Thinking back to our very first visit, I was immediately struck by how exceptionally friendly, warm, and welcoming both the staff and the wider parent community were. My daughter instantly formed a wonderful bond with Ms. Stella, and we have proudly been part of this incredible dance family for four wonderful years now. Purdance offers a fantastic variety of dance classes, catering to different interests and skill levels, backed by an awesome team of talented teachers for every single style. One of the absolute highlights of the year is their annual recital--it is the most magical day, seeing all the hard work, growth, and joy of the entire year of dance finally come to life on stage. I cannot recommend this dance studio for parents looking to lift up young girls…read more My daughter was interested in Kpop dancing, and is in an awkward bubble age of being too old (~10) for the "mini" class and at the cusp of too young for the"Junior" pre-teen class. She definitely isn't a great dancer, but she practices and tries her hardest. This is just a fun class for girls, not elite or comp. Things started off well but then she started leaving with tears in her eyes. She says that the teacher was leaving her out of the routine and so she was sitting around most of the time, not understanding why. No explanation. I urgently asked for a callback to understand the situation. No callback. I asked the teacher, Mr Garret, next week in person. He says she wasn't getting it but he would include her more. I asked him to speak to her about her so she could feel supported and understand and how she can improve. He says he didn't have time to talk to her and said he would next week. He never did. Not excusable. My daughter continued to come back with tears in her eyes. She says that 2 other girls were giggling and laughing when she made a mistake. She didn't want to make a fuss or quit before the performance. The performance came, and she fell behind in the rehearsal. She told me a few days later that everyone laughed at her. She just did box breathing to focus and did great in the performance. It was a proud moment for our family. *I then receive an email saying that she needs to go to the class where she is overaged OR just take the SAME class but on a different day to free up space for a better dance*. Reason: she wasn't dancing well enough; wasn't fitting in socially; the class was "full" and she's kicked out. Wait, she's still being invited to the same skill but on a different day despite being a bad dancer? I was shocked and disappointed. Instead of optimizing for the culture of the class, they instead optimize against the student for not fitting in. She's not a great dancer, but she's young, tried hard, and was trying to fit in even with tears in her eyes every day. We have dropped Purdance with no hesitation and she now uses her experience as her way of being able to hold her breath to perform amidst an unsupportive environment.

The way the moves are taught make it easy for you to learn the routine and gives you plenty of practice. I still make a fool of myself but it's so fun! And you also get to see more advanced dancers killing it, which is pretty cool. The space itself has two rooms. The main one is pretty big, may for like 20 people. I dig the art, pictures, and record albums. Parking - I took an evening class so I didn't have any issues. Street parking right in front. Customer Service - Marquee (Marky) was the instructor. Great guy! He was patient, fun, and creative. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Gotta love a good dance studio. I get the price...San Jose ain't cheap but glad to see the arts continuing. This was great with good acoustics, space, floor, and community. Props to the owners and the instructors here. My daughter has been dancing with her for the past two years, and I can't express enough how much of a positive impact she's had. After an awful experience with a previous coach, my daughter had completely lost her love for dance. I promised her that if we tried one more time at a new studio, things would be different -- and WVDC, along with Miss B, have far exceeded that promise. Miss Basma's patience, enthusiasm, and genuine care have completely reignited my daughter's passion. She's thriving again -- excited for every class, dedicated, and full of joy. Miss B always takes the time to connect with her students and parents, and she's consistently cheerful and encouraging. I honestly don't think I've ever seen her without a big, genuine smile! She will never fully know the impact she's had on my daughter -- and I'm certain she's made the same difference for so many other little dancers. My daughter's had some fun opportunities to perform at the Warriors games, soccer games, and winter shows at Santana Row and Eastridge mall! They have an annual "Hoike" (recital) every summer which is fun and rewarding to see them perform. Pam, the owner is easy to communicate with via text and is very responsive with any questions.
