Happened upon Landon in Greenville, TX while passing through. Since we needed to walk for circulation, we of course needed to visit and look around inside. Plus the fact we love Landon Winery and visit their McKinney location when in town. Upon entry we were blown away with how much larger the winery is inside. Of course we were told "real estate cost". lol. Pat was the gentleman behind the bar; very kind, nice laid back personality and great to chat with. He allowed us to try a small pour of a new wine, to us, that we never knew Landon made. It's the Tempranillo Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged and oh my how yummy, smooth, well-balanced, not fruit forward and semi-full bodied according to my husband's palette. lol Upon leaving, Pat kindly gave us some discount cards for wine tasting at any of Landon's locations. This treasure is tucked away in a small town that may seem to be forgotten but it's people are very much present and welcoming to all newcomers. What a neat place to eat!!! The patio is especially nice at night. They have string lights and lots of beautiful vines. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and they were fabulous! So good! The house side salad is so fresh and they make their dressings homemade. The spicy ranch is good and has a kick. I tried the pecan crusted tilapia and it was amazing! It was a large portion of 2 filets. I also tried the cream corn. It had a few too many UFOs (unidentified foreign objects) for my liking, but it would have been really good if it was mostly corn. The mashed potatoes are so fresh and good! They go great with the tilapia. You get free tuxedo cake for checking in on Yelp and it is so rich and wonderful. Winery (only Pros): + Incredible! - I only have positive things to say about this place. + Great education experience - the owner of the winery was extremely sweet. He did a great job going through the process of preparing the wine and explained all the chemistry that went behind it as well + Tour - each ticket is about $20, but it is definitely worth it! You'll be drinking way more than that amount in wine anyway. + Wide variety of sampling options - the owner lets you taste different wines side by side. He also has a bunch of different food items as well. It's a great place to start + Geared towards everyone - you need not be an experienced person to be able to enjoy this. The owners do a great job going for the novices and the experts alike. Bistro: Pros + Great variety + Excellent service Cons: - Food isn't always made fresh. We were driving through Greenville, Texas and saw a sign for a winery / wine tasting. It was located right on the main road through town and there was really easy parking right in front. We each had the 5 sample tasting. We could choose any 5 wines to taste on their list for $10. We sampled Sparkling Wine (moscato), Yellow Rose, Peach, Red Rose (heated) and Raspberry. All were excellent but the heated Red Rose was our favorite. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It was heated like cider and tasted like a spiked cider. The girl at the bar shared the recipe with us. With our wine samples we enjoyed the Dip Trio for $12. Tapenade, Pimento Cheese Spread, and Brie with crackers. Delicious. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the experience. Not over priced and kind of a fun lunch / snack. Our total bill, with a 20% gratuity and a bottle of wine to take home was $65. We came to this place because it was a last minute thing. We didnt know what to do for the rest of the day, and we just wanted a small road trip outside dfw. So someone mention that there was a wine festival. With little expectation, we hit the road and showed up in Greenvile, TX. Lets just say the wine festival wasnt that great... but thats okay. The wife and I usually always manage to have a good time no matter where we are... and this place is no exception. Landon Winery is actually a pretty neat place. I wouldn't drive an hour to go see it, but if you're bored and nothing else to do, why not! The building itself is pretty old looking on the outside, and mainstreet is like any other country town's mainstreet. You know its big when they have stop lights that actually change. The inside however was very nice, with lots of wine on the racks against the wall. The staff was friendly. We just decided to chill and have a couple glasses of wine with their cheese platter for two. Its was all that we needed in order to relax, and sit back and enjoy the lovely Saturday. If it was closer like the one in Mckinney, I would hit it up again... but for a quick getaway, completely out of the blue... why not? read more

We had a business lunch at Landon Winery on Tuesday afternoon. The interior of the old building has been renovated and is very large and open. We were promptly seated and greeted by our waitress. She took our order and brought us fresh, hot rolls and a herbed oil oil dip. Very tasty. My lunch companions ordered the Italian Sampler and I got the Spaghetti a la Fresca. We made it through the first round of rolls and our waitress brought us a second order as we waited for our food. The food was delivered quickly. Everyone was happy with their food, it was good, solid Italian. We were too full to order dessert, but the tray of desserts looked good, too. It was about $50 for all 4 of us, so pretty reasonable. On another note, they look like they have a great porch. It was too cool they day we were there, but I would like to go back and get a flight of wine and enjoy the view. Waiter was friendly, but apparently not very good at his job. Our food took a long time to make it to the table. So he says it will just take a couple of minutes to make another dish. Well, another ten minutes later and he brings our food out and guess what, the dish that was remade is the wrong dish. Stopped for a wine tasting on our way home from our Hot Springs anniversary weekend. A bit apprehensive since our McKinney experience a while ago was a total fail, but we knew their wines were delicious so we gave this location a try. We were wowed with almost every single tasting. Their wines are phenomenal! We were greeted by Tiffany, which more than made up for our previous experience. She was delightful and full of knowledge. She treated us to a quick tour and even poured some additional wines while we were back there. Loved how competitive (in a friendly way) she is when it comes to their wines and their service. I ordered the Grilled Salmon, it was dry and too salty. The rosemary mashed potatoes were flavorless and room temperature. My husband ordered the pecan crusted tilapia. This looks like the most attractive place to eat downtown Greenville. I saw a lot of comments on the Yelp about the service being terrible. I have to disagree from my perspective. My experience was the way it was actually overly attentive. We had to have two or three uncomfortable exchanges we are he would not walk away but instead stood there trying to talk. He was a good waiter but I wanted to get some business done on my phone cannot have a conversation about my drink or my food every few minutes. The wine was very good. They brought out the red wine at room temperature which means there was a blast of alcohol on my palate that made it unappealing.
