She has critiqued my school essays, advised me on my SAT skills, and collaborated to form several fantastic college applications. The college applications were especially of note; while However, I must emphasize that Ms. Denise's expertise extends beyond merely tutoring: we have discussed and studied topics as foreign to me as philosophy. While not overtly connected to standard academics, I have found these niche subjects as bolstering my literary and argumentative expertise (and my school grades of course). In short, if you wish to truly expand and challenge your English mastery, Ms. Denise is certainly an apt choice.

The skills she taught me have helped me in school (especially with timed writing assignments and on the AP tests) and I know I will continue to benefit from the skills I developed under Denise even after I go to college. She is a patient and caring teacher and I highly recommend her."

We checked out the Foster City location during our research and liked the program and the owners and so we felt safe taking our son there. We had debated the on site program at our son's school but based on feedback we got from other parents saying it was 'ok' that wasn't enough for us. My son loves the program and the instructors. During pick up it's hard to get him out, as they're usually playing games. I often ask which he likes better school or Roots, and he says Roots because they don't have lessons and they play board games. This is funny to us because they do daily math, handwriting practice, Spanish, public speaking, we also opted in for scratch and abacus and I'm so I impressed by what's he's learning and the fact that he doesn't think he has lessons (they also have yoga and Bollywood dance which we didn't opt for). They do play outside as well and they have a great playground, which unfortunately/fortunately has sand which will most definitely end up in your house. They've been transparent if we needed to know anything. We were also worried since the program was off-site he wouldn't spend enough time with classmates, but this hasn't been an issue, my son's very social so it's just expanded his network outside school and he still has lots of friends at his school. I've also found that for the quieter kids its slightly less overwhelming, and easier to build connections. Would definitely recommend any parent to check it out.

The other counselors I contacted were only willing to take on clients as freshmen or earlier. As well as helping him polish his essay, and fill out the college apps., her assistance was invaluable in opening new doors, and colleges he hadn't considered. Her insight led to him following his passion, and getting a degree which will further his dreams, rather than the direction he'd been planning, in which he thought he "should" go. After researching, in great detail, colleges which were possibilities, she worked with our son to make sure applications were in on time - taking us parents out of the equation. After acceptance, she worked with the admissions office, and she made several conference calls with my son and the college of his choice, making sure he received as much credit as possible for the college courses he had taken. He ended up enrolling as a second semester sophomore, which is very helpful to the bank account. Not only is Margaret worth every penny, I'm confident that we've come out ahead! Margaret is smart and kind and worked very hard for us, doing things we didn't even know to do, and our son is in a much better place because of it. Woohoo! She is as good as it gets!

I was lost during the beginning of my senior year and Ryan guided me through everything. Making a college list to start and explaining the college process, the different portals, and of course the supplementals. This was just the start. From working with Ryan I was already able to get comfortable with the college apps process and the timeline which would leave me with the least amount of stress. College apps is a stressful time and experience but he helps you throughout and ensures that you will meet every deadline. On top of all that is his help on your essays. He first helps explain the prompt and brainstorms various ideas with you. He revises and looks over every essay, giving edits and feedback from an experienced perspective. He helps you boost your activities list to make sure it's the best it can be, and it has descriptions that college admission officers will like. I really am glad I had Ryan as my college tutor and only knowing him from the beginning on August, I feel like we got lots of work done through his guidance. Easily 5 stars
