Came here with some friends last night. I didn't catch her name but our server was really nice. Personable, friendly, and on top of things. Took our food and drink orders, all which came fairly quick. I got the enchiladas suiza, chicken enchiladas with some kind of sauce (can't remember the name) and Spanish rice. All of it was good. I also got a blue Hawaiian, but it wasn't my personal favorite, as it was really sour. Other than that, 5/5. Good prices and good food. Hope to come back soon. read more

I ordered the San Jose nachos to go twice now and both times they seemed to not know what they were apparently. It only came with chicken, queso, and chips both times (I added my own sour cream.) It's supposed to come with chicken, chorizo, bacon, pico, sour cream, and the pickled jalapeños. The only time my order of these nachos came correct was when i ordered through DoorDash. I was overcharged for my meal and after speaking with someone I was informed I would have to drive down to the restaurant to get the refund or if I wanted I could get a discount on my next meal, but I would have to do it within a week. Just stumbled across this place looking for a nearby Mexican restaurant, and boy dis we make the right choice! Carnitas are probably the best I've ever had ... cooked perfectly, marinade was delicious, and perfect portion size. Street tacos were also great!! And the service was friendly and attentive. This location by far has the best food out of all the San Joses in town. It's about 10 miles off of I-95 so you'll have a bit of a distance to drive. Great Mexican food though! This is a family business and there are several in this county and a few in neighboring counties! I love the chicken burrito supremes or the chile poblano with a side of corn tortillas with rice and beans. Always great customer service and atmosphere. read more

As the BBQ places were all shut down for the day here at 930 PM I decided to try this Mexican place. Was not disappointing. Had a dish called "Steak Chipotle" . The meat was not the greatest cut but the sauce on this was really good along with the vegetables. Reminded me sort of Thai like with a slight kick to it. Usually in these places the refried beans and rice take up most of the plate but this was not the case here. Also really good sweat tea but that comes with the geography! Absolutely spectacular. Me and two of my friends ordered take out. I ordered the shrimp street tacos and homemade guacamole! 10/10 My friend had a burrito Mexicano and said it was outstanding, amazing queso sauce, perfect ratio with each bite, one of the best burritos she ever had. This place is a joke we drove about 15 mins outta of the way. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated we placed the kids order for hamburger and chicken fingers. The kids ate all their food I think chef microwave made their food. My wife ordered fish tacos the server Said the shrimp were very thick. When her food arrived it looked like the shrimp had been on a long vacation in the freezer box and shrunk to the size of raisin. The tacos looked dead no color no fresh ingredients. Bought $48 worth of takeout food received $20 worth of food. The taco meat was dry and the ingredients were separate from the tacos with the dry beef. The wings were trash, fed them to my dog. The fish was fried whole and was way too overcooked just like the rice. the avocado they gave me with the salad was nasty and fully brown after 10min of driving from this place to my apartment. Lastly, the worst thing I have ever experienced was them lying to me and getting away with not giving me the right items. They didn't give me my Mexican steak entree worth almost $12 not to mention the items you ordered aren't on the receipt. They didn't even give me a legible receipt. We were a bit apprehensive about this place at first. Being from southern California, home to some of the best Mexican food in the country, and frankly North Carolina didn't really strike us as a place that would have excellent Mexican food. This is the only game in town for "Mexican" food. Like nearly all other Mexican restaurants in the U.S., this is highly Americanized. The salsa is decent, as is the food. The prices are reasonable. I really was in the mood for some southern cooking, but 'Linda is closed with no warning or notice. So that left me at San Jose. The food was very good. I have to say, this place has some quite decent food. I'm an extremely picky eater, so it's hard for me to just eat anything. However, the fajita lunch nachos are my absolute favorite! (Even though it's kinda the only thing I'll try, hehe) I always order it with beef (steak) and it comes in that creamy white cheese sauce that is just nummy. I try to steer clear of dining in though, because I always seem to get stuck with crappy waitresses who never check in on me and refill my glass of water,(mind you, I'm sitting there dying, practically choking to death because I'm not a big hot/spicy eater) but maybe it's just me. Anyways, I usually stick to just ordering out with a side of the queso cheese dip and mild salsa (the hot is just too much, but it's still tasty!) I honestly recommend this place if you're craving authentic and real Mexican food (not that kangaroo meat from Taco Bell, yikes!). read more

I decided to try this restaurant because of the positive reviews. It was the only place in Pembroke with a rating of more than 4 stars. I grew up on Mexican food. Detroit has a large Mexican population. You can find some great, reasonably priced Mexican food there. As such, I was hoping to find a hidden gem. With that said, none of what I just wrote matters because I couldn't even get past the poor service. The server acted as if it was an inconvenience to answer questions about the menu. Taqueria Leon in Red Springs is much better. This place doesn't really offer many healthy options and the service is generally bad. It was good for a few months when it opened in 2009 or so but now I avoid it when I can. read more
