my kid. The discipline manager put my son in an office and told him he was bad . my son was terrified , had nightmares about him and the teacher. Once she told me that she could not stop the class for my kid so her solution was to tell him to put his head down. And be on detention. No security at all for the kids. Twice kids went locked down for bomb threat and some other reasons. Very disorganized school in all aspects . please read the news about the personal and her path through other schools. I have seen some of the people that used to work there and none have a good experience working there. I can go on and on with all my experince.... Not good. read more

Best kept secret in the valley. Really great staff and education. It's a charter school so learn what services that it provides and which ones they outsource like special ed (SJUSD) and bus services (HUSD). It's three schools on one campus (elementary, middle & high school) so it's busy. As a parent I am heavily involved and my help is always appreciated.. looking forward to every year. On the topic of bad reviews about this school, rule breaker parents usually don't do well here. read more
