I was in a jam. I was headed up to Petaluma to see my best friend for her birthday BUT INSISTED SHE DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING. I couldn't go empty handed! My mom suggested I stop at the grocery store to get her flowers. Perfect. When I did a search, not expecting to find anything matching because of covid, these guys were open. I wasnt far so drove over & the woman was beyond friendly. She helped me decide on an orchid for my friend. This wasn't just any regular orchid though- it was some massive, unusual orchid. She gave me a great deal on it, she said because it was my first time in. I ended up giving her extra just because I was so grateful. It came in the most beautiful container as well, almost like a large Moscow Mule. She also helped me get it to my car which was good because I would've broken off at least one of the stem things. read more

Unrelated to flowers at all but good information about the owner's attitude. I had my daughter and two of her friends with me (all age 7) and they were playing around in the public space in the little inset area in front of her shop. It's a spot where kids always play while their parents dine at Mary's (now gone but there for years with kids playing there) or Trailhead. The girls were not being loud or running around. The woman left her shop and began speaking with them. I didn't initially approach because my naive assumption was that she was possibly telling them to be safe or something along those lines. One of the girls then picked up a rock and walked to another raised bed looking for a place to put it. she looked very confused. The woman continued talking to one of the girls but I could not hear what she was saying. As the girl with the rock returned to her friend with the woman I heard the woman raise her voice and say "can you do this one, she's REFUSING to". Ar this point I approached and asked what was going on. The woman said the girls had put rocks in a space that left it unusable for other people. I asked what she meant when she said one was refusing and she said that she was refusing to put the rock back. Later on the girls told me that the rocks had already been there, which is why they were confused and "refused" to return it, they had no idea where it had come from! This woman verbally accosted and terrified three little girls who were playing with rocks. She even threatened to tell their jiu jitsu teacher (thinking that because they were in gis they attend the new dojo up there). Lets add threatening into this. read more

I went there for our wedding flowers, because my mother in law said they were great. My experience: First meeting was great, they were nice and gave me good recommendations. We had to pay beforehand: $ 400 for the bridal bouquet (with king proteas), 3 bridesmaids bouquets (small simple hydrangeas) and 4 boutonniere for groomsmen and my husband - nothing too crazy. Then shortly before the wedding I got a call: they couldn't get the king proteas for my bouquet. We agreed on hydrangeas instead. They didn't offer to lower the price even though the king proteas are much more expensive than hydrangeas. Day of: All the bridesmaids bouquets lasted for only 2 hours before they turned brown! Mine was the only one that lasted. It was hot but if that was the reason why did my bouquet last? We barely used the bouquets for the pictures - they just looked too awful. And we definitely couldn't use the flowers for the ceremony! I wrote a nice email to San Marin flowers, saying that I was disappointed about the quality and that I thought a partial refund would be appropriate. Not just because the BM bouquets were really bad but also because I paid for more expensive flowers in my bouquet. I never got an answer. I resent the same email - nothing. Sorry, but this is a horrible, horrible customer service. Example of much better customer service: We rented a party bus from Blacktie (btw absolutely recommend them). They couldn't deliver the right vehicle due to technical problems. The driver gave me a nicely written card from the manager. He was so sorry, here is the best driver, congratulations and: we got a partial refund WITHOUT EVEN ASKING FOR IT! read more

What a big disappointment when ordering flowers from here for our Aunt's Funeral. They even personally knew her and chose to send a much skimpier version of the floral spray we ordered. The flowers were dying the day of the services. The person at the store took no ownership of the terrible display of flowers we received, even after seeing the pictures. We were offered a minimal refund. Should have been more, considering the cost and the personal relationship they had. read more

I wanted to send a birthday bouquet, but didn't find what I was looking for in the arrangements offered on-line. I called San Marin Florist and spoke to a nice gentleman. I told him what I wanted to spend and as the flowers were being delivered to a small office, asked that they not include any flowers that had a strong fragrance. We used San Marin Flowers for our wedding, which was last October 26th in Novato. We were getting married in my mother's backyard, and we wanted an experience that wasn't overly stuffy or formal, but also respected the occasion. And, as we're two guys that was another factor in the flower equation. My mother recommended San Marin Flowers as she's used them many times over the years, and I'm so glad she did. My fiance chose to watch a football game rather than go discuss flower arrangements, so my mom and I met with Pam together. I told her what we were hoping for in terms of an overall experience, we talked about some of the flowers we like and don't like, and she made some suggestions. They delivered a sample centerpiece a few days before the wedding, and it took my breath away that she had read my mind! The flowers were beautiful but not too much, they were just right. On the day of the wedding, Steve and Pam delivered the flowers themselves to wish us well. Every detail from the buffet arrangement to the table centerpieces, to the bathroom arrangement that Pam had suggested (I hadn't thought about that!) were just perfect, and frankly helped make the day the memorable one that it was. Got my birthday flowers sent by my sister, when they arrived I sent a pic of them to her to say thank you. To me they looked nice, nothing extravagant. To my sister they looked nothing like the picture on 1-800 flowers where she ordered them from. She called the florist and they told her they would send another bouquet the following work day. It's been 2 days and nothing showed up. She called them again and nothing still. Now it's been 4 business days. Don't promise something if you don't deliver. :( I guess I won't be using San Marin Flowers in the future. read more

When he called to talk to 1800flowers, where he ordered them, 1800flowers called this place and the man who made the arrangement called me instead of my husband. We were told by a friend that this was THE florist to go to in Novato. We had the unfortunate need for flowers for a funeral. We live on the peninsula and decided to go in person to make our selection but it would only be convenient for us to go on the day of the rosary. We arrived at store opening (10 Am) the owners were very nice and had a few choices to fit our need for a pillow and small arrangement that would be displayed in the casket. The selection of flowers in the store was very good. We made our selection and finished the transaction and prayed the flowers would be delivered on time for the evening rosary. Indeed they did arrive in a nice box and were beautiful they even held up for the viewing the next morning before the funeral mass. I live out of town and needed to send flowers to someone in Novato. I found a picture on San Marin Flowers web page when I Googled florists in Novato. I talked with the owner. He looked up the picture, and he described the same exact arrangement I was looking at. I asked him if he could duplicate it. He said no problem. The recipient of the flowers sent me two pictures of the arrangement, one from the front and one from the back. Basically it was an arrangement of LOTS of greenery filler. The picture he was suppose to replicate had very large sunflowers, some beautiful yellow and orange roses, a very large cabbage, some yellow filler, some purple flowers and a very small amount of greenery. The one they sent looked like an arrangement of greenery with about six flowers. I called them and told them I was emailing them pictures of the arrangement we discussed and the one they sent and asked that they call me regarding this. They didn't respond. So I called them. The owner, Steve, was not pleasant or helpful. He said I could bring it back. He knew I had called from out of town. I paid $70+ for this. He did not offer any refund, partial or otherwise. So much for customer service. I know who not to call in the future. He had promised this would be like the picture and beautiful. It was nothing like the picture and was nothing close to beautiful. read more
