We stopped by this wonderful restaurant on our drive from NY to Florida to catch a World Cup game on TV. So glad we did!! What an incredible date night for two chickens. Me and my emo girlfriend who I'm not allowed to look at sometimes came in on a beautiful crispy Sunday night looking for some rice and beans and tequila. We were enthusiastically greeted and sat at a lovely pod like table with chairs that looked like benches and were also attached to the wall. They were really comfortable and I liked it better than a normal table. I think everytime I go into a restaurant I'm gonna ask for one and if I can't have it I'll speak to the manager or yell at a minor or something epic like that. We were given salsa and menus and left to our own devices which is never good. My gopher girl asked for the hot green salsa and decided to eat it!!!!!! It was Pwetty fweaking cwazy if you ask me. Good mouth feel though I liked the salsa and it was even better with chips believe it or not. We order quickly with our very attentive and attractive server and spot some opps from across the restaurant. Tis okay their pod-like table was across the restaurant and they couldn't see us. Me and bae just gabbed and she allowed me to look at her! This is what happens when you pay the bill ;) I got a burrito and enchilada and rice and beans. You guys the best meal in the world is rice and beans. All you need in this life is a spoon and rice and beans to be happy, successful, beautiful, and fearless. Swear. Very good times. Lumberton does not have many family/friends dinning restaurants with nice vibe.This became our go to Mexican restaurant when we have guests come over or occasions. Its tucked in corner next to highway slightly outside the busier areas , so location could have been little better The place though has great ambiance , service is great , Food comes out fast. We have tried a lot of different vegetarian combos , different burritos , tacos , Fajitas. Portion sizes are big for the money. Everything seemed freshly prepared and tasted really good. Great food, love the kick in the salsa . Very nice that this establishment recognizes and honors veterans. People don't understand the sacrifices veterans make. There are no holidays when u serve. It's all about the mission. We spend countless days away from family and friends on deployments. When we get the call, we go wherever we're ordered and we return home when the mission is complete. Great authentic food, right off 95. We only came for appetizers and alcohol, but ended with all that and then some! I ordered a Liquid Marijuana (drink) and my man got a Sangria!! Needless to say my drink is kickin in, so if this review goes into left field blame it on the AL-co-HOL! Both drinks were very delicious and refreshing. Mine was strong how I like. Mojarra (whole tilapia) was NOT cleaned before frying. The fish was served COVERED in fish scales. Side note: I was told this is how they serve the fish. Fish scales are NOT EDIBLE! Such a huge disappointment. This is the 2nd time I've had their mojarra. The first time it was fried so hard none of the fish was edible...it was fried hard like cracklings. You are better off driving to Lumberton to get great Mexican food. I'm leaving here, after returning the fish to the kitchen, to drive to Lumberton myself. Food was bland ordered chipotle chicken enchiladas and no flavor and small. Spanish rice was terrible tasted like it was plain rice. I ate Mexican all over the US I am a truck driver and this was a poor excuse for enchiladas. The service was poor too waitress was more involved with her phone than asked us if everything was okay after we ate it. I told her it wasn't good but she acted like she didn't give a dam. The reviews for this place do not lie. Delicious Mexican food with very affordable prices. We were staying in Lumberton for the night and called in a take out order, since San Jose Mexican just happened to be across the street from our hotel. When I got there, my order was ready for pick-up. I had ordered the Three Vegetable Enchiladas. They were heartily stuffed with zucchini, mushrooms, corn, and spinach. So delicious! The restaurant has taken a whole strip mall and made it into this wonderful place. A place to eat, drink, and be merry. This is not all. Those who do not wish to be around all the hustle and bustle of the restaurant has a second option just out the door and down the walkway is their cantina. Yes, a mexican bar where one can just have a few tecate's or tequila shots, or whatever one desires. Parking is a bit tight and the place is quite popular. Just pay attention and all will be fine. What an awesome find! Just happened to see San Jose while passing through- it's 40 minutes from home, but my husband liked the Chipotle Enchiladas so much he said he'd come back just for that meal.
