An amazing wine tasting experience for sure. Reservation is required for the wine tasting thru their website - https://www.sanmartinowinery.com/index.cfm?method=pages.showpage&PageID=DC48C7C9-A16A-49F6-BFD4-796872A00C6F The wine tasting fee is $20 per person. Got to taste 4 different wines - 1 white & 3 reds. The Cabernet was from grapes grown in East Texas (Sulphur Bluff) and the other 3 were from West Texas. The best part about the experience was the unique food pairings that were carefully crafted by the couple who own the establishment. The food pairings we tried were really unique and enhanced the overall tasting experience. It was really nice to experience good tasting wines from Texas. The hosts Emilio and his wife were great. Emilio makes the wine and has a wealth of knowledge for sure. We were able to tour the vineyard after the tasting. You can purchase the different wines by glass or bottles. The tasting room is really charming with a lovely decor. Patio seating is available too. This is a perfect spot to visit if you enjoy wines. Highly recommend visiting this winery.

The low rating baffles me. This place is a gem. Beautiful grounds, lovely staff, and delectable wine. And you have to trust me because I don't even like wine and I loved my Classic Red Flight! I came with a friend who makes his own wine and even he was impressed. Christina recommended a Grenache which went so well with the warm weather and slight breeze. I can't wait to bring the rest of my friends, who actually understand and appreciate wine, to this place.

We had a great experience yesterday. Made a reservation for outside online. Everyone that worked there was really nice. They have substantial outside seating spaced out for many people to hangout safely. The wine is wonderful! They also had pizza available to order on the premises and it was tasty. I would definitely come here again.

    Relaxing and a nice breeze!

The wines are not delicious but the lady serving was not friendly at all. It was like she was mad at the world.

It is quite isolated, so I would recommend downloading your map before arriving, especially for the journey home as there is little to no data service in the area. We initially chose to sit outside with our two dogs, who are service dogs, as we wanted to be considerate of other guests, rather than assuming we should bring our dogs indoors. Unfortunately, it was over 100°F, even in the shade, so we asked if there might be somewhere inside where we could sit where we wouldn't bother other guests. There were only two tables occupied in the entire facilities, with a large separate area indoor completely empty. The server was kind enough to accommodate us in there. We tried two wine flights, eight wines in total. A few were quite good, some were just okay, and one in particular, the Lambrusco, really wasn't to my taste. Very sour compared to the usual taste of it. That said, I'm Italian and probably have a different preference when it comes to wine, so this is very subjective. The food was quite good. I had the chicken salad croissant with a side of soup, and both were enjoyable. The experience took a turn halfway through our meal. One of our dogs barked a couple of times when another dog passed outside. About five minutes later, the owner came directly to our table and, in a manner that felt quite confrontational, questioned us about what services our dogs provided. We answered, but the conversation continued with comments about service dogs being trained not to bark at other dogs. And it all felt very unnecessary and beyond uncomfortable. Considering also that we were one of the three tables occupied in the whole winery. I completely understand that businesses have policies and concerns regarding service animals, and we would have been happy to have a respectful conversation about them. However, the way this interaction was handled left us feeling judged and uncomfortable, and unfortunately it overshadowed what had otherwise been an enjoyable visit. I also found the situation particularly disappointing given that the restaurant was almost completely empty and the temperature outside was well over 100°F. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled left such a sour taste that I know I will not be returning. I'm still giving 3 stars because I try to be fair with my reviews. Aside from this interaction, the property is beautiful, the food was good, our server was accommodating, and there were certainly positive aspects to the visit. It's just unfortunate that one interaction had such a lasting impact on an otherwise decent experience.

I'm so glad we went, had a great time and will be regulars when they start up again next year. I also have tons of tips for first timers. First, CR 408 is really, really, really easy to miss (especially in the dark). Aggravate the locals and drive really slow or you will miss the turn. There was no attendent at parking (which is on the grassy area between the rows of grapevines and before the house) . We weren't sure initially that that was where we were supposed to park but it is and if you overshoot it, turning around (in the dark) is kind of a feat. They say to get there around 6:30 to get a table. I would second this and say also that you want to get the bottles you are going to want before it gets really crowded. They have a menu of wines available but people can sample before purchasing so the line can move really slowly (like 15 to 20 minutes). If you are going to get there later, definitely bring lawn chairs. The sound is really good but the least obstructed views of the band go very fast. The web site recommends bringing a picnic basket/food and that really is a good idea as you are sitting and relaxing, listening to good music ... it is a natural to want some kind of little snack to go along with it. Altogether great, great time!
